    I'm not so sure of that. I think many fans have no idea of the breakdown of how the minors interact with MLB. I agree those guys would have mentioned it many times over but I really don't think the casual fan would know all the minor league info. Heck, I'm still learning stuff and I've been a fan for many a score! You don't need to know how it all works to know that Pujols was not Cubs property. If the guy cares enough about the Cubs to go to their website and ask Muskat a question, he's more than just a casual fan. A casual fan wouldn't even know who Pujols is. Huh??

    Best of luck to Glendon in whatever he chooses to do in his future. As bad as he was at times (and he certainly had good stretches too), it was always hard to see him fail because he appeared to really take it hard. Seems like a great guy.

    I'm usually one to look for the positive side of things, but I can't help but notice this... the vesting option is based on the number of plate appearances. With that in mind, it's hard to think why a player would agree to a contract like that if he wasn't promised that he'd have the opportunity to get that many plate appearances. I like Floyd off the bench. I don't like him as an everyday player though. I wonder what Hendry and Piniella really have planned for him.

    All this talk of the first African American coach in the Super Bowl is going to get old, real quick. Who cares what color the coach is? How about talking about the teams!

    Wow, that's great news! I know we have to be careful in getting excited about good news related to Prior, but this is outstanding to hear!

    18 million is a heck of a lot of money for a guy who only plays in 20% of the games. All things considered though, Hendry has to pay him that.

    I know for the past couple years, there has been one thread with updates on what's happening at the Cubs Convention. With it starting today, we might as well get this one going. I, as well as many others I'm sure, would appreciate any updates from people who listen live on WGN Radio, and of course those who actually attend.

    One of my long-term goals is to visit every stadium in baseball. If Sammy signs with the Rangers, I just might make my way to Arlington this year.

    Is he good on defense? The reason I ask is because he obviously sucks as a whole, and he can't hit with RISP, so I really don't see what Hendry would see in him. I see no point in this move, but hopefully he won't make it past ST.

    I didn't realize he was that young. I also had forgotten how awful he was overall as a Cub. But he definitely had some big HR's for us.
