  1. If you wanted to see the players you should have had seats by the Purdue defensive goal line!
  2. Kansas State is no pushover, but they don't have more talent or depth than Auburn nor should they have "beaten Auburn on the road". Kansas State played Auburn when Brandox Cox was more likely to throw a ball into his opponents' arms rather than his receivers'. Also, that was the first college game for 60% of Auburn's starting offensive line. Auburn still won by 10 points. As an aside, South Florida isn't as strong as some think either. If they run the table with the remainder of their Big East schedule, I guarantee you they will lose their bowl game. Auburn turned the ball over 5 times against South Florida and lost in overtime. Auburn is not a contender this year, but they fielded a more talented team than South Florida. As did WV and White got hurt when they lost at SFlor, or does that rule just apply to Auburn? Many good teams are going to win and lose due to turnovers and this season is proving you have to bring it every game no matter who you are.
  3. Upton's lucky he did break his own ankle on that late horrible slide and yes, it was interference. I'm not even sure they have fans. imo they have a bunch of people that go to the games and have to be told when to cheer. Too many out of town people that moved there due to the job and not enough home grown fans.
  4. That man knows hockey and how to win. If the Hawks got him I would be worried that they are going in the right direction.
  5. I don't think it would be as much as a disaster as some of you are making it out to be. For one, Steve Stone criticizes alot of the big contracts Hendry gives out. Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know 4 players = $80 of a years salary = bad. But it would be an improvement over Hendry. He has no experience, he's never been in any front office capacity. I remember being thrilled that Hendry got the GM job. He had some nice minor league experience and I really thought he would build this team the correct way. I still want somebody with Mr. Hendrys credentials and if there is a change at the top that's the direction I hope they go. I wouldn't be surprised to see the dude from Toronto slide into the slot. I just for once want someone who will take into account the complete picture, not just "old school" and not just all-out sabermetrics. I wouldn't mind Stone being one voice, but I'd want an equal if not more weight given to fresh, new ideas. What a wonderful world it would be.
  6. And Dunn would soon be gone. It's all about hits.
  7. It would be like turning money into cents.

  9. I think if the Cubs are going to keep Pie in CF they have improve at RF and or SS big time. If Not, maybe they should look into dealing him and Marshall for some of the above mentioned. I want somebody that can take some pitches and be a productive hitter, an impact hitter.
  10. Are these two guys drinking buddies?
  11. And luckily this guy is often wrong. I do hope they pick up Wards though.
  12. Let the dismantling of the Cub juggernaut begin! It's been too long since they have had the first pick in the draft.
  13. What, from clear to cream? I couldn't resist! I wonder if he'll go back to House or do you think he'll go elsewhere and work this out?
  14. Good call. But, you could knock some sense into him. I have just the baseball bat I can loan you. :D Does it hit? Because if it does you should have let the Cubs have it first!
  15. Thanks Bruce. What do you see the Cubs doing from here?
  16. True but in most cases it's to get some extra money to waive it and/or to keep from being sent to KC or Tampa. I don't see anyone turning down a trade to the Yanks.
  17. How do you figure? Other pitchers have had similar surgeries to Prior and came back to regain form. I forgot the prime example...wasn't it Chris Carpenter? I'm not saying to expect ANYTHING from Prior. He could easily never regain form. But to completely dismiss him as a middle reliever I think is a bad idea. That's your opinion I wrote mine. I'm well aware of other pitchers that have had this scope and it's worked but I'm pretty sure some others haven't come back as well. It's nice to look at the success stories and hope for the best.
  18. Prior will be a middle reliever from here on, if that.
  19. Maybe Hendry will go after Posada I hope he doesn't do that either but you're right, that's possible. I hope Lou hearts Soto.
  20. If the Cubs hypothetically traded Lee, Marmol, Marshall and Pie for ARod, we would be better than we are right now. It all depends on the team. LAD could afford to deal (stupidly) Kemp, Loney, and whichever other prospects Plaschke and Colletti hate today and they'd be very competitive for the next 3-4 years. If the Cubs had Ward at first or someone else? Looking at your deal, that is a move for a win today, no doubt. imo, the Yanks would want Ramirez and it may be possible that the two guys that were "assumed" scapegoats be traded for each other. Would it help the Cubs to get Hughes or Cano for Ramirez and then just sign ARod?
  21. And Humans towards Texas and Hawaii.
  22. He lost it at a HS football game. but was it a real football game? Real and spectacular.
  23. Unless Lou talks him out of it, watch Hendry trade for Pudge now that the Tigers have picked up his 13 for 2008.
  24. He lost it at a HS football game.
  25. Trading ARod for ARam doesn't improve the team all that much. It could. But not as much as they need to be truly great. I'd rather them try and be great. If you're looking at trading pieces and players, I'd deal them Lee, Marmol and others for ARod. But NY won't trade him. They'll let him walk away in a manner that you described. How can the Yanks trade ARod if he can just walk out of his contract? It's all about the money Texas owes. If ARod is in discussions with another team, he can get what they will offer + the money Texas owes, if he doesn't opt out. The only way to do that is to get the Yankees to trade him. The Yankees would most likely oblige, considering they'd get a lot more than the draft pick they would otherwise get for losing him. Why would ARod do that though? It would make the team he is dealt to even worse.
