  1. I heard he was a heck of a lawyer.
  2. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Also....Jones was never an all-star, believe it or not folks. I love how people just feel so willing to hand out labels like "he was an All-Star for a while." Shameless disregard for facts has never gotten in the way of baseball discussion. Was he a GG winner cuz that means he has a great glove.
  3. How old is Pie...22? He's still a baby if that's true. I just hope that the mental part of the game doesn't overwhelm him if he continues to struggle.
  4. He had four stops last year: HS team, Mesa Cubs, Boise Cubs, and AFL instrux games. He hit .390 in HS; anytime a guy doesn't hit .400 or better in HS, I don't think he's hitting really well. He hit 0.067 in 7 games at Mesa; in 7 games at Boise he hit .190. I don't have stats for what he did in instrux, but based on games that Arizona Phil reported on, Vitters again had relatively few hits. Each are small samples, the last one lacks actual statistical record, there are excuses for each (was sick during spring, was rusty when the Cubs signed him), and he was 17 till late August. So I wouldn't worry too much about a mediocre 100 bats in HS and then 50 crummy pro AB's. If he's hitting next season, the scattered 2007 numbers will be totally forgotten and dismissed as nonrepresentative. meph and the scouts say there's not much question but that he'll hit. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'm not a big fan of batting average in HS as I've seen some funky scoring, shots that were outs, tries to hit long shots instead of doing what he's suppose to be doing, trying something new, along with a kid feeling a bit of pressure during his senior year and tons more like things in their personal life. Thanks for the breakdown craig.
  5. Maybe Tim bought them?
  6. Hendry is in the lab-or-it-tory as we speak creating the next monster.
  7. Maybe he rethought that Soriano contract and bolted before the torches were lit. To have the choice of being President of either team would be a dream come true for many people.
  8. I ain't never been to Kansas so I have to root for the Tigers of Missouri. Wait, Frankie Baum of the Wizard of Oz was born in Chittenango where I went to school so now I don't know what to do again!
  9. Then one of the Turners (Bear OC or SD Head coach) will take over at Michigan?
  10. The fact that Fukudome has a great arm should stop that comparison right away.
  11. What a bunch of idiots. Just allow three teams from one conference if there aren't enough eligible teams in the top-14 if you stick by the two per conference rule. These are supposed to be the best teams going not the top 2 from every conference. So you are assuming the rankings are correct?
  12. Last warning about the personal attacks and if I see another one you're gone.
  13. But other than that he's perfect! I've got no feeling on Vitters, and really I've barely begun to draw an opinion on most of these guys. Can't believe how little I pay attention to the prospects now. There seems to be a significant amount of good, but not great bats, who may have trouble sticking at the positions that would make them really valuable. And a good chunk of the top pitching prospects sound like relievers. I think you're list really points out that the Cubs have a lot of depth, for useful parts, but seriously lack the true blue chip prospects. I like being able to call-up guys from the minors to fill holes, but this just shows how important it's going to be for management to go out and get stars from other teams, which is extremely expensive. I don't get what Craig wrote when he said Vitters hasn't hit at any level he has been at but yet he's #1? I suppose I'd like to know what hasn't hit means.
  14. It's the only park that in the ground rules it's a double if they lose the ball in the infield grass.
  15. So nice of you to say that. The ad hominem attacks continue on this board without challenge. I agree...let's try to talk smack or whatever and not about each other like this. Thank you.
  16. Baseball made a lot of money in 2007....get ready for some outrageous money to be thrown around on some pretty average players.
  17. I'm confused...I thought Hendry has already signed Matsui, Castillo and a slew of other second basemen? Yes, I'm laying it on quite thick.
  18. Yes, my team is traditionally bad at football, therefore I know nothing about football. It must be nice to cherry-pick your favorite team from a short-list of perennial contenders instead of, I dunno, having actual ties to your team. What a luxury. Well darn it, my basketball analogy is that they might score more in this game than in some of the basketball games. This ought to be a fun game to watch. Enjoy it boys! My trash talk....I do wish both teams played Texas during the regular season though.
  19. I see the coaches poll loves the BE. A whole 2 teams in the Top 25. Yeah, I love it when these clowns are the ones deciding things. How S.Florida is 30th and behind Auburn by 5 spots doesn't mean they actually go by facts and silly things like what actually happens on the field. The second rated conference in college football according to the computers and 2 teams and a lot of you wonder why I get pissed.
  20. Ha...maybe! I think one writes that Hendry is looking for a second baseman and then the rest come up with their guesses while not even looking to see if the Cubs even need one.
  21. I can't believe you guys are buying all these rumors as fact. Every year guys like this are so incredibly wrong but yet everyone believes them and gets upset at Hendry.
  22. Cool...thanks! Piggy is left handed too, correct? I could see him replacing Ohman on the big roster.
  23. Interesting, thanks Raisin. Patterson and Piggy really had a nice time over there by the looks of it. Is Pignatiello still with the team? Hendry has traded so many minor league guys I'm not sure I remember who's still in their organization!
  24. Hey Raisin, how does that compare to last years players? Didn't Cedeno hit really well in that league last year? Cedeno sucked last year. I think he was great the year before, though. Might have been. Did anyone stand out last year that didn't do diddly in 2007?
  25. According to the article on MLB.com, Sheffield had been represented by Boras before negotiating his contract with the Yankees by himself four years ago. Wasn't that the deal Sheffield whined about after he himself negotiated the deal? Not that Mr. Clear would ever whine. That would be the one. Didn't Sheffield's eventual whining also lead him out of the Bronx in the Detroit trade? As a longtime Tiger fan, I like his production in the lineup, but can't stand his antics off the field. Another sign that 'roid rage turns good baseball players into jerks! Yeah, Sheff is a fun guy like that. One of the Quickest bats in baseball, I wonder how much the juice helped him or how long he even stayed on it.
