  1. You have a better chance of winning the Lottery every year than that happening. Besides, I rather see a split of conferences playing each other. I don't like the one whole conference against the other thing. We have enough of that in the bowls which should be teams of equal strength not these stupid bowl alliances thing. Really, if UCLA wins it'll be a UCLA vs OSU (if WV and Mizzou win)? Yuck. If things stayed the same rank wise it would be OSU vs Georgia which would be so much better.
  2. I still don't see how the SEC is leading though. Exactly who have they beaten OOC? VTech was a good win but what I think is ironic is that in Basketball Syracuse gets ripped for playing a lot of games at home but in football the SEC does it and gets a pass. LSU beat VT UGA killed OkSU Florida killed FSU Auburn over KSU An average SEC team (SC) pretty much tied 9-3 ACC Clemson You don't just look who they beat, you look at who they lost to as well. The SEC had one loss to a non BCS conference team (Alabama to Monroe). The Pac 10 had 4. The Big Ten had 5. The Big East had 3. The Big XII had 5. The ACC had 3ish.* You also look at how well they played (Score). And running up the score should matter some (obviously not completely). *going into this week. The non BCS teams the BE lost to were Louisville to Utah, Pitt to Navy and Syracuse to Miami (Oh), those are solid programs. Also, I don't know about the other BCS conferences but the BE plays a lot of home and homes which we both know the SEC did not do this year. Did I complain about the BE? With Dixon out the BE is probably the #2 conference. I happened to have USF in the top fifteen. They're unranked. No because you can't and USF deserves to be in the top 15 unlike the coaches that can't stop thinking about that 3 game losing streak and their love for name schools. You have been looking at the whole picture. I just wanted to mention who the BE lost too as well and the quality of the teams. I agree that Dixon being out killed Oregon and hurt the PAC 10 and as I said earlier, the differences between the conferences is very slight this year.
  3. I know they're are not going away but I don't want to cheapen the first place winner of a conference. It would be one thing if each team was 11-1 or even 12-0 as that could happen in the Champ Game Conferences. A 3-5 loss team winning that game while not playing all the teams is just wrong to me. Also, what it does is get another team from that conference to be able to go. Tenn wins and there is no doubt Georgia and maybe another SEC team will go. When Kansas St won the Big 12 with 3 or 4 losses that made it so the Big 12 got 2 teams in since it was OK's only loss.
  4. As I wrote to Colt...at least the Big East and PAC 10 all play each other. true, but if all 6 of the BCS conferences had a championship game, then that would at least give you one "playoff" game to qualify 6 of the entrants into the BCS games. I don't understand that logic though. It annoys me that Kansas and OK didn't play or Georgia and LSU. I just don't see a Champ game makes that better just because those conferences want the extra dollars and have a Champ game. It's even worse in the Big 10 when this happens, especially how Wisconsin and OSU didn't play each other and I don't understand why the Big 10 didn't add a conference game when they went with 12, same for the SEC.
  5. It must be a North Carolina/S vs Nova thing. I remember a gift that the Heels got in an NCAA playoff game too.
  6. As I wrote to Colt...at least the Big East and PAC 10 all play each other.
  7. But....Georgia didn't play LSU and Kansas didn't play Oklahoma or Texas. If you want to have 12 teams and not have them all play against each other this is what you get. Getting a Split of a split and being considered for the BCS game is wrong imo.
  8. That's why this lose late thing is dumb as heck. Just say Mizzou and WV loss. They each have 2 losses, why are they dismissed out of hand? Granted, Mizzou if they lost their Conference they shouldn't go but I'm quite sure Georgia would get consideration and the morans have done this before regarding Nebraska a few years ago.
  9. USC is a no brainer if they don't win the PAC 10 out of that group imo. They have the big name that Bowls like. Also, if Tenn beats LSU I wonder if they would grab the 4th spot? I'd be surprised if Kansas doesn't go but if Mizzou losses to OK that might bump Kansas out as you wrote. Also, half of the Big East teams had 9 wins, which no other conference did, I don't see why they could get 2 in.
  10. Could you post a link please? I think he means Bruce's 11/20/07 article. the link is on page 16 of this thread. Thanks SCCF! What worries me is if Hendry doesn't get Matsui. He seems to be fixated on a subject and goes after it and I can see him getting an even worse player that hits left handed to play second.

