  1. Chris, awesome work this evening, and it'd be awesome to hear you full time with Ron next season! Very natural enthusiasm throughout the evening. Send the best to Ron as well, first live broadcast all year and this is pretty darn entertaining. I wanna hear some Aunt Florence window openings live for once :D :D
  2. There's a tip jar in my car. It only accepts 10's and 20's tho : (
  3. I sincerely hope that you're kidding. Are you like that to everyone in service to you? When you go into the grocery store are you rude to the cashier because "he/she is a moron, and it's thier job to put up with a jerk like me. The Customer is Always right.... blah blah blah bow down and kiss my butt!" A lot of those kids are in high school or college. If you're not kidding, I wish 1 of 2 things for you... 1) A visit from Modzilla. And soon. 2) You one day are in such desperate need of a job that you are forced to work at a Subway/Wal-Mart/McDonalds, and that every customer you have views you the way you view the people who work at Subway. BTW, I have a college education and I work at Wal-Mart. Some of us need money for things like rent and food. Is it my ideal job? No, but there was nothing else available and I need work. I hate having to serve people like you..... the people who think I'm an idiot just because I'm in service to them. Just remember, never tick off anyone who handles your food or your money. And please, enlighten me. What is this "reason" they're working at Subway? Maybe it's because they enjoy serving jerks who think that they're better? Maybe because they like hearing screaming bratty children all day. I know, it's because they love getting yelled at and cleaning up messes all day for very little pay. Surely it must be that, and not because they're working themselves through college, or saving, or taking up a 2nd job because times are tough, or even trying to support a family. It can't be any of THOSE reasons. Mods, forgive me. He hit a nerve. I've had to deal w/ people as well, all right. For about a week, I worked w/ IllinoisPIRG, canvassing door-to-door. Some people shut the door in my face, others are like I don't know, some worked w/ me the whole way, and some were pissed at the whole thing. I give them a rap, negotiate contributions, give them info, ask them to sign a postcard, and then ask them a quick survey all contributors are asked. It was [expletive]. I quit after a week, b/c all the walking wasn't good for my leg. Work in sales like me, where your job is to kiss the customer's ass at every turn. Because you know what? I don't make jack if I don't make a a sale. Perhaps that would make your view a little more enlightened on the service world.
  4. Absolutely.
  5. Its not that that actually bothers me, its that those who use far less demeaning terms than Frost used for many of the posters eare chastized and then he makes a post that is incredibly insulting on many different levels to many different people given the tone and target of his nonsense. This kind of stuff is just irritating the hell out of me, that's all. And for the record, I don't want Neifi to play again this season. He's been pretty darn awful sans April and provides no future potential for this team. Giving Cedeno a chance to prove himself could give you money to save on Rafael Furcal. But then I guess the league would have the "book" on him, then
  6. Where were you in June and July? I hate that Neifi's fans are alternately insufferable smartasses or invisible ghosts, depending on whether he's hot or cold. Where's a mod to stop this insufferable garbage? If you wanna eliminate silly stuff like the Corey (with a K) eliminate crap like this.
  7. Amen. God forbid, god's gift to Pitching gets hit hard every once in awhile. I'm betting Hawk ran with this tonight and was just aghast that the blasphemous Texas Rangers would do such a thing. What a little baby.
  8. The games are meaningless, its tough to spend any sort of money on this team at this point.
  9. What's up with the screenname.
  10. Add another vote for Murton.
  11. Why the heck do people think Dopirak is ready to play in the majors? Isn't he still in A-ball? I don't think bringing him up to a level where he will be totally overmatched is a good idea. I don't think it is necessary to shut down every player for the rest of the year, but Baker should certainly give them plenty of rest. Not every player.. Players who are day to day and would we would benefit a bunch if we didnt waste them now. Dopirak should be called up for September only. If not that, play Holla at 1B.. Hell I wouldn't mind bringing up Jermaine Van Buren and starting him in place of Rusch. How many people are you going to drop from the 40 man? You'd have to drop at least two for Van Buren and Dopirak, and the Cubs would be incredibly foolish to do it for Dopirak at this point. Silly idea.
  12. I'd love to see Cleveland being their ridiculous streak of division titles this season. And I'm really rooting for them to go all the way. Love the way Shapiro and Wedge have put that team together.
  13. So we essentially dealt Jason DuBois for a (likely lousy) minor league PTNBL? Makes sense
  14. I wouldn't donate a dime to the kid, regardless of the circumstances.
  15. Coskie signed a 3/17 deal last offseason with the BJays. No way will he be coming here for next season.
  16. Agreed. You pick one freaking game as opposed to all 16 or so like in the other league and we have about 3 times the participation in the Pro Pick em. Makes no sense.
  17. The meltdowns on the White Sox board was priceless enough. Great work, Johan!
  18. First off, Ryan, thank you for taking our questions here at NSBB! It is much appreciated! What are your thoughts on the organization's ability with regards to developing hitters in the system? What kind of approach is taught at the low level? We've seen on the major league level some issues with poor plate approach and it has been a major detriment to the success of the pro ballclub. I'm hoping that the coaches down in Peoria are instilling a thought process of working an AB into your favor and selecting "your pitch" to hit (which with you, usually ends up out beyond the O' Brien Field Wall). Thanks Ryan and best of luck to you through the Cubs system. We look forward to seeing you at many all star games in a Cub uniform!
  19. The Cubs inexplicably won a game this past evening and they look to add to their modest one game winning streak tomorrow. They were to face arguably one of the worst contract's in history (second only to Arliss being signed for many seasons on HBO) in Mike Hampton who comes in at a solid 5-3 record and a 3.5. ERA. However, Hampton was placed on the DL not 30 seconds ago according to the score, so we shall see Jorge Sosa in his place. Sosa is 9-2 with a 2.63 ERA and will likely have great success against our swing happy offense. Sosa has had control issues, walking 45 guys in 92.2 innings. I'm hoping we can take advantage of this. Odds are we won't, but we can still hope! The Cubs counter with Mark Prior who has been good all season, though not the great we were anticipating coming into the season. Record of 9-4, but an ERA of 3.66 that I, for one, expected to be lower this season. Lets do this thing, and take a series for once! Go Cubs!
  20. The Cubs will be looking to stop their recently terrible ways by facing John Thomson. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/123307.jpg Thomson has been bad when healthy this season compiling a 3-3 record and a 4.53 ERA. The Cubs will counter with even worse Jerome Williams. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/425532.jpg Jerome's a big man who needs to start stepping up to be an integral (ie cheap) part of next season's team. Williams is 3-6 on the season with an ERA over 5. We need a win at this point for some sort of morale boost! GO CUBS!
  21. Corey is making how much this season? How much is he expected to make next season? I wouldn't say he's been very cost efficient for the production. And I want to see that "potential" to start turning into an actuality. I don't think that's being unrealistic.
  22. We've already got Neifi. I'm guessing Grissom would have to be part of that deal to appease Dr. Dusty.
  23. Gar, IM me sometime. I never see your (new) SN sign on. AIM button should be in my profile in the non premium page.
  24. I really doubt it will happen. Apparently their payroll isn't going up at all until more fans start showing up. That means there's virtually no chance of retaining Millwood, never mind AJB. I think the mid to late 90's is strong evidence that if they put out a team that should win 90-100 games, the fans will show up in mass numbers.
  25. What the heck does this mean?
