  1. Does Murton even serve a purpose anymore? He might be the waterboy or something...
  2. Just curious but why is a lot of the names we're mentioning other teams' retreads?
  3. they haven't even made the playoffs yet ok, at this point, I'm anticipating they make it. Figured that was implied by my response.
  4. They'll lose in the first round like they always do.
  5. David Eckstein with a Grand Slam to win the game in the ninth inning. Unreal.
  6. If you're a premium user, you can just get rid of avatars totally and its great for loading pages. No sigs and avatars is the way to go!
  7. That's always going to be the case with guys who throw a lot of breaking balls unless they develop a wicked move to first. Curves come in obviously more slowly into the plate and also aren't usually up (if they are, there's more of a problem with the hitter than the runner then) for the catcher to make an easy transition into a strong throw.
  8. You were on the fence with Chipper yet you're against Edmonds? Chipper's OPS career is .938 and Edmonds is .928. Keep in mind that Chipper has been much more injury prone this season and the numbers aren't all that impressive. Moving to third does help Chipper, but what about playing CF for Edmonds? Centerfield is traditionally a more defensive position and 3B is typically viewed as a power spot, yet Edmonds has bucked that trend. If Edmonds stays healthy and puts up a 900+ OPS for another season or two, it'd be real tough to keep him out, especially if most who have responded thus far are in favor of Jones getting in.
  9. Thank god premium allows you to ignore posters.
  10. Right on JR. I wanna see the media reaction to this and see if they actually hit Dusty with some legit questions about this horrid effort tonight instead of the usual softball questions and responses that elicit laughter. This was an embarassing effort tonight. And god forbid if someone does call him on this nonsense, watch him go into total defense mode and then say that people like Scoop are correct. I honestly would not be shocked.
  11. The team? If the team quit we'd be losing a bunch of 10-2 games not one or two run games. Or do you mean Williams and Barrett have quit? This was a terrible effort overall all evening. Those two were the main culprits but Walker made a weak throw on a potential DP which cost outs. Lawton taking a poor route in the ninth that could have been disasterous. This is the kind of "effort" that is indicative of a team quitting.
  12. All I ever hear here is that there is no such thing as a "clutch" player. Does Barrett have the gall to go against the masses!? I absolutely agree Abuck, this was a total mental meltdown at the end of the game that is COMPLETELY INEXCUSABLE for a major league player. Let alone the rest of your post that I forgot to quote which hits this nonsense tonight right on the head. Terrible terrible "effort". This could be evidence that the team has quit on its inept doofus for a manager.
  13. Hey Mark, you gonna catch me? Yeah, if people wanted to make some (fair) deals. ARGH. But your team is damn good on the offense side. I'm hoping so.
  14. I used a primo waiver spot on Barry Bonds. But there's not like there's a ton of guys left as it is.
  15. They were about to give up more just to get Huff and Baez. You can replace Hanley with their pitching prospect, and I think you can get it done. BTW, Kent is a good enough LOOGY to look really nice to a team like Boston who have pen issues. They actually weren't getting Baez. They were getting Cameron, but that's beside the point. Point is they're giving up a TON of talent and only getting back one difference maker. That doesn't seem like a deal Theo would make to me.
  16. Boston wouldn't give up Shoppach and Ramirez and only really get Dunn back. Despite what some think, Sir Kent isn't a difference maker at the RP spot.
  17. If that's true, bye Pie and Hill. Not even a second thought from me.
  18. Ichiro just got a 4/44 extension. I'd be absolutely shocked if he didn't get a No Trade Clause as well.
  19. Guaranteed through 2008 with team options in 2009 and 2010. Any sort of buyout on those options?
  20. Thanks for your time, Bo! What players have gone relatively unnoticed, but could prove to have an impact on the big league club at some point down the road? Thanks Bo!
  21. I pretty much agree BBB. However, we were discussing this a few days ago and I mentioned that Murton is just the type of hitter the Cubs need in this line up (this year). They really don't need a big bopper (high K/high power guy). They need some OBP. Murton provides that. I know that the corner outfield spot is a "traditional" spot for a masher but the Cubs have a few of those and not enough guys to be driven in. I'd rather just go with Murton than give up prospect for a Floyd. Now if it's Dunn we are discussing, well that is a horse of a different color. We also need a manager to utilize him effectively and thus far, that's been the biggest setback. How long does everyone think it is before Murton gets the full time gig in LF (by full time I mean playing 5/7 games or so) barring a trade?
  22. I think from the standpoint that he might not be productive anymore given that a man of his size and stature, his leg/ankle problems will continue to give him fits until he does intend on retiring, but as of right now, the Chicago Media is focusing on whether or not Kenny Williams will pick up his ludicrous option for next season (the angle being that he gets his 500th home run with the Sox, though I'm unsure of how close he actually is...). Kenny would have to be on crack to give Frank 12 million next season. if i were Williams, id decline the option but ask him back, for far less of course. No team is going to spend $12 million on Thomas next year. He's going to have to spend 3 million on a buyout of the option, how much more can you give him?
  23. He's gone with Holla the whole way, I don't see why he'd switch (other than him using some logic) at this point. I'm still wondering why we acquired Gerut in the first place.

  25. I must have missed the memo saying that you became a mod. You're awfully quick to call people trolls....... I must of have missed the memo saying that you became a mod. Where did I call him a troll? Check the other threads he posted in and get back to me. Thanks. Whatever. Calling him out on "questioning people's integrity" is an implication to me that you feel he is a troll.
