  1. Right, because that was the point of this thread - to imply that the Cubs will never lose another game, ever!
  2. This team - while not perfect - is fun to watch and has an odd tendency to win games!! So I'm jumping on back2backjax's positive bandWGN!!! Who's with us??
  3. WOW - that is a lot of questions, but all good ones . . . As far as parking near Wrigley - I always try to avoid it. On night/weekend games you can do the park and ride at Devry - but unfortunately that doesn’t help you. I am going up Thursday - and I like to park in China Town and take the L in. Are you staying in a downtown hotel? If so, they'll let you park early - even if it's before check in time (call to make sure, but my wife worked at a hotel downtown for years and that kind of thing was routine). Gates open at 11:20 and that is about when the Cubs will be wrapping up BP. The Reds will be after that. As far as pizza goes, Ginos is a trap – but a dang good trap. Then there’s always Uno’s (29 E Ohio) and Due’s (619 N Wabash Ave) – they really are the best! Good luck - as long as you make it to the park by first pitch your day will be great!!
  4. I'M IN (or is it "ON" :?: ). Either way, I want to send the kid some love from Central IL!!! GO RONNY!!!!!
  5. I grew up in the west Chicago suburbs, surrounded by abusive White Sox fans. So that was the team I hated. It wasn't until I moved to Springfield, IL and was surrounded by abusive Cards fans that I started hating them. My question is: Why do people hate the Cubs so much??
  6. Thanks for the report CR! I'm taking my boys next week and we have 1st row Bleacher Box. It'll be Sam's first trip to Wrigley and I would have been really bummed if we were "obstructed!"
  7. More reason to hate Neifi. He assaults the elderly. LOL!! Dude, you made Ramen come out of my nose!!!
  8. I emailed Slezak and asked her to clarify her staement. This was her reply: So I guess this is just a line-of-sight issue after all. Mad Props to Carol for her quick reply!
  9. From Carol Slezak's article in today's Suntimes http://www.suntimes.com/output/cubs/cst-spt-wrigg07.html Is she saying that the new Bleacher Box seats in right include obstructed views?? If so, this is insane! I'm sitting there on 4/13 against the Reds - if there is a pole in my way I'll tear it down!!
  10. Thanks Garwilly! I really appreciate the info!!!
  11. HEY GANG! Sorry if this question has been posed and answered before (I’d use the Search function, but well – you know…). I’m heading up with my 3 oldest sons to see the Cubbies kill the Reds on 4/13 and they have been asking if they can get autographs and if we’ll get to see batting practice. I can’t find a schedule anywhere. Does anyone know 1) when the gates open for a 1:20 game? 2) when the home and away teams have batting practice? 3) if we get there early, is it possible to get close to the field to try and get some autographs (we’ve got bleacher box seats)?? Thanks for your help! GO CUBS!
  12. funny - but that particular Photoshop gem has been "exposed" for quite a while now . . .
  13. I'm not a baseball stats geek (funny, 'cause stats/data is my job!) - but I was really impressed with this article. It laid out in pretty simple terms how "two batters with such similar seasons can have such different outlooks." Very Interesting! Great stuff . . .
  14. I seem to recall that he pitched on the Italian National team in Sydney - he also did a stop on our local (and now defunct) Frontier League team in Springfield, IL. He was one of those "winding road to the majors" type players that local sports writers love to rave about - a bit like JoeBo . . .
  15. People, people, you forget that our entire ’06 team philosophy seems to be predicated on catching lighting in a bottle - over and over again! (need I remind you of our starting right fielder??) My point is only this - you can't catch lighting without a bottle . . .
  16. In 2002 he was 11-5 with a 4.02 ERA. Sure, he was playing above his potential, but what's this costing us if he stinks? Maybe a few hotdogs from the HoHoKam concession stand?
  17. This is from today's Suntimes: http://www.suntimes.com/output/sports/cst-spt-cub03.html Living down here in Cardinal country - I can tell you that the uncomfortable man-love for Jason was just insane back in 2002-2003. If he can regain some of his old form, then JH might just have found a pretty good sleeper for the pen!
  18. Can somebody explain to me how seating will work at Wrigley's new "Batter's Eye" restaurant? It's part of the new bleacher expansion project . . . I know other stadiums have similar restaurants, and I've always been curious about how it works. Is it for game-day ticket holders only? (i.e., do you buy a ticket then go to the restaurant?) Are tables reserved ahead of time? Can you stay there for the whole game, or are you expected to move on at some point? Can I buy a cheap SRO ticket but actually spend my time enjoying the game from the restaurant? So many questions . . . Thanks Gang!! Rob (aka Springfield_CUBBY)
  19. He played longer as a Cub (5 years vs. 4 with the Cards) . . . He pitched more innings as a Cub (491.6 vs. 395.5 with the Cards) . . . He has more saves as a Cub (133 vs. 127 with the Cards) . . . He was my favorite player as a kid and it angers me that he's going in the HoF as a Tard!
  20. "The silver lining of all this could be we end up having Walker to start at second base next season." According to Miek Kiley at the SunTimes, our pal Neifi is still projected as the starter at 2nd base: (http://www.suntimes.com/output/cubs/cst-spt-cub03.html) I'm not sure what Todd did to anger everybody, but my life is over if the "Neifer" comes out of ST as the starter . . .
  21. Here is the clip - it's worth watching!!! You may have to cut and paste the location into your browser, but it should work - I tried it . . . mms://a1503.v108692.c10869.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/1503/10869/v0001/mlb.download.akamai.com/10869/2005/open/topplays/archive08/081005_ariflo_lowell_hiddenball_350.wmv?ct1=mlb
  22. Very interesting. Although the commentator, Mr. Freeman, blows it at the end. The Cubs have NOT gone 96 years without winning a pennant. They won it last in 1945 - a mere 60 years ago. They went 98-56 and lost the WS in seven games. GO CUBS!!!
  23. The way you phrased this (even though it is a quote from the article) does not convey the fact that this is what one writer THINKS should happen. It is by no way even yet a rumor.
  24. Juan Pierre = Neifi Perez Felix Pie = Ronny Cedeno Yeah....what? I think its an analogy. Because those values are far from equivilent. I think he meant: Juan Pierre : Neifi Perez as Felix Pie : Ronny Cedeno Actually, I believe it's more like: QUESTION: Nefi Perez is to Ronny Cedano as Juan Pierre is to whom? ANSWER: Felix Pie
  25. I agree. I'm not advocating selling the farm for him - but he does have an upside that cannot be denied.
