  1. It's a 3 point swing, Cotton. Terrible throw by Va Tech. Just a bunch of Big East flunkies. I do think it's funny, and I'm sure you're loving it, that the Big East is a better football conference than the ACC. Imagine if those 3 teams stayed? I don't mind losing the 2 non academic schools but losing BC really bugs me.
  2. Interesting turn over events. He did say he is the head coach and will be the head coach and he has no interest in talking to anyone else. It wasnt a flat out im not going to Michigan but its as close as close gets. All I know is we're left looking like Alabama or ND after this. I don't recall who was Bama spurned by? Just before Bama hired Saban, they had Rich Rodriguez all but signing on the dotted line before WVU stepped in and gave him a monster deal with promises for facility improvements. Bama was definitely left with egg on their face and it's likely why they felt the need to shell out $4 million for Saban. I forgot about that...so it's the last 2 times for them then.

Strippers and a certain coach.
  5. Yep, just change his A-C's.
  6. I'd hate to have a bunch of cash spent on Marquis, Prior and Clement. I'd rather bring a young guy up and put the money into a quality hitter. Now, if the Cubs trade Marquis and Prior, then yes, it might be a nice gamble. Yea, good point. I'm assuming Prior is gone though, and Hendry is entertaining offers for Marquis, so who knows. We certainly don't! It would be nice to get those 3 prospects for Prior, Trade Marquis and his salary for a B prospect and sign Clement if he can pitch. I figure that out to save the Cubs about 10-Clement and should be enough cash for a trade for Tejada or sign Fukedome.
  7. with Herbstreit? I don't know Derwood. I just heard Mush's voice in a commercial. I'm sure the Big 12 guys will listen to their school announcers instead.

  9. 10-7 you mean!
  10. I doubt Prior would want to sign with Colorado, so they won't give us anything of value. That's the only reason SD will give the Cubs prospects is because it is his hometown and they expect that he'll stay and sign another contract past 2008. I'd make the deal for either one of the last two prospects, but not the first one. I thought it was all 3? Poop.
  11. Neither team has even attempted to play a lick of defense in that game. It's fun to watch, but there really is no defense. Honestly it almost isn't fun to watch because of the defenses being so lame. Yeah, I love defensive struggles, but have no problem watching 100-plus points combined either. Variety is always a good thing. :D As do I but I don't know of many defensive struggle there have been in the NCAA's this year. That Colorado/Nebraska game was just plain goofy.
  12. Sabinistic. And we all know what Saban did after getting pissed off and insisting he was not going to Alabama - he went to Bama. Yep. It also shows me if he leaves how he can talk out of both sides of his mouth. No wonder why he's a good recruiter.
  13. I don't think that's the case at all. I think the Padres have more interest in him than others do and as the article said he might have an easier time negotiating with SD so that makes Prior more attractive to them.
  14. For such a crappy conference schools sure do want their coaches. For such a good conference, coaches sure seem to be in a hurry to leave it (Nah, it's vastly improved, and I'd vote West Virginia #1 if I had a vote. It's the also-rans after WV taking the huge leap forward that has really improved things. Having Cincy, USF, and Rutgers get respectable in a hurry has been huge.(I ain't buying UConn) I don't agree with Meph that you're the #2 conference, but you're definitely not the weak sister anymore either.) UConn is an enigma. I'm curious on how well they'll do in a bowl game. As for #2, we've done well in OOC games and have played some tough teams as well which is why it has been bumped up. USF which isn't ranked beat Central Flor 64-12 while Ranked Texas need a late TD to win. What conference is better and what is worse imo is very slight this year.

  16. For such a crappy conference schools sure do want their coaches. It's like hiring a really good coach who's proven himself at the AAA level. He's ready for the Major Leagues now. Ha...good one! Must suck when the minor league teams beat the major league ones!
  17. It looks as Hendry has learned though! Bleed em dry Jimmy!
  18. 31-23 Central Florida over Tulsa...at the half, wow.
  19. Are these guys any good? I'd love to have the Padres overpay to get a hometown guy in the fold. Contreras LeBlanc Huffman Thanks PP and O_O! Hah...Contreras is a righty and can't hit lefties...he'd fit right in!
  20. Link. I think this will help your boys tonight too knowing their coach is going to stay. In all honesty I kid around with your program but it's a heck of a program and it's really surprising that there has been that much turnover.
  21. Mushburger is doing the Mizzou/OU game....sorry guys.

  23. I'm all for patience, but how long has Pie been in the organization? It's like the Don Baylor Corey Patterson dance all over again. Other than the bunt thing, I don't see anything wrong with Lou stressing OBP to Pie. What's wrong with drag bunting once in a while? I suppose NY's issue is that the whole "long swing guy, needs to bunt more, etc" comments sound exactly like what screwed up Corey from 2002-2004. Pie's supposed to be a middle of the order hitter based on skillset, so from that point of view you probably don't want to be screwing around with his swing. I have more faith in Lou than I did in Dusty to not completely jerk Pie around, but I can see the paralells. I agree I don't want them to fool around too much and keep changing his swing but having a long swing is not really a good thing and by going to a quick compact swing may actually increase power and decrease the K's. I also agree that he shouldn't focus on drag bunting too much because it'll make him lose focus at times, his mental edge and get him behind in the count if he's making too many attempts and fouling them off or missing them. But, I do think it's a good thing if they can teach him to recognize the right pitch and do it right. I do have more faith in Lou as Bruce said his staff work very hard unlike Bakers who's staff did not.
