Well, we'll just get the essential cons out of the way so we don't have to beat the dead horse: possibility that Dusty will play him over Murton.

Now, having said that, I don't really mind a look. He hits lefties a lot better than righties, here's his 3 year splits

LH - .261 .314 .434 .748

RH - .235 .281 .407 .688

And he has a 180 more at bats against lefties in the last 3 years, so he's been used as a quasi lefty specialist.

It's interesting that the team is bringing in outfielders who may still have a little gas left in them against lefties. Of course, they missed the boat in not getting Eli Marrero, who has killed lefties the last two seasons, and was willing to be a teams 3rd catcher to make a roster. I would have given him a big league deal, he's more of a sure thing than Grissom or Sierra.

By the way, has ITI ever gotten a signing right?

Remember that 'impending' trade that they had over the free weekend?

To be positive, interest in Sierra and Grissom might indicate that Hendry is aware that Jones needs a platoon partner.

Or that the Cubs might get some kind of payroll subsidy from AARP if they acquire Julio Franco to go with those two.
