My prediction. Texas beats USC by stopping a game-tying TD pass, and Reggie Bush goes down just before the end of regulation with a torn ACL. Bears gamble and pick him up in the 1st round of the 2006 draft, knowing he's out for his rookie season.

i hope this game goes 8 OT's  I want Texas to win, but the main thing I want about this game is it to be worth the hype that it has been getting.

It won't. They very rarely do.

I'm not sure if they still do, but foxsports.com had the headline "BEST GAME EVER!" on their front page earlier today.

I hope to see a game that has a whole bunch of penalties and missed field goals and goes at least 3 OTs. Oh wait, that was last night. I hope both sides score on every possession. Last one with the ball wins.

I dont see SC blowin Texas out like they did oklahoma. Ill be pullin for Texas because well, i dont root for Pac Ten teams in the Rose Bowl (unless they are playing OSU) so why change now.

And since this is the Rose Bowl what would that be without a good ribbing of a Pac-10 team? Not taking anything away from SC, probably the best teams ive ever seen, but you will never see a Big Ten team, SEC or now ACC team win 34 games in a row. :P

Matt Jones was drafted as a WR in the first round last year and he played QB in college. Antoine Randall El played QB in college. Urlacher was a safety in college. Robinson played some WR when Mills was the QB at Penn State.

i don't think robinson is the type of athlete that Jones, Randle El, or Urlacher are though

You have quite the imagination. Is Jamaal Charles going to challenge the draft rules too?

Finally someone wins. Personally, I think Penn State should drop a few spots in the poll for that pitiful performance against FSU.

1. USC/UT

2. UT/USC

3. Oh St.

4. Penn St.

5. WVU?

Unless there's a blow out tomorrow night.

Penn St. beat Ohio St.

Good gosh, I've never seen a team travel to Pasadena as well as Texas the past two years (way better than Wisconsin or Nebraska). There are actually more folks Texas stuff on than USC stuff in this neck of the woods the past few days, I'm truly shocked.

USC will win tonight, but at least it will be close unlike last year. :(

For the sake of my sanity the next few weeks, I hope you're right.

Yeah I didn't think about that when I was writing the list, just thought about the BCS performances.

If there is a blowout tonight, Penn St. should finish #2. A close game should leave them at #3. Still, they are just 1 of 3 11-win teams this year

Willis McGahee blew out his knee in the national championship game and went pro, and got drafted 23rd overall. He was certainly not as highly regarded as Bush. You can bet that if Bush blew out his knee during tonight's game, he would still go in the top 10 picks, so the Bears would never have a chance at drafting him.

Did you watch the Orange Bowl? Penn St. took 3 overtimes to beat a team ranked 22nd. Ohio State convincingly beat a top 10 team. I have Ohio State ahead of Penn State, even after Penn State beat them. I mean, Penn State nearly lost to Northwestern.

And Penn State was nearly undefeated but Lloyd Carr got some seconds falsely added to the clock. I don't think margin of victory in bowl game is enough justification to put OSU over Penn St when they lost to Penn St and lost more games total than Penn St.

PSU: 11-1, win over OSU

OSU: 10-2, loss to PSU

If Penn St. hadn't beaten OSU, then I could see it, but when teams have played head to head you have to give it to the team that won. If Texas wins, I think OSU should jump USC.

West Virginia deserves a pretty sizable jump as well IMO.

Dumping USC to #4?

PSU certainly did not play their best game last night. That said, they played the better game offensively and defensively, and the reason FSU was still in the ballgame was due to a punt return and Kelly's missed FGs, plus a bad exchange when PSU had first and goal from the 5 yard line. Plus, while Scott had a pretty solid game, he is not as good as Hunt, so the best RB and best WR (Williams) were not on the team. I'm not surprised that the offense struggled with two of its best players out after 1.5 months off and 2 of its top players not in the game.

And, PSU was never in real danger of losing that game. FSU tied the game with the FG, then PSU drove and was in FG range to win the game but Kelly blew it. FSU then took a knee. FSU did not convert in the first OT so PSU didn't even have to score to keep the game going. PSU scored a TD in the second OT, so after that, at worst they were going to another overtime. Then, PSU got the ball in the third OT not needing to score to keep the game alive. If Kelly had missed that FG in the third OT, you could have said that FSU dodged 3 times where the game would have been over (all but over in regulation), plus faced the prospect of needing a TD to keep the game going in OT #2.

And on the "who is #3" discussion, quality of bowl game victory is not enough to supersede a direct head-to-head result. Yeah, O$U's offense looked really impressive against Notre Dame's swiss cheese defense, but do you really think O$U would have run roughshot over a much better FSU defense? The Buckeyes had their chance to put up 34 points and 600 yards on PSU and came up just a wee bit short of those figures. Back in 2002, Ohio State barely won games over bad Cincy and Illinois teams, and had narrow victories over several other opponents. But, they won every game they played, went 14-0 and won the national championship in both polls. They probably weren't as good as Miami that year, but they were better on that one night, and that's what counts. As Herm Edwards said, "You play to win the games" and Penn State won all but one of their games.

As long as neither Texas nor USC loses by 25+ points, I'd leave them as #1/#2. A close, competitive game would make me even more certain that those two are head and shoulders above every other team this year.

Agreed. PSU was 11-1, but probably couldn't beat either Texas or USC (especially considering their health issues).

I have no problem if PSU ends up #3 after winning 3 and 4 games the previous two years. I'm not greedy

I can't wait to hear the LSU crowd come in and bitch about ABC promoting USC as the two time defending national champions.

It should be fun fun fun.
