  1. So if we controlled the puck more, hit two posts, and had an even number of shots, what besides score did they do to make you think they controlled the period?
  2. you could argue that the flyers have outplayed us so far in this series You could. But you'd be wrong. yeah and you also think that was a fine first period. it wasn't terrible or anything, but they outplayed us. You are reacting to the score alone. Both teams had plenty of quality chances and the shots were even.
  3. Yahoo says Byfuglien got a roughing call at the end of the period. You know McCreary's out there, guys, quit giving him excuses.
  4. you could argue that the flyers have outplayed us so far in this series You could. But you'd be wrong.
  5. Perfectly fine period. Plenty of good chances, good defensive coverage, two posts. They just made a heckuva power-play play to take the lead. Versteeg needs to grab some pine. He can't touch the puck without coughing it up.
  6. My earliest hockey memories are scribbling out all the Pittsburgh Penguins in their 1992 championship team card, and listening on the radio when the Blackhawks were eliminated in Game 5 of the WCF by the Red Wings in 2OT in 1995.
  7. Yeah, I'm not going to lie, that's pretty horrible. At least if the Blackhawks ever stop winning you can jump back! :)
  8. You play kickball every week. The Blackhawks never gone for a 3-0 lead in the SCF in your lifetime.
  9. If the penalty disparity is large again tonight, especially with very few called on the Flyers, I wonder if the Chicago media will be up on the McCreary story.
  10. yeah, they aren't winning and i can see them getting blown out. Too much energy for the Flyers, and eventually some puck luck is bound to go against us in front of our own crease.
  11. Meh. We won't bench Burish for some reason and Kopecky has been great in the playoffs. No loss.
  12. You don't win seven playoff games in a row without being simultaneously lucky and good. But I do think goal differential is a little suspect as a metric because, outside of Game 1 of the SCF, the Blackhawks' defense and goaltending has been outstanding. Small differences are magnified in a low-scoring environment.
  13. Yes. It's well-known around the league that he can't skate at all anymore, but he keeps getting high-profile games.
  14. 2-1 series. Honestly, I'm really interested to see how much more onesided they can get away with. So who determines the ref crews for these games? Why does McCreary always wind up reffing the games? He's one of the most senior referees in the league. They will be alternating the two-man crews we've seen so far for the rest of the series. McCreary gets games 1 3 5 and 7, I think.
  15. It's the same reffing crew from game 1, featuring McCreary of "13 penalties on Chicago and 1 on their opponents in the last three games" fame. We're boned.
  16. I'll be happy if both are 8-2 in a few days.
  17. Man, Pronger is awesome. I hope he blows his knee out getting off the plane in Philly and has lots of time to give hilarious interviews.
  18. Burish redeems himself a little in my eyes:
  19. What was disappointing about the third isn't that Philadelphia created a lot of chances. They were losing, so they cheated and pinched to get those chances. What's disappointing is that the Blackhawks didn't create any sort of counterattack to take advantage of that cheating and pinching. They did a fantastic job of this in the Vancouver series, especially game 6, but had nothing last night. I hope that isn't a trend.
  20. Philadelphia dominated one period, and it just happened to be the one in which they had three power plays. The Blackhawks dominated the first period and I gave Philly a slight edge in the second period just because of some breakaway chances they had. I really, really hope the ice in Philadelphia is better.
  21. 11. You guessed it: Pittsburgh Penguins, 1992, finishing it with a sweep of Chicago. That's also the record for playoff win streak in a single season, tied by the 1993 Canadiens (who won the Cup but did not end it on the streak) and the 1992 Blackhawks, who won 11 straight going into the Final.
  22. How much sicker would it look with two more wins?
  23. There are no moral victories now. This ends one of two ways: Cup or choke.
  24. The team with home-ice advantage that starts out 2-0 in the Finals is 32-2 in the series.
  25. One of the reason the Blackhawks are successful on the road is that Quenneville is *fanatical* about getting the matchups he wants even without last change. If he doesn't like the matchup, the Hawks will *immediately* dump the puck and change every single time. It's maddening, but it works.
