  1. So Felix gets to sit the entire DBacks series huh Lou? Thats genius.
  2. That link I gave you is comparing him to all relievers.
  3. It's just a ritual here. Every time Marmol pitches, everybody screams ZOMG HE IS BEING OVERUSED HIS ARM WILL FALL OFF ZOMG ZOMG. It's pretty amusing. (a) 95% of the complaining comes when lou needlessly uses marmol, as was the case in saturday's game (b) he's on pace to throw more innings than any reliever in baseball last season, so to laugh it off is awfully foolish. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080510-carlos-marmol-chicago-cubs,1,4562380.story Does anyone know how he ranks among relievers in IP? I don't know how to look that up and sort just by relievers. to add on to that, is there a way of tallying # of pitches by reliever. I can only find that stat across baseball.... Looks like Carlos has thrown 364 pitches, which would put in 9th in NL relievers, and 11th in the Majors. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/pitching?sort=thirdInnings&split=128&league=mlb&season=2008&seasonType=2&type=pitch3&ageMin=0&ageMax=99&hand=a&pos=all&minip=0

I don't know how to look that up and sort just by relievers. Marmol is tied for 4th in innings pitched by a reliever in the NL with 23. Chan Ho Park leads with 25 innings pitched. Hes tied for 5th in the Major leagues.
  5. KC Johnson was on Comcast tonight saying the Bulls are pissed because D'antoni didnt even give the Bulls a chance to make a counter offer.
  6. Well besides Johnson continuing to start against rightys, Id agree. I cant believe Felix didnt get to start the last 2 games, and with Johnson on the mound tomorrow Im sure he will sit then too. Lou is screwing over Felix right now, and its indefensible.
  7. 10 million dollars
  8. Chris Perez LaRussa isn't the type to throw a closer in there w/out ML experience, despite having the stuff and moxie to close, his struggles with command and control would likely equate to him being in a role like McClellan and work his way into that role. If they do something, Franklin would like close, McClellan bumps to set-up, Perez would be the 7th inning guy, Villone sticks as the Loogy. Exactly and they would basically be in the same boat they are in right now.
  9. The funny thing is, the Cardinals have noone to even think about filling the closer role. I guess you could put Franklin there but hes no sure thing.
  10. So I was thinking last night, and anybody else besides myself, think if the Cards go into Milw this weekend and either take 2 of 3, or sweep the Brew Crew that Yost could get the axe? I know its still kind of early, but the Brewers have lost 6 in a row, are under .500, and are a downward spiral right now. Also there were rumors of him being let go after last years collapse, so with their bad start, coupled with a bad weekend vs the Cards, it wouldnt surprise me at all if he gets the axe.
  11. Well I believe this guys has claimed to have some type of source with the Cubs. So who knows at this point, but nothing with Lou would surprise me right now.
  12. Bad thing is Lous not going away anytime soon. Id be interested in Trammal, and Sandburgs name would definately be mentioned when Lou finally does leave.
  13. Expecting a bullpen to go 7 shutout innings is ignorant. Starting pitching is our major problem right now not the bullpen. If our starting pitchers would quit only going 5 innings damn near everytime out, our bullpen would be fine.
  14. After a day when our starting pitcher gives up 4 Hr's in 1 inning, you are asking questions about the pen? Are your serious?
  15. So it sure would be nice to hear the Chicago media quit being pussys and start asking Lou some tough questions and quit being scared of him, however I dont expect that to happen anytime soon.
  16. No defense in walks. Missals ain't good either but if you can't even throw a strike, you have problems. Well lets see What was the score when Hill left the game compared to when Lieber left the game, and then tell me where the bigger problem is. The difference being a guy that shouldn't be starting and a pitcher who had a tough time finding the strike zone. When Hill was walking batters like that, what would you do in that game? My point is when Lieber is giving up shot after shot he gets to stay in the game and finish an inning, but while Hill struggles to find his location he is yanked. Which seems more likely, Hill gets one across the plate and they hit a grounder somewhere, or Lieber suddenly starts missing bats and quits giving up hit after hit?
  17. Hmm color me shocked that a pitcher who hasnt been allowed to face more than 1 batter in an appearance starts to struggle in his 3rd inning of work.
  18. No defense in walks. Missals ain't good either but if you can't even throw a strike, you have problems. Well lets see What was the score when Hill left the game compared to when Lieber left the game, and then tell me where the bigger problem is.
  19. Reed Johnson against RH pitchers hahaha. Lous a damn genius.
  20. I think his point is by walking batters you have no defense but at least throwing strikes you have one. Not when the balls land in the stands
  21. LOL at Lieber. Good call Lou, good call. Its pretty funny we yank a kid in the middle of the inning for walking 4 guys, but we let the veteran get out of the inning after giving up 4 Hr's in an inning. I see the strategy now.
  22. THG (the clear) is a designer anabolic steroid that's incredibly potent I believe. If Soto was on the Cardinals people here would've accused him of that already anyway. Because people pick on the Cards player that actually did get busted? Because he had an unexpected performance spike and he's on a rival team. Or the fact that he's really good and either hasn't always been or sort of came out of nowhere (happens with Pujols all the time). It's not really a big deal, just par for the course on fan forums. I'm not saying it has anything to do with Ankiel, other than that if he were on the Cubs people would've done their homework on HGH and wouldn't think it was a big deal. Yea thats the only reason people here mention HGH when discussing Ankiel. Has nothing to do with any kind of actual report that came out last year accusing him of it, and him admitting to it. That couldnt be it at all.
  23. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA you have got to be effing kidding me
  24. So Lou pulls Rich Hill after walking 4 guys in 1 inning, but lets Leiber give up 4 Hr's in 1 inning, and continue to try to get thru the inning. Must be that veteran savvyness.
  25. Bum, cut him.
