I'd make that deal if I knew that the Cubs could then spin Connor or Quentin in a bigger deal for Abreu.

 

Abreu and Tracy are better than Lee and one of the RF options currently on the FA market.

How come no one asked for Delmon Young. I know its never going to happen, but neither is any of this stuff. If were making up fake trandes lets at least get their best prospect, and the games best prospect at that as well.

I think if we were to trade Lee, we'd definately have to look at the Sexson trade a couple years back for a benchmark.

 

The Brew crew gave up Sexson and Shane Nance for Junior Spivey, Lyle Overbay, Chad Moeller, Craig Counsell and Chris Capuano, plus Jorge de la Rosa.

 

I think given Hendry's ability to fleece people in trades, we should definately be able to look at any trade and one-up that. And mind you, the Brewers got a former all star, a former NLCS MVP, a major league ready first baseman, a crappy catcher, a solid 22 year old major league ready pitching prospect, and a guy who won 18 games last year.

I would trade Lee for Julio Lugo, Aubrey Huff, and Jonny Gomes. Gomes alone would make that deal tempting. I think the real kicker is what kind of numbers you expect from Huff.

 

Lee is a very good player but he's not at an elite one IMO. I expect a .925-.950 OPS from him next season.

 

I'd trade Pujols, Rolen, and Edmonds to the Royals for Matt Stairs and Elmer Dessens. Adding a Canadian and a dude named Elmer make that deal too tempting for any team to pass up... :P

Yeah, but not the best way or even a good way. I wouldnt want a 3-4-5 of my order to be Ramirez-Huff-Barrett or something like that. You need Lee. The only way I trade Lee to Tampa is if they send me back Young, Kazmir, Huff, Lugo, and Upton. They would never do that, but that's pretty much what it would take for me to trade away Derreck Lee.

No doubt about it. That package is stacked. I would prefer Stephen Drew over Jackson, but I wouldn't allow it to be a deal breaker with that kind of talent involved.

It's not JUST his offense. His defense probably saves 40 errors a year alone, not including how many base hits he robs, and alert plays he makes. Sure he might regress a little bit, but he is relatively young so he could have had a breakout season and might hit .300/.380/.540 which would be a regression, but still a solid output as well.

 

Lee and Williams for an average SS, Jeromy Burnitz, and an proven, but very talented prospect? No thanks.

 

Maybe I'd trade Lee for Lugo, Huff, and Gomes, but not Lee AND Williams.

Yep, I'd want a player like Miguel Cabrera and a stud prospects in return. Maybe I'd trade AP and Cabrera straight up. Interesting to think about.
