  1. Ummmmm....He does realize we don't currently have a RF, right? Unless he considers Patterson or Mabry to be it. Here... we.... go... again.... Where we going? Not sure...but we seem to be in a handbasket?
  2. 9 mill a year for 3 years guaranteed? Heck...that almost makes Neifi look like a steal. :D
  3. And I'd generally rather stay far away from trading Patterson to the birds....I don't think Patterson will ever really find it...but Marquis sounds too close to Brogilo to me.
  4. Where he would be picked up by St. Louis and turn into Willie Mays.
  5. Yes, the organization bears no blame in how they handled Kerry last year.     "Hi I'm Kerry Wood, I want to remain injuried and pitch in meaningless games to screw my next season, and possibly my career up, just to piss off Cubs fans that have held hope in me" I never said they didn't....and I'm fairly sure I could have done with out the eye rolls...the organizations use of him doesn't change the fact that he's pitched 2 full seasons out of the last 8. Kerry's mechanics have more to do with his injury problems than his use. And he should just go tinker around with the mechanics he's used since he was boy, on his own, with absolutely no direction from anyone, so that his arm completely falls off and he has no future at all? MAn I wish Steve Stone never opened his stupid mouth about the "mechanics". IT's like a catch phrase now. Sorry, but I don't want Wood just tinkiering around with his own mechanics, he's not a trainer, a physician or a pitching coach. If there are problems, then someone else should/ should have help(ed) him, somewhere along the line. Kerry is one of the biggest gamers, out there, and I respect him a ton. It's a shame what's happening to him. I don't think he wants to make 12 million and not help this team. His committment and dedication to the Cubs should not be up for debate. I don't think he wants to be injured, it pisses me off when people blame kerry for his injuries. First off. I never blamed Kerry for his problem, I just said I was tired of waiting for it to get fixed and hanging hopes on him. Second. I never said he shoudl just "tinker" with his mechanics with no direction from anyone. Last I checked, we've had a pitching coach every year since he's been here...I think its both of their Jobs to get together and figure out something that works...I blame them both and would have been happy to be rid of Rothchild too. As far as his arm falling off if he tinkers...well...it seems to be doing that now, maybe tinkering wouldn't be a bad Idea. Third. I never questioned Kerry being a "gamer" nor did I say "damn...I just know he wants to be injured" I just said I'm tired of him being injured and am tired of the Cubs waiting on him to get healthy. You could have replied with "I don't think it's Kerry's fault" or... "I really think we should stick behind Kerry, he's gonna be great" or whatever...instead you decided go and make a snide comment about my post.

  7. Are you FN kidding me...if we know in December that he's not going to be ready for the season opener then it must be bad enough that he won't be ready for a month or so after that even...that's the very last straw...the last one...I'm done with him. Sorry Kerry, you had my hopes up for 6 years now...I've said "When Wood gets healthy" about 400 times. Screw it. Just give me a guy who can put up a quality start and throw 200 innings a year...I don't care if his name is Steve Traschel or Jeff Suppan, I'm just tired of this constant injury crap.
  8. Wood, Patterson, and Williams for Abreu and Padilla?
  9. That was also part of my question...what's the ETA on Wood this year? I know we shut him down for surgery early...are we talking spring training...a month in...the ASB? Please don't tell me its another year of ...two weeks, which turns into 3 months.
  10. I thought about that, and I'm becoming of the opinion that No Trade Clauses don't really mean that a guy can't be traded...just that he can't be traded to a place he doesnt' want to go. Philly isn't a hole like KC...in a lot of respects its similar to Chicago...There might have to be some incentive for him to waive it, but I don't think its crazy talk.
  11. yeah yeah yeah...no trade clause and all, but I thought about it and thought I'd toss it out there. Would Philly do it? Would we do it? How healthy is Kerry today? Will he be ready for Spring Training? That would likely be front line pitching that would be close to getting it done wouldn't it?
  12. Ok...I know it's not that cool to quote your own quote...but since nobody responded earlier (and it was posted real early this morning when I was at home) I thought I'd throw this number back up there for discussion when people were actually on the site. .395 opb in day games over a 3 year stretch has to be a good thing for us doesn't it? Especially when that includes last year which everyone seems to harp on him having a bad year. If he gives us that in day games and just .320 in night games its a marked improvement from last year.
  13. Has anyone looked at his 3 year average for obp during day games? .395   :D Maybe Jim knew what he was doing afterall.
  14. Looks like he's still here to me...but I'm guessing he's contractually obligated not to give us "scoops" before he gives them to his own paper. However...if he'd just want to...I dont' know...post in threads that might have some validity.... :D
  15. Pie, Hill, Williams, Walker, and two additional pitching prospects for Cabrerra and Pierre. :D
  16. I don't believe Boras is going to back down from his ridiculous demands - there's a team that's going to bite. It won't be Cubs but, some team will bite. You really think he's going to get 7 years 84 million? I'd guess the final deal will be 5 years...something in there...at age 32 that's not ridiculous, but I can't imagine him getting 7 years.
  17. Considering our needs....why aren't we looking a little harder at Johnny Damon? I know Boras was asking for stupid amounts of money, but I he'll likely end up making less than what we were going to offer Furcal. I know it clogs up Pie's route to the Bigs but I'm willing to have to deal with that problem if it means getting a reliable leadoff hitter and center fielder. Thoughts?
  18. Yeah...now if the Braves would just re-sign Furcal...they'red be almost no one to insure Neifi doesn't play 4 days a week.
  19. Now THAT is the kind of reaction I expect around here! :D
  20. I'd add A-Rod, if there is some salary relief thrown in there. But I'd agree. No to Abreu if Big Z is the cost. I agree. Abreu would just feel out of place taking almost a full pitch per at bat than the rest of our team anyway.
  21. Don't forget cars with t-tops and the worlds greatest fans...we've got a lot of those down here too... :D :D People are sensitive today...it must be the holidays (winter meetings)
  22. If the Cards expect that Monday "deadline" to be a promise, they're really, really dumb. Setting a deadline the day Winter Meetings begin is a pretty obvious negotiation move. As a life-long Arkansan, I really appreciate you talking crap about me and the other citizens of the state. When a native Chicagoan wants to play for the Cubs it's called "coming home." When an Arkansan wants to play for the Cards (Arkansas is historically a Cardinal state) it' called wanting to be a "hill billy." Bad day?
  23. Wow...isn't Florida's cupboard about bare now? Does anyone think they'll still get rid of Pierre too? And as a corollary...if the purpose of this is to be able to keep Miggy and Dontrelle in a couple years...wont the fact that the team has NO ONE left serve to drive them away? On a related note...I'm really anxious for Hendry to do SOMETHING to make this team better. Just cutting/releasing/kicking to the Curb Jose Macias might pacify me for the day...but We better see huge improvement in our CF/RF/Leadoff in the next month or I'm officially going to be moody. (take that Cubs) :D
  24. That seems very cheap. I thought he'd get 4/46 or something like that...unless he was just dead set on SanDiego I can't see why we didn't push this opportunity further. oh well...at least he's not in St. Louis.
