  1. It was the first time in a long time I'd sat down and watched a full game Scully worked. It was truly a joy. He's amazing. What's really impressive is that he does it all by himself....and if you weren't specifically listening to hear a 2nd guy you'd never miss him. I had two favorite lines he had last night. "Maddux is like a diamond cutter, every pitch is so precise" And... "Furcal reaches out to bunt and leaves that one in Barrett's glove" He's just damn good.
  2. I'll go so far as to say that if he isn't significantly over .500....or alternatively doesn't at least finish the year on a hell of a streak which gets us into the playoffs, where he continues to dominate...then he'll be as good as gone next year. I hope he does both of htose thing...cause I really like his mound presence and his makeup...now if is right arm would just comply.
  3. So its almost 2:00 Pacific time. Anyone know when Wood was supposed to throw for Rothschild? Also...any reports that he looked back to his 2003 form and is ready to join the rotation would also be greatly appreciated. (Please put any bad news in a different thread...I can't take it at this point)
  4. base clogger
  5. And to think...we had guys like Jose Macias and Enrique Wilison taking up space on our roster at times last year....you can't tell me we couldn't have found room for a guy like that.
  6. Pittsburgh just let this guy go?
  7. Browse the game threads. My only contention is that he is far from "crap" which is what Meat, I think unfairly, labeled him. From what I've seen of him defensively I think he'll be pretty good....Heck, Jim Edmonds has 3 errors so far this year...I don't think he'll have 50.
  8. you realize you've been saying crap like this all through the spring and the season thusfar, right? why not just quit being so stubborn and admit that you just might be wrong? i realize that's difficult for you to do, but it's something to take into consideration. Meat is also the guy who thinks Ronny is "crappy" so take it with a grain of salt/pessimism. :D (Not to hijack the thread...but Ronny's still hitting .351)
  9. Getting Wood back on April 30 would be great! Interesting. An April 30th return would mean that he'd pitch just one rehab start. His endurance should be pretty good at that point, but I was still thinking more along the lines of at least two rehab starts. I'm just amazed we're using "Kerry Wood" and "start" in the same sentence...that's progress as far as I'm concerned.
  10. Thank you IZZY!!! (FYI...living in St.Louis often sucks)
  11. As I typed that....they did hit a HR....Izzy shakey again...just keep the cards down.
  12. Well that was fun. Go Brewers....thats about the only way I can stand the rest of the day...
  13. Screw firing dusty...I say we fire every hitting instructor in the Cubs system...I'm so sick and tired of two guys seeing a total of 3 pitches....especially when they are just helping guys like Milton stick around
  14. Did Todd Walker really swing at the first pitch? No wonder this dude is in the 7th inning.
  15. No...i'm thinking 6-5. We'll give up one more run here soon and then score 2 in the bottom of the ninth that would have tied it...but didn't because of the extra run we gave up.
  16. Now would have been a nice time to see Mabry and Barrett...but that's just me.
  17. How do guys like Milton always get to the 7th inning or later against us? Oh...yeah..I forgot...we beat ourselves.
  18. 87, I'm fine with him staying in. Problem is...I don't see him getting through the next inning with only 13 pitches...so i think he should have been pulled....
  19. Great...we start of the inning with Hank White...this should really kick the offense into gear. Seriously...why are Barrett, Walker, and Ramirez all down on the same day? it should NEVER happen absent 3 injuries...last I counted there was maybe one.
  20. Also...anyone know Mabry's #s against leftys? He surely would be just as good an option at third as Neifi is.
  21. So I was thinking..I like this murton Cat.
  22. that wasn't good...and I just saw STL tied it....man i hate this somedays.
  23. I was going to say..."its early...its only 4 runs"...but then I looked at the lineup....and thought...My God...how will we ever score 4 runs.
