  1. Yes. At least wait for him to suck for a few weeks first. He hasn't proven anything, that he sucks included. He still needs some time, but the early results aren't good. I know everyone wants our prospects to succeed, but Ronny looks absolutely overmatched at the plate. I just hope he can play great defense for the time being. So he had a bad Spring training....I think there are many on this board who will tell you ST means nothing... Aside from that...he hit .300 in 40 games last year at age 22 And aside from that, I'm pretty sure he led the fall league (or winterball I can't remember) in hitting last year. Not to mention that he did get a hit and score a run yesterday. Now I don't think anyone is saying he's the next coming of A-Rod, but I just can't see how someone would come up with him being "crap" and that the "early results aren't good"....From what I can tell the early results are GREAT, but we've got a ways to go before they mean he's going to be a great SS. Please tell me where I'm wrong on thinking this way.
  2. I think calling Ronny Crap "Pure and Simple" is a bit premature and pessemistic. I also would like to know if there are people who believe that being a Cardinal automatically improves a mediocre player because of "luck", who are the same people who keep saying that having good chemistry is not important at all. Not trying to pick a fight at all...I'd just assume that if you don't believe in Chemisry you can't believe in "cardinal luck" and vice versa... That's off point though.... I think at the end of the year we'll have a pretty decent OF. I've got faith in Murton...he's never shown he can't hit, and I think Pierre and Jones will fit in fairly well with the line up....if we need improvement there I think its an area we can improve through mid season moves if we absolutely have to.
  3. All things considered...if that's what it looks like, I can't say I'm upset, or suprised.
  4. I wouldnt be surprised to see this guy take over for Jock Strap by end of season if he keeps it up. That would mean he obviously played well enough to earn it based on Dusty's past use of young players so if Pagan does pass Jones by the end of the year I would be ecstatic. Dusty was quoted as saying he is really excited by the youth of his squad. However, I agree with you. Let's not get too high on Pagan here. It's only 1 game. But I think these stats actually count for something... :D Or are these like Spring Training and don't count because its a blow out?
  5. Winning is much better than losing. And listening to the Reds broadcasters is much better when they are getting blown out.
  6. I about had a heart attack when the reds brodcaster (incorrectly) said Eyre was going to hit for himself.
  7. Yeah...I'd appreciate it if our team could not walk people...and then...maybe...take some walks. that would be good.
  8. Wow....so that thing I said earlier about us having a better pen....yeah...not so much. And Hairston in to replace Ronny at Short? I didn't know Hairston could play short.
  9. I like this Pagan guy...no mater what his religious affilation is.
  10. You are used to our old pen...our new pen will make it a much better season... I hope. no, I pray. no, I BEG.
  11. Umm...Z...could you not get rocked. Thank you.
  12. This is the first time I've heard Bush come on the radio and not changed the station :D
  13. I can't remember...am I going to be this worthless at work EVERY TIME the Cubs play or is it just opening day? :D
  14. I'm gonna try and stay optimistic about Jones.. Maybe they'll give him enough days off against lefties that his numbers will be solid. Hey, Jones has a 1.250 OPS against Harang (in 4 AB's) So what's his story again? 2 years ago, he was hitting great. That's not all that long ago. Injuries? He claims that as they lost some of their better hitters, he felt more pressure to drive in a lot of runs and hit for power, and started to try to pull the ball too much. You know...that makes some sense. Plus...Batting behind Lee and Ramirez he ought to see quite a few good pitches to hit this year. Despite my displeasure with the length of his contract, i've got cautious optimism that he could have an unexpectedly solid year.
  15. Open up multiple pages on a virtual waiting room again? (Cards put additional tickets up for sale today as they finished more of the park than they thought they would...this includes Cubs games)...I know you right click...but hten what do you do?
  16. That is awsome.... As sort of a cross over with the "chemistry" thread...I wonder how this team will do this year...it would be a good case study
  17. I actually knew Mark Patrick back in college in the late 70s (we lived on the same floor of the same residence hall at Ball State). He was later the sports anchor for the Indianapolis CBS television station for several years before getting into sports radio. I smell NSBB Q and A!!! Tell him there are several XM Subscribers :D
  18. So read together, it predicts the Cubs would finish in 2nd, with 92ish wins...8 games back? I'd buy it...although I don't see this Cards team winning 100 games.
  19. Just for clarification...I got my PECOTA #s from the thread below talking about this years projections...I assume, but do not know, that the earlier posters data was correct.
