  1. I was just looking at John Smoltz's baseball reference page and noticed that he might pass the 3000 K mark this year, and I took a look at a few other players to see how close they were to certain milestones. I thought it'd be cool to have a thread about what players are closing on on monumental numbers. Listed below are a handful of ones that I came across. Anyone know of any others? Feel free to add them. -John Smoltz needs 222 K's to reach 3000 for his career. -Ken Griffey, Jr. needs 37 HR's to reach 600 for his career. -Manny Ramirez needs 30 HR's to reach 500 for his career. -Alex Rodriguez needs 36 HR's to reach 500 for his career. -Tom Glavine needs 10 wins to reach 300 for his career. -Randy Johnson needs 20 wins to reach 300 for his career.
  2. Anyone else think of Dave Stewart when they read the thread title? For some reason, I did. (I didn't think that they signed him)
  3. Nice, I've been waiting for this to come out. I always write all the televised games on my planner so I don't miss any games that I can watch here.

Wow, Bill Hall is a heck of a ballplayer. I didn't realize how good he was last year until just now. I'd still take Soriano over him though.
  5. Who was that White Sox fan that started a new thread for EVERY transaction on rotoworld?
  6. You can download games onto your computer? How?
  7. I don't know what you guys think, or what the media talk has been, but Rex Grossman is the reason the Bears lost last night. He's just awful.
  8. Griese isn't any better. He can't possibly be worse than Grossman. Rex doesn't do anything well. Griese is worse. How so? Griese has a much higher completion percentage in his career, and his TD to INT ratio is much better as well. And I'm assuming he knows how to take a snap. How exactly do you come to the conclusion that Griese is worse?

  10. Are you serious?! Why is this guy the starting quarterback? Didn't the Bears sign Griese last offseason to a pretty decent sized contract? Rex Grossman is the worst QB to ever start the Super Bowl.
  11. My God, Rex Grossman freaking sucks.
  12. Ever hear of a game thread? I'd like to add that the spectacle currently playing itself out on the field is an affront to the sport of football. Nevermind.
  13. What's the official kickoff time? I thought it was 5:30.
  14. Watching the Super Bowl and posting on the internet at the same time? People do that? It does when there are minimal amounts of Bears fans here, and I'd rather watch this game alone than with people who don't really care. I can definitely understand that. I've never been a big fan of going to Super Bowl parties, cause I like to actually watch the game (and the commercials). This year, I'm watching the game with my girlfriend in my living room. But with that said, I can't imagine myself watching my favorite team play in the Super Bowl and be sitting at my computer talking about it online while it was going on. To each his own though.

  16. How do you know that for sure? No offense, but I doubt Hendry tells reporters all the deals that he's discussing. OK. Believe what you will. I think my track record holds up pretty well. I guess it does, and I wasn't questioning your integrity. I was just asking how you knew for sure to make such a declarative statement. Has Hendry flat out told you that he has zero interest in Ichiro, or is it that you haven't heard anything regarding possible talks? Because there's a big difference between the two.

  18. For those of us who are too lazy to sift through the articles on Cubs.com, what do they project the rotation to be?
  19. I don't know why, but I don't like Will Carroll. He really comes off as a know-it-all type.
  20. Awesome! Glad to see that he was willing to take a pay cut. I hope he has an awesome year!
  21. I'm really considering making a trip down there for at least one of those games. I'm not completely sure yet though.
  22. hardly great, decent i guess. Wilson isn't anything special, but one million in this market is a great deal in my opinion.
  23. Who's performing at half time this year? I haven't heard anything.
  24. I love that clip. I even managed to work it into a presentation in one of my classes during my last semester of college.
