  1. Murton, IMO, is farther along than Church based on his performance last year and in ST. Isn't Guillen hurt? And Soriano could have 30 errors in LF this year, to go with his .320 OBP in that cavernous park. Just me, but I like our situation better. I think you are being a bit hyper-critical here. I agree our OF situation is not what it could or should be, but I disagree its the worst in the league. It's not the worst in the league but it's not even close to being middle of the pack. Considering our payroll...it's pretty bad.
  2. Maddux continues to be the least of this team's problems. If I pity anyone in the 3-year-scenario, it's Maddux, not the Cobs. Pity Maddux? He is making a pretty penny here pitching so I definitely do not pity him or his situation.
  3. What a relief. When I heard he went down because of what looked to be an elbow injury first thing that came to mind was ..good thing Hendry signed two relief pitchers. Hopefully he can make it back before the season gets started.
  4. Bruce, Any word on Wade Miller's velocity out of camp?
  5. IIRC, a sticking point of Miller's signing was that he had to be added to the 25 man roster by Opening Day. Thus, per their agreement, I don't think the Cubs have the option to place him on the DL. Does anyody have any word on Miller's velocity yet?
  6. I always thought Aardsma was able to hit 97-98? I could be wrong though.
  7. So both Guzman and Marshall pitched 4 hitless innings. Nice.
  8. I dont even need to see the game to know that
  9. Marshall did a good job in 4 innings... Guzman is in now. Sorry i should have typed more. I meant for the start of the season since Wood and Prior are hurt. I would rather see both of them over Rusch but that isn't happening.
  10. PLAYER AVG G AB R H TB 2B 3B HR RBI ------ --- - -- - - -- -- -- -- --- M Grissom .229 15 35 2 8 10 2 0 0 4 It would be a travesty if he made the 25.
  11. Griese's agent was on the Score a couple of hours ago and he said the Bears made it clear it's Rex's job to lose.
  12. Just looking at pitch counts, it sounds like Wood would have been ahead of Prior even without Prior's shoulder injury. That's amazing. Go Woody. I don't mean to be negative, but seeing Wood and Prior the last two years, I can't get excited about either "coming back early" from an injury(particularly Wood because of his poor mechanics). Does anyone seriously think that Wood can give us 30-35 quality starts this year (or any year for that matter)? I just get tired of going into a season depending on Wood/Prior only to be let down. 2003 may just be the last time we will ever see Wood and Prior dominant in the same year. Ken That's one problem of many I have with Hendry. Who here on this board really thought Wood and Prior were going to start the season on the right foot? I would assume most of us didn't. Did we really believe Rusch is the answer to take Wood or Prior's place when faced with an injury? Do you guys honestly believe Wade Miller is going to find his old form of 3 years ago? I personally don't think so especially considering Maddux's fastball was faster than his last year. Is Hendry so close-minded he did not see any of these things developing? Hendry yet again has left this ball club with more holes to fill.
