  1. Completely agree. ARod knows he's going to get paid somewhere. It may be a few mil less per year than he would make in NY but he's still going to have one of the highest salaries in the league. I just don't think it was worth it to him to stay in NY because of all the crap he took from the fans and the media. I wonder if Boras would throw in a clause making sure ARod gets paid 5% or more than the second highest salary in baseball.
  2. How old is that Anderson that plays QB for the Browns? I thought he was pretty young so I was wondering what they would do with Quinn if this guy continues to scorch defenses.
  3. No. They're saying that fans were flipping out because the Cavs getting Bibby in that deal would make them scary. It was being talked about on the show yesterday. Bibby 3 years ago, maybe. How is it that so many fans get hung up on a "name"? Then sneak Henry into the trade and run like heck.
  4. Don't worry. They'll be back just before the playoffs and you'll finish in 8th and knock out my Wings in 7 in the first round.
  5. Is the Score as accurate about basketball as they are baseball?
  6. Or something really catchy like "Baseball Discussions" How about Bob's Greatest Hits? It works for you and that hard hitting safety of yours.
  7. Time for you to stop liking some of these guys because, hey wait, you're real name isn't Andy is it?
  8. It's not as though the Mavericks aren't also refusing to give in. Cuban came out and made a much more definitive statement of the Mavericks non-interest than Paxson did. Did he say anything about ARod and the Cubs? :D
  9. Maybe, but I wouldn't hold out much hope, especially since he has multiple superior options keeping him from that role in our system, in Pie and Patterson. He kind of reminds me of a better defensive version of Theriot only a CF obviously. The 2 you mentioned are either going to crash and burn or be really good imo. I just don't see a middle of the road for them for some reason like I do Fuld.
  10. Time to strike the Pie for Bedard and Tejada deal while the iron is hot!
  11. I'm not sure what Rautins's dad was thinking putting him in against Leandro Barbosa in the FIBA Americas tournament. You have an experienced NBA player going up against a college sophomore....nothing good was going to come of that. It would have been good experience for him and Jim B had nothing bad to say about it. I wish he didn't get hurt but it happens.
  12. I don't deny that Gammons is a Red Sox guy but I still think he might have a problem with this. Did anything like this happen in the past and he let it slide?
  13. Syracuse Orange: Young and fun. We lost Rautins due to a knee injury but the team will still be good and if the Freshman step up, which I think they will....this will be a good year. Eric Devendorf and Paul Harris return with Freshman Donte Green and Johnny Flynn having to grow and get better as the season progresses. Onuaku will man the center spot and he might be a very good role/center type guy for this team. I hope that JC Transfer Ongenaet can help at the 4 or 5 or Jackson who is a 6'9" Freshman. Jardine out of Philly, if he can hit the J's that Rautins made, this team could be a team no one will want to play in the NCAA's, that is if we get invited. Harris will probably play the 3, undersized at 6-5 but he's a tough kid and can rebound very well for his size. Josh Wright is returning and the only senior and I don't expect a lot out of him but he adds a different dimension to this team and if the other players are hitting the J, he is a serviceable 1. Green will be the 4 and maybe even slide into 5 depending on the situation. The kids 6'11" and is very athletic. I hope they can keep him on the wing. I'm pretty excited to see how these guys will work together. Boeheim is pretty good when it comes to mixing and matching kids. We're predicted to be middle of the pack in a tough BE this year.
  14. They may be and I'd like to see them fall behind 14 or so and see how they react. This ought to be a fun game to watch.
  15. I think if he is going to do this I'd do it early. It took too long for Melo and AI to get it together and I think it would take some time for the Bulls and Kobe to mesh too. Sure, and if we can get Kobe for what the Nuggets gave up for AI, I'd do it too. There's a difference between being "gunshy" and being unwilling to get raped. The Nuggets didn't have to give up their other top player, that was the whole reason that deal even happened. That wasn't my point Soul. I was talking about having the players mesh together, not about how the deal itself is structured. OK. Well -- if we trade Gordon, Deng, TT, and Hinrich for Kobe, then we can all look forward to Kobe meshing together with the likes of Gray, Sefolosha, and Chris Duhon. Might need quite a bit of time for that chemistry to kick in, LOL. BALCO can help you with the chemistry part. Just call 1-800-BARROID.
  16. I think the fact that Gammons had health issues and the pitcher that won the 4th game came back from cancer had something to do with that. When you have a serious health setback, it changes you emotionally as well as physically.

  18. If money were not a problem, which one player would you rather have on the Cubs: ARod Santana Cabrera

  20. Who's "Koby"? I guess he could - he hasn't used up his college eligibility. (double ) Whoops....Koby Bryent? He always wanted to play for Coach K so I thought it would be a perfect place. I think he meant the spelling. Kobe Bryant Thanks dav, I saw that and that's why I spelled the last name wrong too!
  21. Don't worry, there's a Virginia guy on there and at the exact spot the Cubs will likely be drafting (#19). Nobody from Creighton either? That makes your Virginia guy as the #1 Cub target.
  22. Could Fuld ever be able to be a starting CF? I'd love to see Gallagher battle for the 5 spot. The more guys that can pitch the better.
  23. Mets for those of you who weren't -14 in 1969. Sadly, the realignment has all but killed that once incredibly heated rivalry. It was close to Cubs/Cards levels at one time. aye, I hated the Mets much more than the Cards growing up Me too. Still do. Probably always will. Me too and it wasn't even close to any other team. Not being from Chicago I never realized there was a rivalry between the Cubs/Cards and never understood the Brock trade thing until I found out how these two groups of fans felt.

  25. I thought the purpose of that particular sub-forum was to let things get a little more heated than we normally would in the rest of the site.
