    That's kind of the point. He finally felt comfortable moving Fukudome to the top (where he belongs) because he finally had another lefty in the middle of the order that he has confidence in. Bad logic? Maybe. But that's definitely why he would say it.

    still the best record in baseball. Maybe Carlos gets some rest, marshall proves his worth and they're a step closer. Honestly, this team can afford a bad stretch and still be "in it". The only way this is really bad is if it requires surgery. Even then he's one player (albeit the best) on a team full of good players.

    all great Cubs relievers operate this way Smith, Beck, Williams, walk them loaded, then strike out the side.

    I don't see him back any sooner than the full six weeks. This is wishful thinking by Soriano.

    How old are you? Old enough to know better. And old enough not to care. I'm 31 but became a Cubs fan in '84 at age 8. So when it comes to the Cubs I allow myself to be perpetually 8. You should try it. Its blissfully cathartic. Or so my therapist says. For a hundred bucks an hour, you'd think he could come up with something better.

    My feelings haven't changed. Edmonds was among the most hated members of the most hated team. What was it '03 where the Cards and Astros were constantly in beanball wars with the Cubs? Ausmus, Ozwalt, Edmonds, Carpenter. These names mean "enemy" to me. I continue to hope the Cubs win despite Edmonds going o-fer.

    THe Cubs have always stolen signs from the scoreboard. Its a commonly known fact. It almost makes up for the rigors of playing so many day games. Umm... what was the latest excuse about Wrigley? yeah, whatever.

    would have liked to have seen Sandberg swing and miss where he catches the bat in his other hand.

    ugh, i hate this line of reasoning. it's innings that matter, not days. This is true. A starter will always affect more innings than a reliever if they are starting every 5 days and giving an average of 5 innings a start. Not even Marmol is on a 162 inning pace. This argument has been argumented on these boards before. Not every inning is created equal.

    above .500 (4/7) on this west coast trip should be considered success. with the Cubs 14-2 against the western division, and the roll they're on, I expect nothing less that 6 of 7.

    Dudes a gamer. He's the spark that gets the rest of the team going. Those other guys may have the numbers, but players like Ellsbury are invaluable. So on and so forth, rabble rabble rabble. So does being a "gamer" not add any value to a team? OOOOH boy ......here we go.

    has a losing or .500 record against the NL East and the NL Central. How bad is that division. This also sheds light on Arizona's record. Outside that horrible division, they are also horrible.

    Lets also keep in mind that the Cubs are shooting for .500 on the road tonight. they can't be sub500 on the road at the end of the year.

    It don't matter, CT, 'cause we can win more. :wink: Still, it's more comfortable if the other teams lose. I like it when the division is good. It erases that stigma of, "yeah the Cubs are in first, but its in the lowly NL Central". Shows that the Cubs are the class act in a classy division.
