  1. Now they have both guys from Chips and a former dictator. Omar likes to collect players in themes.
  2. The amount of singles that are just out of the reach of a SS are much greater than a double/triple in the gap. Of course, the impact of range of the LF/RF will come into play than a 2B/3B. Wouldn't that be like the difference between a power and a singles hitter?
  3. I knew raw was a player back in his day but I didn't think he could charge prices like that. What percent of a jump is that?
  4. What makes you think Pelini would be offered the LSU job? Who do you think they would go for if not Pelini? Spurrier. Sorry but he's coming to Syracuse to coach in front of 20,000 fans sitting on their hands. Why would he leave SC for LSU? I think that he could make a heck of a program there.
  5. So the SEC just trades coaches?
  6. Thanks. I couldn't think of who they had in the minors. I guess I'm the only person here that doesn't think Milledge is going to be that good? Personally, I think he's overrated and from what I've read a pretty selfish player.

  8. The Nats might be able to make a heck of a trade with this guy and some others. Just wondering but do they have enough to make a trade for Santana?
  9. You're going to need the Wolf to clean up this mess. Just a tip, bring some good coffee.
  10. Have the Sox gutted their system or is it still in ok shape?
  11. Murton and if Chicago takes all the Starbucks that would seal the deal. Is he a righty or lefty...I can never remember regarding this guy. He is lefty. Can hit but RHP, but is an auto out vs. LHP. Basically, Jacque Jones. So trade Infante for him then!

  13. Eastern Bias! I love watching that kid and I think his value is very underrated due to Slaton. I really do believe that no one really stands out and I think the Oregon QB should be the winner but his injury will bounce him out.
  14. I think it also depends on how good the Cowboys are when he's playing them. If they were 5-11 and still beating him there I'd say heck yeah it's a problem for him but if they always have a very good team then maybe not as much.
  15. My guess would be that it has happened, and probably on more than one occasion. While '03 Florida did have Juan Pierre and Luis Castillo batting at the top of the order, the rest of their line up featured all RH hitters except for the platoon of Hollandsworth and Conine. That same year, the Cubs only had Lofton (who replaced Patterson) and Simon platooning with Karros. Here was the Cubs roster in 2003: Lofton, Grudz, Sosa, Alou, Ramirez, Karros, Miller, Gonzalez It's a good thing Karros hit 800 that year! I always liked what Lofton brought to the table, a change of pace...not so much that he was a lefty but a different type of hitter than the rest.
  16. Me too. Gill did a really nice job in Buffalo, they really stunk before he got there. What would you do if you were Pelini, go to Nebraska or LSU if Miles leaves? I think you take the LSU job. I may be biased, but I think Nebraska is going to be down for a little while. I think offensively they have done well but I don't know enough about them returning any of their impact O players. I agree with you that they won't be a top team for awhile though and that's to bad if it's true because I'd like to see them be a 9-3, 8-4 type team.
  17. You're shopping Kelly all over the place! He'd be a solid choice.
  18. The only impact bat that I see that meets the Cubs requirements outside of Fukudome is Milton Bradley. Geoff Jenkins is probably next in line, but I think I'd rather see them grab Jose Guillen over Jenkins, but they won't do that. Free agent wise you're right. I think Hendry might pull an interesting trade for a left bat if Fukedome doesn't sign. I would have loved Bradley if he didn't have the knee problem until July or so. Jenkins/Burnitz they seem the same to me and I agree Gullen would be better.....did he have steroid problems? Or maybe they can get Jones from Detroit for Hill and Veal! Possibly realistic trade targets: Hamilton Dunn Griffey Ibanez Church Scott Drew Garrett Anderson Ethier McLouth Kubel FAs: Green Lofton Jenkins Bradley Ohh yeah, and Barry Bonds. Hmmm...you've got me thinking. I wonder if the Red Sox would be interested in Prior? I'd like to see a nice blockbuster with Prior and others sent to the Red Sox for Drew and others.
  19. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4155/is_20070526/ai_n19179908 Yeah it's a funky thing and I think it depends on the pitcher too. Some guys need to get in that groove while others it doesn't matter who's up. It would be an interesting thing to study. I still say you have to get the best 8 hitters you can at the 8 positions that hit, and not worry about R/L. If there's a question as to which equal guy to get, go ahead and play around with mixing it up. But the Cubs need hitters, not any specific type. Has a team ever won the WS with 8 righties? I agree with what you're saying but I'm curious if it's ever been done.

  22. I wish I thought of that one because I had to pee once and couldn't leave the darn game and had to wait until the end. We had a kid (3rd baseman)on the Varsity call timeout, talk to the ump...and ran to go #2. He came back 5 minutes later and the other coach was livid because they stopped the game and waited for him.
  23. Yeah I saw that Edsall from UConn went down there. You know the funny thing about coaching is that a guy has a lot of success like Ferentz and turns down job after job. The, he has a few 7-5...6-6 years and then there are mumblings about having him leave. This is why I say go make the bucks when you can and go where you'll be most happy.
