  1. I don't really care about HOF type things, but man, the NHL really blew it with this. There were some big names going in, and I didn't hear a thing about it until after it happened. The NHL has a HOF?
  2. Greene disappears at times and drifts and that bugs me but I think Boeheim will get him going. It was a good win over a tough team and I'm pretty happy about it. These young guys are going to have their ups and downs but they are going to be quite entertaining. I just wish Boeheim would play other players more to rest some of these guys, that's always been my biggest beef with him.
  3. If you have the money spend it. Heck, people pay 30K a year for a dog nanny.
  4. If Gagne can hit .290/.375/.450 and play SS, I'd be all over that. Greg Gagne?
  5. Hendry could have been thinking out loud and it was just a thought depending on how the team shaped up in the spring.
  6. 2 words: Nick Punto. That's just piling on SSR. This board would be so much fun if this were true!
  7. I think that's the way Hendry is going to go. That's a lot of money spent this offseason. I'm going to have to disagree. Yes it is and I think he'll shed some salary like Monroe, Erye and Ohman to make it work. I know they don't cost a ton but throw in letting Prior go and have some extra cash that will help along with the supposed increase in budget.
  8. I think that's the way Hendry is going to go.
  9. He'll always have the "I was traded even up for Greg Maddux" though.
  10. anything the basketball team does will be fun after the ass-pounding the football team has taken all year. This coming from a Penn State basketball fan? Talk about butt pounding year after year. hey i'm a holy cross fan  I know...I was just busting you a bit. How's Ralph looking this year?
  11. Agreed. I wonder if Lou has any input on this? Ain't no way I'm giving you a quarter if Monroe is dealt. I don't consider that "something bigger". Then you can cut my lawn instead. I think Hendry will get a Crawford and/or someone more impact.
  12. I suppose, if you want it to be. Again, thanks for the info.
  13. Furcal? Hendry wanted him or Pierre and wound up with one. Last season he said he would get Soriano and he did. If he wants Fukudome just as bad, I can only hope he would be able to get it done. I would guess. And this is just me guessing here. That since Hendry got rid of Jones, he either already has a handshake (or bow), or is extremely confident he has Fukudome pretty much signed at this point (per talks with him I suppose). I don't think its necessarily that close. I think Fukudome is his first option and there have been talks, but I think Hendry sees the market for the type of OF's he is looking for and between Fukudome, Guillen, Cameron, etc he is confident in getting one of them. I'm sorry if this has been asked before but is Fukudome a CF? I just don't see the love for him as a corner OF. If he is I'd package Pie, Murton and a slew of young pitchers for Cabrera and plug Theriot and Infante at SS. For the three hundred and thirtieth time, yes he can be more than passable in center, although he played right this year for Chunichi. I appreciate you being a prick about it, thanks for the info.
  14. Agreed. I wonder if Lou has any input on this?
  15. So is he going to the Minny Rays or the Tampa Bay Twins?
  16. I'm sure in a couple of days we'll read the Cubs also "threw in" Veal too.

  18. i guess i don't see how having him work on learning a new position would help him relax as a hitter. What I'm saying is that he may be more comfortable in the OF. I'm not saying he will be and I've seen players relax and be more productive when they don't have the pressure of being a middle infielder any more.
  19. Syracuse has some impact Freshmen and this is the best group I've seen here since 86/87. Jonny Flynn steps up and goes for 28 and is 6-7 from outside the arc against in a 97-89 win over Siena. This team can beat anyone and lose to anyone but if they improve on D and decrease their turnovers this may be the best team we have had since 2003...actually it is the best team we've had since then. Nice depth and if Rautins didn't blow out his knee Boeheim planned this team perfectly making them 3 deep at every position. Plus, they are fun as heck to watch. I'm excited about this team and the beauty part is that they only have 1 Junior 2 Sophs and 2 Freshmen starting. Tough game against St. Joes on ESPN at 7 tonight.
  20. How bad is Ward out there...in right say? Maybe move Ward/Murton to left and Soriano to right, wold the combo of Ward/Murton give the Cubs a productive left or right field?
  21. If this would relax him as a hitter and he could hit 300/350 and play CF I'd be all for it. I just see him as a weak hitting 250/290 guy that might be able to play a decent OF. I also think it may depend on who the Cubs have in the OF. I don't see them taking Pie or Soriano out for defensive purposes. I think this might add some value to Cedeno and if it stops Hendry from spending a goofy amount of cash for an equal thing to Cedeno I'd be fine with it.
  22. AP is going to be out for a while. http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/10468878 I'm bummed. I hope he bounces back and only comes back when he is healthy. I'll take a high pick for next year and let him fix this thing. If the Vikes trade for McNabb it would be like an NFL football dream come true for me.
  23. I asked them to do that to make you guys feel good.
  24. Agreed. Crawford would add a lot to this team offensively and defensively, but for Rich Hill and what may be the top offensive prospect (albeit in a weak system) I would like someone that is an .850 OPS guy with a little more power than CC can provide. I'd see if they would accept Marshall and a couple of better prospects, though. Does this then push Soriano to right then? I like Crawford but as a CF other than that I don't see his value as that high.
  25. see, this was my thought also. BUT. why did Hendry feel the need to trade Jones for a ML player? a prospect would have been fine. looks like a 25 man roster move to complete the trade was required. i agree i would outright Infante, but Hendry is not that smart. imho this is payback for Neif! Dombrowski wins this one. this 'savings' basically amounts to a Wood deal in a 'tight' year. sign Wood and bring on Fukudome, Jimmy... The tigers probably didn't want to trade prospects for him. Or at least any prospects that had a chance of making the bigs. Plus if the Tigers sent a minor league guy or 2 they would probably ask the Cubs to pay more than the 1 Million bonus.
