  1. Its never about the money. Its about the respect and appreciation of what I do. The money is just a statement of that respect.
  2. You don't remember the great Leo Gomez?!? You're no fan.
  3. :? :?: A-rod opted out of his contract so how exactly is he still property of the YanksI don't think the opt out becomes official until the free agent period begins...in other words, he can opt out of next year's contract and subsequent years, but this year has to be fulfilled and we're not technically at the end of the CBA year.
  4. *in best grizzled vet voice* welcome to the team, son.
  5. Reminded me of Alou on the Bartman play. I don't blame Lilly or Alou, but showing level of that frustration is unlikely to accomplish anything but to bring you and your teammates down.
  6. Nah. 1984 game 5. I was a wreck. Yeah, I was a pretty big wreck then too...I knew it was only one more year before I would be born and I was getting really frustrated not existing. burn! I had just turned 8 and it is the primary reason I had ulcers as a child. BTW today is my birthday...what better present than a CUBS WIN!!! Happy 31st Bday mang! thanks, bro

  8. D-Backs: "Anybody, Anytime" Cubs: "Somebody?......Anybody?.....Beuller? Beuller?
  9. changing of the sign
  10. not that there's been much difference between him and Miller this year (both with .296 OBP, Estrada with more pop) but little difference can be big this time of year. Estrada out for season
  11. Listening to Stoney on the Score this morning, he seemed to be implying the same thing, saying he'd like to be on the same workout regimen Soto was on in the offseason. It's hard not to raise your eyebrows a bit when a player equals his career totals in homeruns in one year Is there a minor league expert out there that may know if Soto changed his stroke this year, ala Sandberg, or if his power surge is attributed to weight loss, etc. I love Soto and his current production, but it is difficult not to be skeptical on the means he might have pursued in order to do so. I don't think it's difficult to not be skeptical. He's hitting the age when power develops. He got himself into shape last offseason as well. I heard Stoney say that too, and i then repented for listening to the score. Its bull. He lost weight, not gained it. He realized after six years, that his future could be different if he got into shape. That said, I think he gets figured out by the league next year, and possibly in the playoffs against good pitching and with ALL the opponents' scouts watching him.
  12. anyone on the 40 man roster has a major league contract and vice versa (that's why Samardzija is on the 40 man) even if they're playing in Iowa - or Daytona for that matter.
  13. You're missing a BIG difference. In our case, it really is CT's fault.
  14. Online somewhere? Or did you have it TiVo'd? mlb.tv archived games have been free for a while now. can't get it...what am I doing wrong?
  15. You can't play a team from your own division in the DS. you're saying the same thing. If the wild card comes from the division of the "best record team", they don't play each other. If the wild card is not from the same division as the "best record team", they play the "best record team" thus not playing a team in their own division.
  16. Soto...mmmm
  17. actually up in the loss column. Cubs control their own destiny Now I'm excited.
  18. He definitely had some jingling HUGE brass balls last night. after checking the sound my own make, i can assure you that big brass balls dont really jingle, its more of a clanking sound ;) must be hollow. That's why he's not a closer.
  19. peaking at the right time. I think he and Eyre were both overused last year, and that this accounts for the slow start. Edited to add: Howry's career would been very different if Foulke had not emerged in 2000.
  20. what's the latest on Sheets?
  21. Why? Hes already said hes playing. Really? wow Brewers about to break it open I smell a 1st place tie :( I miss something? Why would Braun not play Saturday? He's Jewish
  22. lets start with a hit
