  1. But can't teams change lines whenever they want? I don't understand the concept of a "last change". You can try. But if you try to change when the other team has the puck or when you have it in your own zone, you are leaving yourself wide open for an easy goal. You can only change when you get the puck deep into the opponent's zone, and even then you are giving up possession of the puck in order to get your change.
  2. 1) Whenever there is a stoppage of play, the home team doesn't have to send out its players until the road team has sent out theirs, meaning they get to choose who plays against who after every whistle. 2) +/- does not include power-play goals for or penalty-kill goals against. It *does* count shorthanded goals for and against. 3) Don't get me started.
  3. Sopel was paired with Hjalmersson the whole 3rd period. Campbell barely saw the ice. I've heard rumors Campbell is having back issues.
  4. I thought Toews' line was decent tonight, even without actually scoring. I think Niemi's in the picture now, but I still suspect it'd be Toews if the hawks can win the series.
  5. Seriously, Antti Niemi just stole a Stanley Cup Final game. He completely stole it. Also, Sopel was awesome.
  6. Wednesday night will be the second June Blackhawks game in history.
  7. Referees: Kelly Sutherland, Stephen Walkom Linesmen: Jean Morin, Steve Miller Thanks, was wondering if Mr. McCreary or whatever the hell is name is was involved. There were penalties on Philadelphia called, so clearly not. They only use 4 refs in the final, so I'm guessing he'll be back for game 3.
  8. Pronger and Eager got game misconducts after the final whistle. I don't know for what.
  9. Toews' line created some nice cycling and possession at different points in the game. Much better than game 1.
  10. 2-0 leads in the finals are 41 for 45.
  11. BTW, whenever he's not playing the Blackhawks, I'm going to make it a point to watch more Pronger. He is amazing.
  12. If they can win the next two (HUGE if), they tie for second fewest losses in a 16-win cup run.
  13. He stuck his stick into the guy's skate and took him down. I don't know how much more legit a tripping call can get. I'm more upset about what the Flyers get away with than what the Hawks are getting called for. if a flyer had done it there would have been no call. If a Flyer took out a gun and shot Patrick Kane, it'd be coincidental minors as Kane's dead body gets two for delay of game for bleeding on the ice.

  15. Horrible third period. I know that the Flyers were pinching and cheating to create offense, but you have to create some counterattacks off of that. A win is a win is a win. Two moar, plz.
  16. Only 17:49 for Pronger so far. He won't be as gassed in the third as he was last game.
  17. When they have the replays up on blackhawks.nhl.com, count the odd-man scoring chances for Philly in that period. They had way more scoring chances.
  18. almost makes up for the all those atrocious "history will be made" commercials. what is wrong with you the first 5 or so were cool. then they decided to do one for every single play of every single playoff game. no, i don't need to see patrick marleau scoring a rebound goal in reverse and half the time, the "what if ____" part doesn't even make sense. i saw one that said "what if toews stayed home?"/ why the [expletive] owuld toews have stayed home? Agree that they've overdone them. But the good ones are great.
  19. Kane would look better if Byfuglien wasn't being so worthless along the boards. You can't have two guys on the same line who can't win puck battles.
  20. whatttt? i thought we dominated that period. i thought philly was a little better in the 1st. We outshot them 9-3 in the first. They had *nothing* going. We gave up some ugly neutral zone turnovers in the second and Niemi bailed us out. Tons of odd-man breaks.
  21. What a period! I honestly thought Philadelphia was a little better. But Hossa's bad luck finally turned and then Leighton showed how awful he is on Eager's goal. Versteeg and a few others: Quit being fancy in the neutral zone. Get it deep. We had way too many neutral zone turnovers and it created some chances for the Flyers. Sopel: Pinching a few times? Seriously? It worked, you magnificent SOB, but quit scaring me. Niemi: Welcome to the Finals Brouwer: IDIOT
  22. He's not really standing on his head. I haven't seen any really tough saves or anything. Just haven't gotten the right bounce in front of the net or a shot in just the right spot yet. Fantastic period. Exactly what I wanted to see from them in game 1.
  23. McCreary has refereed three Blackhawks playoff games in the last few rounds. In those games, the Blackhawks have been penalized 13 times, and their opponents 1 time. I don't know how the league lets this ish slide.
  24. That seems like a pretty big overreaction to a bad game. It's a minor line juggle, and you are free to change it back at any point in the game if you don't like how it's looking. I don't think it'd be a pretty big anything.
  25. I wonder if you try mixing up the lines a little after Toews/Kane/Byfuglien did so little. I know you don't want to break up the line that was working, but maybe swap Hossa for Kane and put Kaner on the Brouwer/Sharp line.
