  1. The DBacks made some nice plays on D too. I thought he pitched well, yes he had some hittable balls and the Cubs hit some hard right at somebody but Webb had some filthy sinkers too.
  2. He had some hittable pitches but I thought he did a very nice job. It's amazing how good a pitcher looks when the hitters swing at garbage and take meatballs right down the middle of the plate. If yesterday is any indication today we're going to be kissing Doug Davis's ass talking about what a masterful pitcher he is. Big difference between Davis and Webb.
  3. No, we lost last night because our hitters couldn't hit Webb....no big surprise from me. I was hoping that somehow we could pull it out, but in my heart I knew the Cubs would look like little girls at the plate....and little girls they did look like. Hopefully, tonight we'll look like men. Actually had a lot of good swings against him. None fell in. I thought the approach was ok, other than the inning of the Zambrano double. Also, did anyone think after Theriot reached 2B on the error, that the Cubs should have bunt w/ Zambrano? Granted he had the hardest hit ball to that point and hit it hard again, but if he puts a bunt down, Soriano's line drive to CF, probably scores Theriot. Yes and no. How's that for a two sided answer! If i'm the Backs....I'm thinking Z's bunting. Most of the time the ball will be a fastball and since Z is a good hitter he swung and hit it hard. Now, if Webb threw a sinker or something else for a strike or ball, I would bunt Z on the second pitch. I agree that a bunt with 2 pitchers like this would put the Cubs in position to tie the game but imo it was a pitch by pitch thing.
  4. He had some hittable pitches but I thought he did a very nice job.
  5. Lou gambled and lost. He had a plan and my question is who was going to be the 3rd reliever since he took Z out in the 6th and not 7th. I have to believe that he also thought, I'm going to put Marmol into the game with no one on instead of seeing if Z could go the 7th, get into trouble and then Marmol would have guys on. I see his logic and it didn't work last night. i like the fact that he defended the pen, maybe he was defending himself too but, I think the pen will step up for him from here on. Now to take advantage of the pitchers not named Webb.
  6. Marmol looked tight. I don't know if he was nervous or just not warmed up enough.
  7. 5 Sori AB's...I didn't see any good swings from Soriano. I hope he picks it up because if he goes 0-5 like that again it'll hurt tonight. He wasn't alone as Ramirez wasn't all that and Webb is a very good pitcher but it's big boy time and somebody has to step up.
  8. Wow. Simply wow. You had to keep a running total because if not that's pretty impressive. The Cubs had their chances and hit some balls hard, right at the DBacks. The only thing that really worries me is if the Cubs come out tight tomorrow. if they relax, hit the ball where it;s pitched tomorrow, they'll be fine. if they are tight and try to pull every pitch, we may have a problem.
  9. Tomorrow will be a nice time to jump on the DBacks and make them think about the pressure of the playoffs. I hope the Cubs can do it because today it looked as if the DBacks were the most relaxed team.
  10. valverde is the most hittable pitcher we'll face tonight. he was clutch for the Yanks back in the day.
  11. lay off of them, they're just doing what the scoreboard tells them to do. fans that need electric scoreboards at all are lame as hell. You are correct.
  12. I'll take this over watching other teams play instead any time and day.
  13. Thanks for the positive stats, Fred. yeah, but what about 2 solo shots?
  14. The Cubs are going to hit a 2 run shot soon, you'll love it, you'll see.
  15. He grew up in fricking Venezuela!! How much could heat really bother him?? Dusty, is that you?
  16. How did you live through 2003? i was a lot more laid back in those days I thought he said he got laid more back in those days.
  17. TBS has TV shows? Remeber when all their stuff started at 5 minutes past the hour.....Old school. This game started at 10:05 right?
  18. Actually we usually beat these guys and lose to junk ballers like Doug Davis. This guy is a very good pitcher and the Cubs have to step up and out think and execute Webb.
  19. OK, TBS needs a second show to air because this is driving me nutszo!
