  1. That had broken wrist all over it. Juan Cruz is nasty
  2. It wasn't all that bad all things considered. 4.1 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 6 K. Yes, it was pretty bad. If this was a Marquis game, people would be roasting him. Or, to use fangraph, he lowered the Cubs' chances of winning by 14.4% points. I'll take it as a surprise spot start in the kid's first big league start who hasn't thrown many innings the past 2 weeks. Excuses You can call them excuses but under those circumstances, few if any young pitchers would perform well. It's the reality of the situation. I was being sarcastic Cal, as Ive been the one trying to defend Gallaghers outing today. I think Kyle is being a little rough on a guy making his 1st major league start on a moments notice, and saying it was a bad outing. He was cruising for 4 innings, and given the sporadic use of Gallagher, Im not surprised he started running out of gas in the 5th.

He was cruising untill the 5th inning, and honestly shouldnt be a surprise he started missing with his pitches. Excuses can be made for anyone. Performance counts. Wow

  6. It wasnt? Making an emergency start, you dont think today wasnt that good? Damn you are harsh on Gallagher.
  7. And Lou strikes again. The guy is a genius.
  8. Thank God he swung because I doubt he could throw 3 strikes.
  9. Release this piece of crap....I mean Lou by the way.
  10. Why the eff would you not bring Weurtz in before Fox, Lou?
  11. Good call Lou Good call. Seriously I hate Lou
  12. That sounds a lot more like excuse-making for lack of performance than evidence. How is that excuse making? Soto's loss of weight has equaled better performance, why do you find it so hard to believe that Gallaghers loss of weight hasnt done the same? Also Seans use in the pen was sporadic at best, and should be taken with a huge grain of salt. Soto's loss of weight equaled better performance. Gallagher's, to this point, has not, so I see no reason to change his projections from what they were before he lost weight. Agree to disagree, because I think you are being awfully hard on Gallaghers past.

  14. He's younger, cheaper, and a better option than both of those two. He'll take his lumps, but getting him experience now will pay off quite well down the road. Plus, he's good enough right now that he'll likely be a better option than Marquis and Lieber right now. Think of it like Pie and Reed Johnson, imo. I'd like to see some evidence that he's better right now, the way Pie is better than Johnson right now. His 2007, translated into MLEs, was average at AA, good at AAA and horrible at the majors. PECOTA has him roughly .2 ERA better than Marquis and about the same worse than Lieber. All in all, I'd put him in the rotation, but it's not a case of a definitively better player sitting like it is with Pie. Hes lost weight, and gained more velocity on his fastball than he had in years past. Hes gotten better with age, and learned how to pitch. Hes been horrible in the majors doing a job hes never done before.
  15. I agree he should be back up but I doubt the Cubs like the 52 strikes and 40 balls. I bet he makes at least 1 more down there.
  16. well today is the one day he should be sitting Right, which is why you dont sit him for the 1st 2 games of the series against rightys.
  17. They're trying to save face, imo. They know the Knicks pulled the rug out from under them. I dont know KC Johnson isnt one that makes excuses for Pax, or the Bulls. He said that from everything he heard, Reinsdorf has told Pax that money wont really be a factor, but that Reinsdorf is hesitant to give out another 4 year deal due to the Skiles situation.
  18. Well if Lou or Larry have any say, probably 9 days or so after his 1st start.
