  1. He's 1-1 with a 4.61 ERA since accusing the Rangers of stealing signs via the lightboards. Shouldn't have told teams how to beat him ;)
  2. I'm going to the game tonight with UMFan. And I'm hoping to enjoy the continue of the collapse first hand. PRONK ON! Are the Indians the best team in the American League for a playoff run? Perhaps all of baseball? I think so.
  3. Buehrle has sucked lately. Their best pitcher over the last few weeks, Contreras, isn't going at all. I think the Indians can pull off the sweep.
  4. That's why I'm very interested in what Murton could yield in a trade this offseason. Maybe for once, the Cubs could trade a prospect at his peak value. I don't think the Cubs have ever traded a prospect at the peak of his value. I don't think the Cubs would dare to do it, either, because this organization is obsessed with the PR aspect of the game, and they'd be too terrified to give up another Willis, or Brock, or whatever. I also think that a .275 line with a .350 or so OBP would be okay out of basically a rookie OF. That said, if Murton and others nets you an impact, ready-to-win now player of similar age to ARam and Lee, then Hendry would be stupid to not do it, given who our manager is. What about Hee Seop Choi? His value wasn't at its highest, but we got the maximized return on the prospect.
  5. Kevin Jones. I think he'll be good for near 100 and a TD. Meanwhile, Domanick Davis will likely struggle bad... again. And not keen on Caddy against Buffalo.
  6. Play Horn and Fitz every week, regardless of matchups. Why try and rack your brain every week when you've got two top flight guys already?
  7. Seconded.
  8. HOORAY CLEVELAND! I'm rooting for those guys in the playoffs. And it'll be extra sweet if they take the Sox out in the process. What this is showing, though, is that even if/when the Sox make it to the playoffs, they aren't on the same level as teams like the Red Sox, Indians, Angels. Their perceived strengths (starting pitching) are really starting to falter. I wonder if there's been issues of overwork with Buehrle and Garcia. I remember Buehrle's ridiculously stupid consecutive games going 6 or more innings, and I'm wondering if its catching up with him. Cleveland might be the most balanced (and best) team for the postseason. They have possibly the best 1-4 starters. Second best lineup to the Red Sox Best Bullpen Coming in extremely hot. I really hope they make it, because they could make October, for me anyway, a fun one to watch.
  9. Dusty wrote the novel on playing veterans all the time. Veterans: An Ode to Mediocrity
  10. Ken Griffey Jr? I mean him STAYING HEALTHY for almost the entire season had real long shot odds in Vegas at the beginning of the season.
  11. BUT WHAT ABOUT A BLOODY SOCK!?
  12. i agree with most of this, aside from the liking boston thing. they annoy me a lot. especially schilling. zip it. DIDN'T YOU SEE! HE PITCHED WITH A BLOODY SOCK! Oh god, that was beyond nauseating last season. I wanted him to just get a shellacking so I could laugh at him for being such a "warrior" and a general nuisance about the entire situation.
  13. So wouldn't the highest score be 120 then? 12 teams, 10 categories?
  14. I was there as well, and it sounded like they were booing Theriot to me :( That's gotta be tough. He did battle hard in that AB.
  15. next year's dp call: "Macias! To Neifi! To Lee! DOUBLE PLAY!"
  16. If I were a legal (which I'm not) betting man (which I am) I'd put a LOT of money on the Sooners this weekend.
  17. I dislike your team, but I think you were put in a bad position. I'm guessing you had the first overall pick, and in a year like this, that can be a bad thing, especially when you've got 10 teams. Tomlinson is the best player, but there's a huge dropoff in talent by the time your pick comes up again. I think you could have done better than Harrison and Curtis Martin (especially in a keeper league with those two aging stars) with your second and third round picks (if you took them there, I am assuming that is where you got them). For me, picking 6th is my favorite slot. If you're playing with uber RB heavy guys, Peyton Manning is going to fall to you and you'll have the best QB by a pretty decent margin. Then you can still grab a stud RB with your next snake pick.
  18. Holy cow is someone excited about this news ;)
  19. Bayless (God help him) seems to be the only "writer" in the Bay Area to have noted Baker's fallacies. I'm curious to see if he puts anything to print on Dusty this weekend given the current state of the Cubs. With this all being said, I have a hard time grasping how the Cubs could possibly offer to extend Baker through '08. Is it the fact that the club won two years in a row, filled the seats daily, and filled them again this season ? Is it the fact that so many fans don't realize the failures of Dusty and just give this organization a pass ? I've often wondered how good the relationships are between Baker-Hendry, Hendry-MacPhail, and Baker-MacPhail. Does MacPhail still pull more organization and personnel strings than we realize ? Any word if Scoop Jackson has his weekly race article ready in rebuttal to Skip's Baker Angst?
  20. I hope this means no Furcal more so than anything.
  21. Terrible call by Dickerson to try bunting with Greenberg and two strikes. Now they need to have Patterson steal to give McGehee a chance to bring him around on a single. Bad execution. YES EPATT!
  22. I think Chris should point out the lack of importance of wins and losses (this after hearing his discussion about O' Malley). Walk  tie game :(
