A noble act for a noble cause. Whats the over under on # of pages after the trade is actually announced (if its ever announced)...my guess is that it woudl be suprisingly little...I mean...seriously, how much more can be said about Brian Roberts? Petrick is on the 40 man roster, so for him to be sent back to the minor leagues he has to use up one of his options. The rest are non-roster invitees, so they can just get assigned back to the minor league camp. OK, but why does he have to actually go to Iowa right now? Why can't he use an option and just go to minor league camp in sunny, warm AZ???

All of those guys sent to minor league camp just need to wander across the complex to minor league camp. The guy optioned to Iowa has to go back to Iowa immediately and wait there until the rest of the team arrives from minor league camp in a couple of weeks. DANG! Seems like a raw deal for Petrick . . . what, did they need somebody to go turn on the butane heaters at Sec Taylor??? "We'll see you in a few weeks budy! Stay warm!"

What's the difference between being "returned to Minor League camp" and "Optioned to Triple-A Iowa"??? I'm probably an idiot for not knowing . . .

Wait, didn't Demp start a few games for us - or am I crazy??? I thought I remembered the Dempster experiment ending poorly and him quickly returning to the pen . . . He made a start, but I'm not sure that qualifies as being a starting pitcher. Didn't the fatter Jon Lieber (David Weathers) make a start against the Cubs in 04? If he attempted to become a regular starting pitcher again, I think you can safely say that he hasn't been a starting pitcher since the late 90's. It might be simple semantics, but I think that if you are the starting pitcher then you are a starting pitcher . . . -

I don't want to come off sounding too gay . . . but it was Marshall Field's that was bought-out by Macy's. Marshall's is a discount clothing store, and not the same at all. At least that's what all these babes in my lap are telling me . . . :lol:

I agree, but in my (warped) mind, I think the money pocketed from a naming rights sale should go to further support the actual baseball club. In other words, I see naming rights as a necessary evil - we whore ourselves out a bit, get past it, and wake up the next morning with some extra dough! What ticks me about this is that it sounds like Zell is going take the money and run . . . and leave nothing on the nightstand for the Cubs to even get a cab home . . .!
