  1. As Bad as Dusty sometimes is...I don't expect him to go with 4 outfielders and no SS. :D
  2. I know this might not make a ton of sense...but it does to me...so here goes. Does anyone else think that Z might only be an "ace" when he doesn't think he has to be "the" ace? He went into this year thinking he had to be "the" ace and honestly hasn't shown much....does anyone expect more when Prior and Wood are back and he's just another guy...and not "the" guy?
  3. Yes I hate to say this...but Damn sometimes I wish TLR (otherwise known as He who must not be named) were our manager. Frequent 1 pitch outs are not good baseball, I rarely see cards players make them down here...even their crappy players...its sooooo frustrating watching this team play sometimes.
  4. Tell me Perez didn't just make an out on one pitch.
  5. from the looks of gamecast this guy can't hit the zone...so why aren't all of our guys on base?
  6. Barrett follows it up with a two pitch at bat. Welcome back to Cubs Baseball.
  7. Ok...at the risk of having the "swing at the best pitch argument"...JP actually only took 2 pitches to make an out after Z's 27 pitch inning. That is not good baseball. At least Ronny made him work a bit.
  8. Pierre Cedeno Lee Ramirez Walker Barrett Murton Jones You know, if everyone is producing as they can, that almost looks like a solid major league lineup. :D We'll have to wait 8-10 weeks to find out.
  9. yeah I heard that too. Pierre Cedeno Walker ARam Barrett Murton Jones Perez Zambrano why does Busty hate Hairston so much? I like Cedeno in that 2nd spot in the order more and more... Ditto that. All things considered...that isn't a bad lineup. I'm still pleasantly surprised everytime I see Neifi down at the bottom of the order (not that he's in the order(that never suprises me) but that Dusty has finally, it seems, realized that he isn't a #2 hitter). On a side note...I think there is a real chance that now that Ronny has been given the chance, he may never give that #2 spot up.
  10. Prior, Wood, Lee...what more can the baseball gods do to us this year?
  11. Really? I mean...I like Murton a lot too, but I think the chances of him being as good as Cabrera are low enough that the trade would definitely be do-able. Stats so far for this season... Cabrera AVG .346 | HR 3 | RBI 11 | OBP .443 | SLG .635 Murton AVG .280 | HR 2 | RBI 9 | OBP .345 | SLG .480 I"d give up all 3 of them. Miggy is that special of a player.
  12. http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-tournaments/view/name/Carlos_Zambrano&year=&name_id=9237 Ok...so I'm a bit of a Poker geek to go along with my baseball habits...(I've been known to follow poker play-by-play on an off day)...and I came accross something interesting...Check out this entrant...and he's in the top 15 in the current 25K event at the bellagio....so THAT's why his elbow was hurting from the computer last year.
  13. Ummm...so is there going to be an update today...or is the update that there will be no update?
  14. I was watching the game in bed, and fell asleep when Aardsma came in, then woke up just before the collision and couldn't fall back to sleep. Aside from the Lee thing...West Coast trips make me cranky....going to bed at midnight or later doesn't work with the 6:00 a.m. wakeup call.
  15. I went to bed right after Aardsma gave up the two runs last night fully expecting to wake up to a loss...this is worse. But, like a train wreck, I can't turn away...I missed sportscenter this morning...anyone have a link to the video?
  16. This is one heck of a way for Walker to be guaranteed a spot in the lineup every day. Two words: John Mabry. Searching for the emoticon... oh, yes, here it is: :pukel: Mabry will start the StL series, I can smell it. ](*,) I'd love for it to be Mabry, with Walker at 2nd...as opposed to the Neifi option. Especially with Mabry's history in STL...I think he'll want to do well. Just say no to Neifi.
  17. so are we talking extended period of time injury here or just banged up and with the off day should be back for St.Louis? I know there is no way of knowing...but the people who watched it what are your thoughts?
  18. I personally think Drew should have been walked BOTH times he hurt us. When he drove in the first run and when he drove in the winning run. Kent hadn't looked good and I think we could have got him out a lot easier.
  19. Remember that RBI single he had against Wuertz in the Sunday Night game? It was on a pitch exactly like you described, and he hammered it past Cedeno. But it didn't go out of the park. If he hits it on the ground at least we have a chance ...when its in the seats we don't.
  20. Every AB to Pujols should be nothing but fastballs, sliders and changeups...low and away...2-3 inches off the plate. If he swings and misses...great. If he swings and hits its likely a ground ball but if not, its hard to put it out of the park...if he just takes it and they get called balls...so be it. .
  21. I've got an idea...lets hit the ball...maybe score some runs...and if at anytime during the night Penny has an inning under 10 pitches the whole team has to do laps!
  22. I was just getting ready to say that good things are happening in Pittsburgh tonight! :D
  23. Julio was what...about 2X that guys weight...the wreck was great...
  24. If he wins 15 + games I'd be fine with him on a 1 year deal in the 5-7 million range. Especially if it means we trade excess pitching for a real, productive, right fielder.
  25. It was the first time in a long time I'd sat down and watched a full game Scully worked. It was truly a joy. He's amazing. What's really impressive is that he does it all by himself....and if you weren't specifically listening to hear a 2nd guy you'd never miss him. I had two favorite lines he had last night. "Maddux is like a diamond cutter, every pitch is so precise" And... "Furcal reaches out to bunt and leaves that one in Barrett's glove" He's just damn good. Yeah, I love the fact he is in the booth by himself. You don't get any of that inane chatter that you are bound to get with a two man booth I just sat there with my wife last night and could not wait for the next person to come up to bat to see what new information that he would give regarding our players. He was so informative. I didn't realize that Murton won all those home run challenges. he simply has information about everyone - and a great storyteller. How about the one when Lee was like 11 and went to a baseball camp and the person running the camp was Dusty Baker. That was funny. Scully was completely incredible... You've got me looking fwd to tonights game :D
