We're one step closer to Jones/Encarnacion/some other scrub in RF. :(

How is that possible? Are Murton and Pierre going somewhere? Should we beat ourselves up because we didn't give up a top tier hitting prospect for the A-Hole with the high OBP?

Lf- Murton

CF- Pierre

That leaves the chance of a scrub in RF.

yes, b/c it's better than the saints with the .757 OPS.

The Dodgers also threw in Antonio Perez, minor league 2B/SS, who saw some action in LA last year.

So the A's get Bradley and Perez for a 2nd tier prospect. Sounds like a great deal for them.

See, the difference between a good GM and ours.

Colletti wasn't going to trade Bradley to the Cubs.

Not for Walker. Not once they hired Grady Little, who managed him in Boston. He obviously didn't want him.

A's did well for themselves, it appears. Plus, any temptation to bring that cancer to the North side is averted. Unless they pull a Barrett deal, which I doubt.

Oh boy....can we, can we please sign Corey Patter----I mean Jacque Jones. can we, can we, can we? I wanted Bradley to ELIMINATE Encarnacion/Jones, etc possibility.

But hey.....we STILL got John Mabry to play in RF, too.

Because it was revealed that Colletti and Dusty don't like one another. In hindsight, it seems that the Bradley trade talks hushed after Colletti took the helm in LA.

That is pure speculation. In my opinion we were probably not offering enough.

Who revealed this and when?

Baseball is a business. If the Cubs would have made a good offer the Dodgers would have took it.

Look what they got for him.

Well, I think Bruce Miles has some insight into it. Colletti was also working for the Giants when Dusty left and we all know he departed under a cloud.

Bruce mentioned it today on the radio and as I recall, he alluded to it in one of his recent posts here (when he said that it was essentially one sided--that the Dodgers weren't cooperating).

I am thinking for some reason that Bradley is still gonna be a Cub with us doing a deal with Oakland.I think Hendry had made him a target and couldn't get a deal done with the Dodgers now he can trade with Beane instead. Remember Barrett?

They got Bradley for ONE prospect? That makes the Pierre deal look pretty bad for the Cubs.

Or it could be an indication of how little MLB GM's value the addition of Bradley to their team. The mid-level prospect the Dodger's received was probably pretty close to the best offer they saw from any team.

Place Bradley's stats, talent and age on any other outfielder and they would offer a much higher return. When considering the baggage Bradley brings along...........the value plummets.

I'm glad Hendry stayed away.

Very possible. Beane and Hendry work pretty well together.

Opposites attract.

Not if Ned finds out.

So that crack Hendry made about the pretty mouth really didn't go far to nuture the friendship, eh?
