  1. That was probably it. My memory was most likely a little off. Became a fan about 1955. Thanks for the site.
  2. Little off topic here, but I recall reading about a cub-reds game circa 1954-55 where the cubs came into the 9th losing 9-1 and won it in 9 innings. Anyone got the historical data on that game?
  3. High OBP and SLG PCT have always gone hand in hand with interior decorating skills.
  4. I think that a platoon of Derosa/Theriot may well work fine. Theriot hit what? .320 in 2006 albeit in only a couple hundred ABs. He CAN be a spark plug. If DeRosa gets the lion's share of ABs at SS it goes a longer way toward the supersub and a reliable OBP guy getting his 400+ . As for Cedeno probably :pig: Get Roberts. Get Blanton if you can. Stay healthy. 2008 will be a good cub year.
  5. Redsox Yanks Rockies Cubs ******************************* Yanks Cubs Game 7 Halliday, Toulowitski and Helton combine for 6 HRs, but Ramirez (2), Lee (1) and Soriano (4) hit 7 to edge them. ******************************* Cubs over Yanks in 6 or 7 Miracles DO happen.
  6. Also, yes it was the triumvirat (sp) of Soriano, Lee and Ramirez who made September what it was for us, but Soriano was first among equals.
  7. Completely happy with his production. Plus I love the guy's attitude and love for the game. He'll always K alot unless a miracle happens, but the guy can carry a team with his streakiness if not his heart alone. Lets hope he's the second coming of Reggie.
  8. The ESPN crew.....so they can finally give us our due. And I hope we beat either the Yankees or the Red Sox. And yes it would be such an incredibly great emotional moment for Ron and Ernie amongst other oldtimers who never made it there. Go Cubs! Win Cubs!
  9. I, in all honesty, don't think his depth perception is totally there. That pitch on the outside part that he used to be able to decipher as a ball or strike, he is unable to do now. Yes, he has also been TAKING more strikes lately too, or at least thats my recollection.
  10. Still hitting well enough, but he seems to missing the away and the low pitch more than usual.
  11. Yeah to all of that. Plus there were alot of very weird strikes called that were waaaaay outside of the zone. Does anyone know whether the umpire was waaaay off tonight, or is it just the scorer again? Sheesh.
  12. Weurtz, Ohman and Eyre........better have our hittin' clothes on.
  13. Is anyone else getting some crazy things happening on Gameday rewcounts? Geez, the scorer had Floyd striking out on four pitches before they got it right and recorded the wild pitch and the winning run. Must be a Brewer or Philly fan doing the scoring, no?
  14. I love HBO's John From Cincinnati being your icon. Or as John would reply: Cubs need Griffey Griffey wants to (wouldn't mind to) come to the Cubs please Jim.
  15. Keep Marmol. The movement on his pitches gives me a tingle.
