Except Phily is on Vazquez' no trade list.

I wonder if 5 million dollars would change his mind?

Give him the money in unmarked bills in a garbage bag on his way to Philly.

What Jeff said, I've seen this several places now and it needs to be put to bed--Green has a full, rock-solid NTC a-la Kerry Wood. Yes, he COULD waive it, but he won't, because it would cost him money. Arizona knew this when they traded for him.

It's not a full NTC, but it doesn't allow him to be traded to the Cubs without his permission.

Why would it cost him money? Tax issues?

Cubs get P Vazquez and 2b/ss Cintron.

Diamondbacks get cf Patterson and P Guzman.

Cubs pay Vazquez's full contract.

Brutal. Just brutal.

How many 3B's does Boston need?

Word is that if they got Glaus, they'd stick him at 1B and hope he could handle it better than Millar.

however, there is Vazquez who has demanded a trade. is Chicago far enough east for him?

If there's any truth to the whole travel to his family thing, it would have to be. Chicago would probably be third only to Miami and NY as far as ease of travel home. Well, maybe Atlanta as well.

There are several daily flights from San Juan to O'Hare.

I agree...who'd want to play for those clubs right now. I think that Vazquez would be an excellent #3 starter for the Cubs. He still has alot of good innings in him.

I've dropped a line to "Gambo" in attempt to get a few names that Arizona would be willing to offer. This is pure speculation, but maybe the D'Backs would part with a struggling outfielder of their own, Josh Kroeger. A former wide receiver, Kroeger took a step backward by posting a .261/.316/.422 line in Triple A this year. He's only 22, and had been successful up to this point. I figure it wouldn't be bad to add a slugging outfield prospect to the stable if he's available.

mlbtraderumors.com (I know, I know....don't shot the messenger) mention the D'backs could offer Josh Kroeger for Corey. I don't know who the kid is...so if somebody knows....It would be a stuggling OF (Kroeger is 22, which could peak my interests, a little bit) for a struggling OF...

It's not because of that...the only three teams he doesn't have on the NTC is Padres, Angels, and Dodgers. Meaning Green's wife, is prolly from Cali, and she doesn't want to leave Cali...

The advantage is that he's young and most likely making $316,000. Any deal that nets that for Corey, I take it.
