  1. OH NO! Ronny - we'll miss you!
  2. That's just how the dailyherald released it. The story broke yesterday. That's just great quality control . . . no wonder print media is so relevant these days!
  3. the linked story was published this morning (7/8) at 8:01 am and says, "Atkins is available for tonight's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field." WHHAAA???
  4. cbssports.com gametracker is keeping up nicely
  5. cue the comments about how a 10-pitch at-bat is helpful no matter the outcome . . .
  6. There's never anything good on WGN? My Grandma just LOVES "In the Heat of the Night." That Carroll O'Connor is so talented!
  7. :clapping: :clapping: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :clapping: :clapping:
  8. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/02/cubs-release-tv-schedule-for-2010.html So, this means I won't be able to watch opening day????? :banghead: :banghead: (I live in central Illinois, but I get Comcast Sports Net)
  9. +1 +2 I hope he tears it up and everyone else on the Brewers fails miserably. really? so the three of you agree, one of your favorite cubs of all time is a guy who played 85 games in a cub uniform? Actually 5 of us agree. seis
  10. OK, so after reading this I decided to get on the wait list. I don't live in Chicago anymore, nor do I have the money. But the good news is I'm number 112,701. So maybe in another quarter centrury I'll be closer to Chicago and have some money . . . to take my grandkids to games!
  11. I hear ya. I've heard you got a nice stadium over there in KC, right? That's something to appreciate . . . right?? :old_alright:
  12. Eric Karros got 2 votes???!!!???
  13. Well, this mystery team is going to sign Bradley, and now Harden? Hmmmmmmmm . . .
  14. Excluding you? Perhaps instead of saying "from here on out" I should have used "starting after this post"? Christ... or, perhaps: "no one should be allowed to post in this thread unless it's an update on a possible trade . . . starting riiiiiiiiiiiight now!
  15. sounds like something this club would do -- an aging vet, with pretty good numbers . . . could end up being good (see: Andre Dawson) or baaaaad (see: Todd Hundley)
  16. I don’t know if this has been posted already – but here is nice video with the whole Ricketts clan talking about their vision for the team. I’m struck by how down to earth these people are. I’m trying not to get too excited, but . . . http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-31-cubs-tom-ricketts-oct31,0,1791650.story
  17. Interesting . . . http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2009/oct/27/collier-county-group-trying-bring-cubs-hold-thursd/
  18. Botched calls on a close play are one thing (they happen, they suck and I agree that umps should be held accountable over the long term), but what ticks me off to no end is the increased bravado I’ve seen in certain umps over the past few seasons. A hitter mutters after a bad call, a pitcher reacts with emotion after a walk – and rather than try to calm the situation down, they seem to relish confrontation. That is 100% avoidable and umps should be called to the carpet by the league, their union and their peers for this kind of provoking behavior.
  19. All Hendry said was that he would wait until the end of the season. That is less than 2 weeks away. I'm pretty sure that there is nobody in Chicago that wanted(or still wants) Bradley to succeed more than Hendry. After all he is the guy that put $30MM into him. Then say "we will talk after the season", instead of making a smartass little comment like,"nothing to talk about, hes home for the rest of the year." I mean come on I’m surprised Hendry didn’t throw in a “what else you got?” . . .
  20. ROTFL! :rotfl:
  21. Did I say we were a shoe-in? We may lose the next 6 games in a row....but the odds are better that we WIN the next 6. We are in a goddam tough spot but the Phils and Cards are the only teams that feel safe...all the teams behind them are nervous. What do we have to be nervous about? We are in the sh*t house already! Look at the teams we play the next week....you tell me we can't beat them? E.J....don't we have 22 games left? (I think) I count 23 left . . . but I'm an idiot
