  1. You could've just turned the channel.
  2. I don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread, but it really pisses me off that ESPN talks about McGwire in the first couple paragraphs of their headline story before talking about Ripken and Gwynn.
  3. I've always rooted against the Cowboys, but I want them to win tonight just to knock Seattle out.
  4. However many people do no renew, that is how many are available. Right, but what I meant was how many season ticket holders do the Cubs allow there to be? As in, in a sold out game, how many people there are season ticket holders? I guess I could've worded that better.
  5. I signed up in September of '06, and I'm currently number 12,087. I would imagine that a big chunk of the 16,000 people that have singed up since then don't have a big desire to buy season tickets. They probably just wanted to get their name on the list just to have it there. Does anyone know how many full season ticket packages are available each year? Does it increase or decrease at all or is it a set number year-to-year?
  6. Here's who I think will win today... Kansas City Seattle New England Philly I'm rooting for KC to win it all.
  7. This is one of my earliest Cub memories. I was in 4th grade and can remember sitting in my living room that night watching the incident.
  8. Whoops! I obviously meant go Redskins. It's been hard keeping track of all the things that had to have gone right for the Rams.
  9. Although we had a 1% chance of making the playoffs 2 or 3 weeks ago, with this weekends matchups, I'm liking the Rams chances. Go Giants, Saints and Eagles!
  10. I'm surprised at the amount of people who are saying they don't know who he is. Not that he's a star or anything near that, but you don't see people stating that they don't know something too often on here. I know who he is, and he sucks. I hope the Cubs don't have any interest in him.
  11. Cedeno's OBP was .005 higher than Neifi's. That is pretty darned insignificant. Ronny was just as bad as Neifi. Seriously. It cracks me up when people try to say that Cedeno was better than Neifi last year. I'd take .254/.266/.343/.610 over .245/.271/.339/.610 every day of the week. Some people seem to forget that a hit is better than a walk. What do you consider a better AB.....a 10 pitch walk with no one on base or a first pitch single with no one on base? Obviously I'll take the 10 pitch walk with no one on base in that particular situation. My point was that I'd prefer to have a team full of guys that can hit their way on versus a team full of guys that can walk their way on. The ability to hit is more valuable than the ability to take a walk. Batters do not have the ability to hit...they have the ability to make contact. Some hitters make more quality contact than others which usually results in more hits, but you are forgettting that once the ball leaves the bat, the hitter loses control of the outcome except for a home run (and using speed to stretch doubles into triples, etc.). The ability to take a walk is more valuable than the ability to simply put the ball in play. So you'd rather have a team of guys that walk and never get hits, versus a team that hits but never walks? I'd take the team that hits and never walks, and I gaurantee you that my team would beat your team, all other things equal. Hitting is so much better than walking.

  14. Thanks. So LD% is just the percentage of balls in play that are line drives then? Or is it the percentage of at bats that result in line drives?
  15. Is expected BABIP the same across the board for all pitchers, or does it depend on the actual pitcher? How does a person come up with a pitcher's expected BABIP?
  16. I'm curious as to what teams would be interested. Whomever they are, I wish Sammy nothing but the best and hope he plays well! It's too bad the Cubs won't consider bringing him back.
  17. dude your sig, come on now. Seriously. What the hell is that all about?
  18. Why in the hell would Hendry consider platooning Murton? Has he ever embraced a platoon in any way? I ask because I don't remember it happening. If Floyd is signed, I see our outfield as: Murton-Soriano-Floyd, with Jones being dealt.
  19. Man, F that
  20. Good call, it definitely looked like he did on that replay.
  21. FOUL IDIOTS!
  22. Butterfield sucks so bad.
  23. Man, there have been way too many fouls called this game. Let them play!
  24. Exciting game so far!
