  1. I have to believe that Prior is a big boy and is responsible for his own body. Now, if the Cubs said..."No, you can't get an MRI or see a Dr. about your shoulder" you may have a point but I doubt that is the case. From what I've read about Prior he seems to be pretty conscience about his body and I can't see him just accepting this type of injury.
  2. two words: Open Bar You beat me because I had to wipe my fingers on the most towelette that you supplied to wipe the butter off my fingers from all the lobster. Tim, could you please pass the shrimp when you get a chance? Whoops, wrong thread.
  3. I suppose Dempster at 6 and around the same numbers as Marquise would be a better way to go and it saves you 4 if you do get rid of Marquis but I see the Cubs paying salary relief if they do deal Marquis so I may not really improve anything. It might be easier to name Dempster a starter/closer and then deal him depending on what type of role closer/starter the team he is going to wants him to be.
  4. And then there is a show on NBC called "The GM". Trump will take the best and brightest and make him or her the new Cubs GM.
  5. Williams does have 8 letters in it. I don't think this is it at all. I heard they are suppose to announce the names (McCarthyism galores) after the Winter Meetings. This way George Mitchell can tell the Sox who to sign and the other teams get stuck with the 25 to 50 game suspension guys. I don't believe guys named in the Mitchell report will be subject to suspensions. It's basically about steroid use prior to the new rules, correct? Probably, but teams will sign the artificial strength guys while Boston may not.
  6. So you're saying they are going to build a baseball field on top of the tower....pure genius! http://www.designverb.com/wp-content/images/2006/09/highesttennis07.jpg Hey, it worked for the Burj Al Arab in Dubai with a tennis court. Wow, Back...back, back and the ball....and the Outfielder are gone!
  7. We had our first 10 loss season ever 2 years ago, it sucks. Has its first losing season in football in 37 years this year. | | | v Sorry to hear that. We had a winning seasons from 1986 to 2004 or so.
  8. Problem is, this wasn't a slam dunk surgery. It was exploratory. Who knows if it will be successful or not. It started out as exploratory, they found a bunch wrong (what a surprise), and from all reports, were able to fix everything up nicely. Can't a player go get tests done on his own to check the shoulder or does it have to be ok with the team to do so?

  10. I think this is a difficult situation. If Prior doesn't want to accept the 20% pay cut of (does anyone know what his salary is?) he can refuse. Isn't that a lot of money to spend on a guy that won't pitch for 2008? I'm guessing 3.75 or so. Huh? Isn't it possible that he won't pitch in 2008? I think it's quite possible.

Isn't that a lot of money to spend on a guy that won't pitch for 2008? I'm guessing 3.75 or so. Actually, he can't "refuse", but he can go to an arbitration hearing. You're right. That could get nasty but I'm sure they would have made a move before that. Could the Cubs just flat out release him too?
  12. If he stays away from the TD flips he should be ok. Imagine if the Vikings actually had a QB?

  15. And if Bradley gets accused of cussing he could just say he was talking to his teammate. I've always liked Bradley too. He has passion and is a very talented player.
  16. I was hoping he was going to be the second baseman of the future. (Yes, I know he was at third)
  17. He may make George look like Sister Theresa. Now that's entertainment.
  18. I'm curious on how much Wood would want and I thought he wanted to be a starter? I suppose if he's getting paid closer money that might help. How much money do the Cubs have to offer Prior to keep him for another year? I hated the Miller signing because it was 1 Million+ and a roster spot down the toilet and I can definitely see why Hendry would want an extra year. IMO, Prior is going to try to get as much cash and as fast as he can once he's able too. I don't blame him for that and I don't blame Hendry for not spending/wasting money on him. Heck, If Prior is hurt all year which is probable, Hendry can't even trade him to at least get something for him and I doubt he's even a Type B Free Agent if he did go next year.
  19. Let's not get carried away, now. 8-) So I take it you're not out picking out silverware with Mr. Hendry?
  20. Wow...I thought this would have been a lot closer. I voted for ARod due to his ability, position and the fact he takes care of himself. Santana worries me due to the simple fact he's a pitcher and due to miss some time imo, and Miggy may Kruk himself. All wonderful players though and I'd be thrilled if the Cubs had any of the 3.
  21. We had our first 10 loss season ever 2 years ago, it sucks.
  22. I think Hendry will strike quickly as he has every year, if he's going to go after free agents at all so maybe he'll bump the Angels price up a bit and get them out of contention for anything else the Cubs need.
  23. $2500 dollar bonus for the guy from Taiwan? What is that, a 3 piece meal at KFC there?
  24. MOM.....MEATLOAF!
