The A's are apparently giving up Andre Ethier, according to radio stations in Oakland. Dodgers are trading Bradley and Antonio Perez.

Well, at least Oakland gave up a top prospect for him. Wonder what this does to Oakland's OF situation. Are they going to go into the season with Swisher, Kotsay, and Bradley?

Jay Payton as well?

I thought someone said the A's are moving Swisher to 1st?

I think they're going to trade Kotsay.

I think Oakland and the Cubs are going to make a trade with the Cubs getting Kotsay.

Please don't get my hopes up like that...

We're one step closer to Jones/Encarnacion/some other scrub in RF. :(

How is that possible? Are Murton and Pierre going somewhere? Should we beat ourselves up because we didn't give up a top tier hitting prospect for the A-Hole with the high OBP?

Yeah that's what I thought....I just have this wierd feeling that the Cubs are going to trade Murton and player X for Kotsay.

Andre Ethier, for the record, is hardly a "top prospect". A good hitter for average with very nice patience but not that much in the way of power, limited to the corner outfield defensively, he'll turn 24 next April and his only experience above Double-A was this year's AFL. He ripped the cover off the ball there, but it is a ridiculously favourable hitting environment down in Arizona, so you have to be wary of going overboard. Baseball America ranked him "inside the top twenty" last year, and I don't see much in his year at Midland that will have changed that. Right now I'd suggest he's around about the same in prospect status as Matt Murton was coming into this year, maybe a bit less. Edited by Diffusion

So what you're saying is that comparatively the Pierre deal totally sucks for the Cubs.

No dude, Bradley isn't a prototypical leadoff hitter, Pierre is.
