  1. Cardinals 2011-2014 so 4 years. F’n Cardinals. It had to be. Thanks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Major_League_Baseball_franchise_postseason_streaks
  2. Tried to make a joke about getting "Dex" from the Cardinals cheap because racist St. Louis. Autocorrect changed "Dex." There are some things you don't want to get for cheap in St. Louis.
  3. it gets even better in 2019 when you add harper to the mix. Don't forget fixed Schwarber or Heyward.
  4. Schwarber's value has never been higher. Baez's peaked over the last offseason, but is still higher than it should be. Not advocating either, but trading Schwarber right now would be stupid. He was untouchable a season ago. He's now a non-commodity. your valuation disclaimer's are all over the place Haha. The first sentence should be, "Schwarber's value has never been lower." I'm trying to say its an awful time to trade him, and not a great time to trade either, even if one were inclined to do so. Which I'm not.
  5. that's tony larussa Joe just hasn't been busted. That's why he only drives RV's. "Am I driving, officer, or am I at home? You can see the confusion, I'm sure."
  6. I'd bring him back at the right price. He will receive 25 offers better than my right price, however. So yeah, any realistic scenario where he's back on the Cubs is likely very bad for my favorite team.
  7. well deserved. thread title is vicious.
  8. lock, ban, erase hard drive.
  9. Woah, since when are you back?!
  10. He retired in 2011, spent 4 seasons as an analyst and a full year as bench coach on a good team. And apparently worked as the PR's GM in the WBC, for whatever that is worth. Is this a line from West Side Story? I watched West Side Story Last night. I'm sure this is more than frequency illusion. The whole world is deeply connected. and West Side story is the hub.
  11. Good gracious. Setting aside the terribly unfocused narrative here, he mentions trading 1) Russell at all and 2) Baez OR Russell as if the two were interchangeable, almost ancillary parts of this team. Cameron beings the quality of the Fangraphs staff down a huge amount on his own He was on with Bernstein and Goff the other day and was saying innumerable dumb things, the worst of which was him talking about recency bias when discussing using Duensing instead of Wilson i the playoffs. Idiot. Give him a break. Its difficult to distinguish between "recency bias" and "obviously dead."
  12. I'll be watching the 2016 World Series instead.
  13. That'd be effing stupid. I'd prefer we not trade a guy with a damn near historic glove that can hit 25-30 HR. Schwarber seems to be the obvious trade bait. He needs to go be a DH somewhere. Schwarber's value has never been higher. Baez's peaked over the last offseason, but is still higher than it should be. Not advocating either, but trading Schwarber right now would be stupid. He was untouchable a season ago. He's now a non-commodity.
  14. 2-Joe Maddon 2017 NLCS Yep, multiple people said on Twitter last night that Joe is now the first person (manager or otherwise) to get tossed twice in a playoff series. I refuse to believe Lou never accomplished this.
  15. It feels like '07, '08. For the first time in 2-and-a-half years, I expect bad thing with the Cubs at the plate. End this pain. Tonight the juggernaut returns!
  16. Game 2 1998
  17. for kent's sake he Kent be serious! Dear Kent!! do it right or don't do it, man! BTW, how did we miss Merker's name as a divine injunction in our list of nsbb memes?
  18. Me too. So much is said about Theo (and rightfully so!!). But this is the man that got the man that got these great players. I propose a giant gold statue of his likeness be erected in grant park! Kinda like this.
  19. I hope it's (finally) Pujols! He can be fasciitis buddies with Russell.
  20. nah, it was a bad play, but nothing worse than some other "great" left fielders have made. He'll be a DH on the downhill side of his career, but don't write him off on one play. He got a little lazy. My guess is it will motivate him. I don't think it is laziness. He just doesn't read the ball well or see it some times. If you watch the play again, you can clearly see him jogging before he realizes he is out of position and he tries to sprint to the ball. He routinely does this. Some of his more "spectacular" catches were because he was out of position on the ball and managed to run it down. I'm talking about the second error. He frustratedly slapped at the ball instead of going down and getting it. It may have been more a desire to turn and make a quick throw, rather than laziness or frustration though. Don't try to Javy, Kyle. Just go back to Kyling.

  22. dumb hockey, boring hockey, hockey-hockey-hockey, stupid. worst sport stuff, dumb stupid hockey-hockey. stupid dumb, dumb. Ok, done yet? :)
  23. bleep-bleep bloop-bloop... accessing data "russell lady friends"... loading... 1.5 billion results... loading... this might be my favorite david robot post ever. and from such a dark horse poster. I may not bring quantity, but I try to deliver quality.
