  1. thanks I needed that laugh
  2. If we say let's compare Dunn with A Rod then he does. would I want him on my team? Ya But he did insult our grounds crew so probably not
  3. If you ever heard the reason my students got caught doing the wrong thing I am under the impression there is a whole lot of stupid people out there that would have it mailed to them.
  4. I think that's the magic number, right there. Just win every series. then have a dead heat between AZ and SD so SD can't rest Peavy against the Brewers
  5. I want to see a game where Marshal gets in, he should be used in some way. No use just affects confidence and control and he has a nasty curve-ball. Plus his head seems more stable than Z Oh ya, Derosa as leadoff because he is the only guy that can get on base these day, despite his speed.
  6. If you're like me, you've been wanting Dunn for a long time. I'm guessing the odds of his coming here voluntarily are negatively impacted by this. considering our grounds crew makes the decisions on who we sign this is a bit troubling. I am hoping he wasn't blaming the trap ball or Griffy injury on on the field
  7. I think his name is Bob
  8. I can attest to that by remembering the 1969 Cubs. How about too much rest which is probably Sean Marshall's problem
  9. I told my daughter to run after a pass-ball (as a parent) and she did, the coach looked at me anfd so did the ump. between innings I asked the ump why she couldn't and he said that rule only is in affect for 12 year old and up. I kept my mouth shut for the rest of the game
  10. OKC Marlins, either place just doesn't sound right for a fish mascot
  11. That was my first thought as well. Bcause the obvious answer is that most of us are realist and after wasting 136 mill on soriano I can't imagine we will want to be in a race for another 100+million dollar man. If this is a fantasy then yes ARod
  12. No. Sosa's injury shortened season was 1996. His career high in strikeouts was 174 in 1997, when he played 162 games. And the kids in school swear that Wikipedia is the absolute truth.
  13. Though ARam is hitting homeruns he is looking tired as well, I hope we can jump out to a ten zip lead over the cards and he is pulled. Anybody else notice Lou is getting a bit pudgy, putting it mildly
  14. I am fearing Cinci, they have nothing to lose and Dunn and Griffy will be swinging for the fences each time up. the bunt sign won't be on for them
  15. He is in full satanic regalia when he plays at Wrigley field
  16. and that was after the first 15 minutes
  17. and stats clearly don't tell you any of that. Yes, they do but the math in order to get to the final number is dizzying. lucky for all of us, there are website that do all the math for us there is no "final number". All stats have value in their own way, but there is no one magic stat. That's why we are able to use ridiculous amounts of bandwidth arguing. statistically is that more or less bandwith than the Steve Fossett search on google earth right now???
  18. during the eith inning, WGN kept showing it
  19. 2 1/2 weeks of development time for Pie is not going to be worth the drop of the Cubs playoff chances. In fact, one could argue that throwing Pie in there now could hurt his development. Trying to make adjustments in the middle of a playoff race can lead to some bad habits just to get a quick fix, and it can also lead to a much faster loss of confidence if Pie struggles and the team doesn't make the playoffs. In short, let him do what he's doing now, and then plug him in from day 1 next year (at worst have somebody to platoon with him against left-handers) and then don't remove him for the rest of the year. Could we not assume for any team that might be out of it might show us some kid from triple A that Pie is more familiar with than another veteran. would you play him then?
  20. and stats clearly don't tell you any of that. Yes, they do but the math in order to get to the final number is dizzying.
  21. Stats do fascinate me for a long road trip from Amarillo to Houston but does the guy hit the ball, does he catch the ball and can he throw the ball on game day is the most important stat. But thank you for clarifying
  22. Then sign Fukidome
  23. We had a storm role through last night just after Lamb hit the double and it took out my dish signal so I missed the dbl play, boy it was a restless night.
  24. He looked like a little kid looking through a window on a rainy day wanting to play baseball
  25. This is great, thik about it , last yeatr at this time we were actually working at our jobs or around the house not caring about our Cubs who were floundering in whatever place. This is a better feeling then the feeling I had last year at the same time. I will admit though i was wrong about the whole wild card thing, makes things interesting.
