  1. Are these guys any good? I'd love to have the Padres overpay to get a hometown guy in the fold.
  2. Even Meph will think we'd win that one. Not so fast my friend. Puts big raisin head on.
  3. You were a little peeved when he sent your pictures from Jamaica to the NSBB picture thread.
  4. I'm all for patience, but how long has Pie been in the organization? It's like the Don Baylor Corey Patterson dance all over again. Other than the bunt thing, I don't see anything wrong with Lou stressing OBP to Pie. What's wrong with drag bunting once in a while?
  5. Sure sounds like your head coach used his alma mater to screw you out of millions. They spend more than that on top recruits, why not a coach?
  6. Dodgers are looking to trade Pierre this offseason... That alone should get them thinking about what they want from a hitter. Why did they let him go? OK, now apply that to other hitters. The Fool me once theory should be applied here Mr. Hendry.
  7. But does Crawford boot Soriano off the leadoff spot?
  8. There are SOOO many rumors floating around here right now it's not even funny. At this point I'm just waiting until something is finalized one way or the other, so I don't get caught up in the hoopla. I won't be upset either way. Frankly, I might be glad if LM leaves at this point. Wow, if that's true then Herbstreit's credibility is going to take a huge hit. Not as many as he did when he played QB for Thee Ohio State!

Frankly, I might be glad if LM leaves at this point. The Ann Arbor and Detroit papers are saying he's staying with LSU. Apparently, there's a 1:45 press conference scheduled in Atlanta. Guess we'll know then, but it looks like he's staying. I don't really mind him not coming to Michigan, but ESPN got my hopes up with saying Tunuta was going to be DC. Maybe they meant Miles stays and Tunuta is going to be HC. If this is true I wonder who your boys are going to turn to now.
  10. Link. Maybe it's not all your homeboy after all!
  11. Wow...can you say leverage? This seems like it's going to be messy no matter what decision is made.
  12. Link. That's our very own Jim Hendry there folk....looking for someone left-handed who can run. Oh Jesus! He's your homeboy. Can't you talk to him and put some sense into his head?
  13. So is Miles coaching the team in the bowl or is an LSU man going to coach them? I'd boot his butt out now if I were the Tigers.
  14. David Faber is all over it. I'm just providing a service. You think everybody watches CNBC? I surfed over there during a commercial on "Law and Order." The acquital of a cop killer leads to the murder of a defense attorney. Hey, I've seen this one, and I don't watch much L&O anymore. Free ad time for Fred! That's interesting because I remember when Reagan ran for President and they would not show any of his movies due to free publicity (Or some other reason) Basically, it was due to equal time requirements. If they showed his movies they would have been required to give the same amount of time to his opponent. Yeah, that was it....thanks NCCF!
  15. If UCLA wins they have the worst record in BCS history. They seem to play to their competition this year and it wouldn't surprise me to see them win. Imagine a UCLA vs Illinois Rose Bowl....you all vs Raisin.
  16. So now Wade is G-d? He is, at the least, an instrument thereof. Astro fans may consider him the tool of the devil. OK Mr. Hendry, now go out there and get us fans a banger who can help this team win.
  17. The best thing Wanstedt has done since getting there is recruit very well. He's about to the point, though, that those good recruits are going to have to perform. I'm surprised by the extension, I would think they'd wait until there were signs the recruits were going to perform. What it also does is tell the new recruits, hey...I'm going to be there for a while. I don't think Wanstedt is a very good coach but you're right his strength is recruiting and they have done really well. I like how my school did it. You have 1 more year to prove you stink and this scares the recruits away for another year. If you can recruit and evaluate you can win and Robinson can do neither, and is a below average coach without a good solid plan. I'm going to go cry in my pillow now.
  18. The only team he may be playing for is on Mike Vicks. There's no guarantee of that. Of course, there's no guarantee he won't be. But if you're looking for a power-hitting lefty, it's pretty hard not to include Bonds in the conversation. After all, the guy slugged .565 last year. I really don't think the circus he would bring with him would help the Cubs though along with him being a greedy guy and he would probably want 16 a year. Gotta fund that legal defense.... :) He won't get $16M per year. But what is his bat worth to the Cubs? I remember posters thinking that Bonds would sign on the cheap last year too and he signed for 16. He still had as productive a year as he did in 2006 so I doubt he'd take much less.
  19. Play by play...what a novel idea! I'm curious on he breaks that down.
  20. I agree that defensive metrics are very tough to judge but there has to be some kind of measuring system done by GM's or managers to determine defensive worth other than relying on scorekeepers and ESPN.
  21. If that. What is the plan in The STL? They look like they are ripe for a tear-down, particularly on the pitching staff. Do they simply prefer to try and luck into the playoffs via Pujols and (when healthy) Carpenter? It seems to me that the plan is for a rebuilding year. Develop some guys like Hoffpauir, Rasmus and Perez for late callups, avoid spending in a mediocre FA class, get a few long term pieces via trade and make a move in '09. I wouldn't be heartbroken if that was the plan, I just want to know for sure that there is a plan and these signings aren't from a GM who thinks these guys like Izturis and Piniero are actually good. I wonder how Pujols feels about a rebuilding year.

  23. Like a hitters slugging percentage, could there be a fielders defensive slugging percentage? Say the SS misses 3 grounders that turn into singles while the OF misses 1 ball that turns into a triple. Could that even it up? Did that make sense?
  24. The only team he may be playing for is on Mike Vicks.
