  1. What a great start in GB. Awesome.
  2. The thing is, every pitcher in baseball has those games. No pitcher is on top of his game every single time out, and over the course of a season they will probably have more than just one of those types of outings. At worst Rich Hill is a number 2 pitcher, and Lilly is a good number 3. Our problem in the rotation lies in the backend with guys like Marquis and Dempster. Although if the Cubs were smart, Marshall and Gallagher would be in there instead, or at the very least 1of them would be. Rich Hill takes alot of abuse from Cub fans, and I dont know why(not pointing at you Ryno). The guy was in his first full season, and was a top 30 pitcher, really what more could you ask out of him? There is no reason to think Hill wont improve this season, and by seasons end, this discussion will look foolish as I think Hill pushes Z this year as best starter on this team. I think nobody would have a problem with getting another great starter, but they dont grow on trees, and they dont come cheap.
  3. How can you say its a real thing, when his stats over a full season show something completely different. Does he show his emotions sometimes, yes. But he handled pressure situations just fine, as I proved in my previous post.
  4. Well Rich Hill isnt this teams number 1 starter. Good luck finding more and better pitchers, who are making what Rich Hill is, and are available. Rich Hill was one of the top 30 pitchers last year in all of MLB.
  5. Why dont you prove Hill cant handle pressure situations, and is mentally weak? Rich Hill Runners on 1st and 3rd-hitters had a .449 OPS A pressure situation Runners in scoring position hitters had a .680 OPS A pressure situation Close and late situation hitters had a .438 OPS A pressure situation Runner on 3rd base hitters had a .443 OPS A pressure situation Innings 7-9 hitters had a .536 OPS A pressure sitation So show me your proof
  6. Nothing like making comments about a pitchers mental state, which you have no idea what it is. Hill was in his first full season in the majors, and was a top 30 pitcher in the entire ML's. If you dont think thats good then I dont know what to tell you.
  7. How do you know what Sorianos mentallity is? You called Soriano selfish for no reason at all. He posted a near 900 OPS, Soriano was not a problem.
  8. You can't expect to keep your credibility after saying something like that. That whole post might just have every cliche possible when talking about pitchers. Lilly has never had a winning season till last year? Big deal. Lilly and Sabathia had the exact same whip last year.
  9. Mizzou up by 13 over Texas with 2 mins left
  10. Damn, Cleveland better go out and find a new number 1 starter, because Sabathia sucked in the playoffs.
  11. You are looking wayyyyyy to much into the series against Arizona. Let me ask you this, how many of those games do we win if our starters only give up 3 runs? Offense was the problem not the pitching. Playoffs and short series are crap shoots, thats it.
  12. Did you actually watch them the rest of the season? I'd have to assume no. Their 1 start in the playoffs means more than the rest of the year, duh.
  13. Our lineup as it stands right now is not horrible. Please tell me why Soriano leading off is a selfish move? There has been no proof that Soriano was unwilling to move down in the lineup. Soriano has done what Lou has asked him to do since he got here, and anyways, Soriano leading off last year wasnt really the problem with the Cubs offense.
  14. Agreed, and Soto should be a pretty big upgrade over Kendall. Pie is the biggest question mark on this team, and if Cedeno could beat out Theriot and produce anywhere near his AAA numbers, we can live with Pies struggles.
  15. Getting production from the catchers spot will be a huge upgrade from last season. Also being able to stop singles from automatically being doubles will help also. Fukudome should top the production form Jones/Floyd. Hopefully like you said Cedeno tears up spring, and can overtake Theriot. The playoffs are a crap shoot. Our pitching was one of the tops in the league last year, but they struggled when it mattered most. Our offense was basically horrible all year, and it continued in the playoffs. Our 1-3 starters have just as good as chance at shutting somebody down as most other teams 1-3, dont look into that series with the DBacks too much. Going into every season every team is trying to win, and nothing is a guarantee. As it stands right now, the Brewers and us are the favorites for the division, and both teams should be near the top of the NL.
  16. Yea because with all that Hendry has done for the Cubs he definatly deserves a break. Jeesh guys lay off
  17. No Wood surprises me. Doesnt he live in the Chicago area? Not real surprised bout the other 3 guys not being there.
  18. You guys are forgetting that Capuano was absolutely brutal last year. He is a huge question mark. Then you also add in Sheets missing his usual 1-2 months, and Suppan is an innings eater, but not really that good. You then have Dave Bush who well, sucks. Milwaukees pitching isnt really that good. Of course their offense makes up for that.
  19. That never gets old does it? I cant see those pics in your sig, can you add a few more and make them bigger please?
  20. I couldn't find a specific date for this year, but last year they went on sale in mid-June. Thnanks man, I looked all over and couldnt find a date either. I wonder how hot of a ticket this will be. Sell out or no? About 20 guys from my work are planning on trying to go.
  21. Ok so Im getting ready to go to bed, and I fully expect this trade may or may not be done by the time I wake up around 3:30 pm. I hope Im right.
  22. What do you expect when Ben Wallace and Tyrus Thomas are on the floor at the same time while NY has Marbury and Crawford. Boylan is in over his head. Ben Wallace cant leave Chicago soon enough. This guy quit on Scott Skiles, then has say in Skiles job, and then suddenly has a double digit rebounds in every game since Skiles left.
  23. Just wondering if anybody knew when tickets go on sale for the Illinois-Mizzou game?
  24. Apparently Rick Tellander of the Tribune took up the position that he wouldnt vote for anybody because of the steroid era. What a jackass. How in the hell can he punish guys like Dawson, and Blyleven who played in the 70's and 80's mainly, for what todays athletes are supposedly doing. His argument is "how does he know these guys were clean"? Well Rick how do we know you are a coked up prostitute? Give me a break. He should have his vote yanked from him. Just another reason why its crap that writers are the ones who vote for this.
  25. Will the offense be nice? They were the worst in the AL last year. Are Swisher and Cabrera really going to make up that much of a difference? Dont forget about Carlos Quentin, and a full year of Josh Fields. Their offense should be better just by not playing Darrin Erstad so much, but they have no chance in that division.
