  1. Marginally. Kosuke doesn't ask for much, but he did ask to play right field. What does it hurt?
  2. hmm gotta figure milwaukee and St louis' pitchers hitting in the 8 spot if ou're gonna make that statement.
  3. In play run(s)...gameday spoils it again
  4. ... HI DAVE OTTO! I thought Ron was supposed to be back by now. He is... It's not Otto. It's the guy that comes in for a little while for Pat. Corey Provis sp?
  5. Comrade! I clicked on that link just before the national anthem...freaky don't do that! what? that anthem is better than ours. I forgot you are the resident communist. Shouldn't you like a communist board then?

  7. With all due respect to Bruce, I think even he would agree that people are allowed to have differing opinions about things. Now obviously he's more in the know, and might have some sort of knowledge about why Pie was never given a shot, or why Edmonds was better than his numbers in SD, but even then, this isn't a communist board where everyone is supposed to think alike. no, i beg to differ. it is a communist board because we're all supposed to be meatballs and hate edmonds or get flamed. there are those who would have you think so...but they will be eliminated soon.
  8. No, because Bruce is wrong. not wrong...just playing nice/not burning bridges.
  9. wow, lighten up... mostly a joke mostly
  10. This is a sad, sad day in Cubs history. Its like they sold their soul. I've often pontificated that the fates would require the death of Wrigley before they would grant a Cubs WS win. This is so much worse that it almost guarantees that this is the year. So the question is....is it worth it?...what would you give for a WS win?
  11. Yeah but Edmonds is gritty ... :hello: Of course..This Cubs organization is to obsessed with buying low and expecting these guys to ressurect their career and become phenomanal by joining the Cubs..Wade Miller,Lieber, Etc..I hope I am wrong and Edmonds becomes a RHP killing machine but I don't see it happening. But if 2005 Edmonds come back, I would be happy as hell. Outfielders can't be gritty. He goes all out, gives 110%, leaves it all on the field, plays the game the right way, and is a "baseball player" however.
  12. As I understand it he's cleared waivers therefore, no team has put in a claim meaning all Hendry has to offer is the league minimum. just because he CAN offer league minimum, doesn't mean he WILL. The teams didn't pass on Edmonds, they passed on him at his current salary. THe OP is saying that Hendry is thinking that SURELY a lot of other teams are interested in him at a reduced rate, so Hendry will outbid himself.
  13. this tells me a deal is close and the new owner said "no deal unless I get both" Zell wouldn't do this if it didn't = $$
  14. I dunno, it may be ok for 60-80 innings a year as opposed to 166.7 his rookie year. Also the willingness to throw it might be indicative of a more complete health/confidence in his health.
  15. those guys would not have gotten the shot in Chicago they did in Fla. They were buried in a pitching deep system at the time.
  16. And they still couldn't knock him around. Pathetic-er
  17. No, but the naming rights will be sold to the highest bidder with the Wrigley company already stating that they wouldn't be in the bidding. With a new corporate ownership of the Wrigley name, some bright exec might find keeping the name of the field the same would buy both quality advertising and good will.
  18. The metro is always better.
  19. Looking at the Cubs schedule that year is just so depressing. I remember that year really well. Incredible start and it looked like the Cubs were going to steamroll through the season. Then one pitcher went on the DL. Then another. And another. And another. Then the entire starting rotation was on the DL at the same time. tough to manage through that. I remember that year too. I really thought the Cubs were going to win back-to-back division titles until the bottom dropped out. The pitching situation seemed similar to 2006, with one major difference. In 2006 the Cubs had legitimate pitching prospects that were called up earlier than they otherwise would have been, but I think that experience helped some of them (such as Marmol and Marshall) last year. In 1985, however, they were starting AA-quality pitchers who never pitched in the majors after that year (anybody remember the legendary Steve Engel, Johnny Abrego, and Derek Botelho?). Yes, some of us remember..... but we're trying real hard to forget, eh? Was that the year of the bad Mayonaisse?
  20. I for one don't mind having Hill treated with kid gloves. Its a lot better than watching Dusty run Prior out there with an 8-1 lead and over 100 pitches under his belt. If Hill's arm doesn't fall off, I am proven right. How's that for logic?
  21. If you lift a lot of weights, your muscles get bigger. If you lift a lot of weights and take steroids your muscles get a lot bigger. I can pretty much promise you if I dedicated myself to a strict diet and specific workout program over 1 year you would see a remarkable difference. In 3 years it would be huge. Its very possible. Not to mention that these athletes have the best trainers, technology and equipment, PLUS rather than dividing time between family, job, workout, this IS their job and they're away from family.
  22. your post is too long