Cuse, Auburn opens with West Virginia at WV in '08. Yes, they played their two BCS out of conference games at home this year, but that isn't the case every year. They went to Southern Cal for a season opener a few years ago. You are trying to state that the only way SEC teams will play BCS out of conference games is on their home field and that's inaccurate. I have no problem with that. We are talking about this year and why the SEC is crowned the king. Again, imo...no conference stood out is my argument not that the SEC sucks.

  13. what part of hill's numbers don't look dominant? and he may be older than crawford, but he's got a lot less service time, so he's considerably cheaper. How long will Hill be considerably cheaper? How much money is he going to get in arbitration for the 2009 and 2010 season? The 2008 season Hill will make about 5 million less, but I question how much less he will make once he hits arbitration before the 09 season. Yeah but he'll be 38 years old by then.
  14. If you get technical you could say that UCLA didn't have a QB too. I see where you are going with this but imo the Big 10 puts too much emphasis on ND. They have to play some other BCS teams too because if ND stinks, it kills them.

  16. Best Big 10 OOC win is a take-your-pick among Washington, WSU, Pitt, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Ball State, Miami (OH) or a 6-point loss to Missouri. That is ugly. This hurts Ohio State a lot imo.
  17. That's the direction I'd rather go too. I'm curious on which player would command a bigger salary, Cabrera or Santana because as a 1 or 2 year thing isn't good enough, I want a 4 or 5 year deal if the Cubs commit a lot of good young talent in acquiring them.
  18. Is Rogers usually right because I thought he wasn't?
  19. There is no doubt in my mind that no conference stood out this year. The SEC has beaten how many BCS teams out of conference? Kentucky beat a 5-5 Louisville and Florida beat a 6-5 Florida St and again, all at home. How many were away games? I really fail to see anyone that is better than the next. Cal rips Division winner Tennessee and is horrible in the PAC 10. Oregon St gets beat by Cincy 34-3 and does well in the PAC 10. The ACC more than holds it's own against the SEC and Big East. Mizzou beats Illinois other than that the Big 12 has no wins over any other over 500 BCS team. I'm having a hard time finding any wins out of conference over a good team for the Big 10, maybe I missed one.
  20. If Dixon being hurt and Oregon stinking up the joint doesn't prove how good he was, nothing will.
  21. So that means Wood will be a Cub.
  22. Wise guy! What do you guys know of Locksley? Where is he from? I believe Locksley has ties to the DC area as he is one of the Illinis main recruiters for that area. He was very instrumental in getting Benn, and Vontae Davis to commit to the Illini, and at least 1 or 2 more in next years class. Not sure how he would do as a head coach, but hes definatly a good recruiter. I would hate for the Illini to lose him, but I think we would be fine. Here is his bio http://fightingillini.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/locksley_mike00.html I'd like to have a guy that has some solid ties around the east and it looks as if he would. Thanks for the info! I wonder if he's related to Jersey because Locksley's wife might be his sister in law.

  24. Why would Kelley take a step down and coach Michigan or Notre Dame? How has that Syracuse football team been lately Cuse? By the way, I'd be furious if Michigan hired Ferentz, but it really wouldn't surprise me one bit. Hopefully bad enough to get a coach that isn't overwhelmed and confused. I've heard rumblings that Cuse may be looking at Illinois O-coordinator Locksley for HC. Have you heard anything about that? No I haven't and that's a new one to me. Very interesting, thanks.
