  1. could never, eer be bad news if you are at a Cubs game and most of us are at home.
  2. As I remember Z had a really tough game with Montague behind the plate
  3. those two moves you mentioned were and are the best moves by a Cubs GM in years
  4. order a pizza and tell her the Cubs are more important, seems flawless to me. I think she already thinks that I love the Cubs more, and that only partially true. I just love them more during playoffs
  5. considering many of our wins occur with scoring in the late inning it should be interesting to see what we do in the late innings against AZ
  6. Help!!! wifes birthday is on Wednesday, is it proper to take her out to a sports bar with a TV
  7. Cleveland rocks, as a teen I moved not far from cleveland and was in the stands of a 90k seat stadium with 3000 people there.
  8. I can't remember if they put her at 60'6" or not, but I know they had a little competition to see how she could do against a major league hitter a few years ago. Richie Sexon got the chance to try to hit about 20 pitches from her. I think he made contact with 2 or 3 of them and generally looked awful at the plate. She wasn't throwing from 60'6. It was from softball distance. and he strikes out a lot anyway If she were to throw a baseball from 60'6", my guess is a fastball that tops out around 80 with little movement. Would a male with greater leg strength and arm velocity be able to hit the 90's then?
  9. Do you remember the softball team the "King and the court" the pitcher could throw strikes from second base.
  10. Through an economic view it was a good article, which makes for a good lesson plan. I saw an article that said that all sports will someday go to PPV. This would be the downfall of MLB then
  11. Nine year old (softball playing) daughter asked can a major league pitcher throw under-handed like she does when she pitches? I remember Kent Tekulve, but that was a low side arm. by the rules can they?
  12. The good: Willing to spend, willing to be visible The Bad: Willing to trade for Monroe
  13. I can pretty much remember every loss that I've had as a coach and how it happened. Me too, couldn't tell you the order of my kids for the three state titles in CC but I can for the loss four years ago. Cuse are we the oldies on this website? Could you make that print a little bigger, I couldn't read what you wrote? I ain't old, but I'm sure we're in the top 10 percent age wise on this site. Fred might be the oldest as he often said he played ball with Jesus. And let me tell you this, you think Randolph is getting crucified in the press, he hasn't got a thing over the big man when he made an error that cost Nazareth the game against Rome. Man I am not that old, I only go back to the post season of the crusades when the Pope sent the wiley rookies the "Children Crusade" against the crafty veterans the Turks. Boy their a bad move that lead to a massacre .
  14. Great arm, but the price was still way to steep. It may not be if he comes through in the series, this is what we are paying him for, now let's see him earn it.

  16. I am sure Houston will always feel it for the killer "B's" But is the pain of defeat longer lasting than the joy of victory?
  17. Wow, that was a thoughtful gesture of you Derwood. I don't care what people say about you, you do have a heart. so, I'll second it.
  18. And it was served cold, much like the Met bats. Have fun talking about this all off season Met fans. And as a kicker, it takes some pressure off those 64 Phillies to. I pictured Ronnie and Ernie and Billy celebrating after that collapse and Fergie providing the.... well you name it he could provide it.
  19. REVENGE FOR 1969!!!!!!!!! RON THE MELT DOWN WAS FOR YOU.
  20. don't underestimate the DBacks esp. if Webb is on, which he usually is, and don't under estimate our perpencity to look like we did in Florida. It may sound like a cliche but like Bob said it is a whole new season, the stats out the window and hope the the cream rises to the top.
  21. for themselves first, don't think of anything else and don't dedicate it to anyone until you have won it.
  22. It all depends if the team wants to go with 4 starters or not. If there's only 3, they won't put Marquis on as a reliever. If 4, he'll be the 4th guy. Remember also that the roster can change from round to round so if the Cubs want to use 4 starters in one round and then 3 the next, they always could bring Marquis for one series and leave him off of another. I was going to say the same thing. If Lou chooses to us a four man rotation, who do you start for Game 4 if it's not Marquis? Steve Traschel? Basically what the decision is going to come down to for Lou is who he thinks will be more effective in Game 4: Z on 3 days rest or Marquis/Traschel/?. Why does everyone forget about Sean Marshall? I would definitely choose him over Marquis or Trachsel. Exactly!!!!! Free Marshall
  23. I am hppy to see the headlines and the post but are we going nuts here it is only a divisional title and frankly I am still not ready to drink my self stupid (I don't need a drink for that) to think we need a celebration party on Monday. You bet the Rsox and Yanks wouldn't
  24. Revenge for 1969
