  1. Jack brickhouse and Lou Boudreau being with my dad at the game after he snuck me out of school hanging 1/2 a day with him at work then going to the game. He was an exec. for US Steel and we would still get the cheap seats with the guys that worked on the shop floor of USSteel
  2. I.B.I.D This will be blasted in my classroom on Monday!!!
  3. At this point, I'd take anyone not named the Philadelphia Phillies or Colorado Rockies, at least in the NLDS. got to disagree I'll take the Phillies no matter how hot they are, we have hitstorically played big against the Phils when it mattered, in fact our two largest come backs in the last four years have been against them. I think the bigger question is to look at it from their point of view who would they rather play? Are all of them looing at us as the push over team?
  4. Diamondbacks right now don't have a long enough history to be offensive to me. Once living in AZ helps where I saw sammy hit his first grand-slam and all the great ST games
  5. New sod is usually a bit of a problem. But there are 10 days before any potential game on that field, it should be in good shape by then. Football teams sometimes resod midweek, and there's a lot more starting and stopping in that sport. Odds are you'll see some clumps come up here and there, and it will be noticeable for the TV cameras, but given the time frame, a quality grounds crew should be able to make it playable and relatively safe. Obviously it isn't the width of sod I just installed on my back lawn, I can't see it rooting in 10 days wouldn't it or couldn't it be like a rug on a hardwood floor and slip a little or trip over the seems?
  6. I noticed that the late inning punch in the 7-9th was not there, but we scored early. It looked like we did in April early May. Was it Lous's poor substitutions? or failure for the top of the order to get on so Lee and A Ram could drive them in?
  7. Lou or Jim? or both I am hoping Lou didn't run out and say "Hey, Jim get Steve Tracshel"
  8. More insane would be to start him if we make the playoffs
  9. to expand on this , even though it has been already. does anyone think Lou has anything against Marshal? He definetly is at par with the others these days. He doen't even use him in long term relief.
  10. god I feel dirty rooting for Edmonds to hit one. Like a ......... fill in the blank Less dirty now
  11. We start migrating from the other hopeless game to this one we pray the Cardinals can do anything to help us
  12. HAHAHAHAHA! THEY'VE LED FOR A HALF AN INNING ALL SERIES. I WOULDN'T COUNT ON IT! OH YEAH, REMEMBER TRACHSEL'S PITCHING TOMORROW?? Damn out of amunition or I would have shot myself with that revalation
  13. Put the gun down!!!! or take your head out of the noose it's not worth it
  14. Managers are willing to take risks as wel, such as dbl steals and squeeze plays. Players are willing to swing for the fences like Dunn on every pitch to pad their totals. thus making them more dangerous
  15. I felt it wasn't their best quality if you compare it to the last couple of years.
  16. they didn't come out on this end
  17. Current Lee Ramirez/Lilly tough to decide Howery Marmol Murton/Theriot All Time Billy Williams Ernie Banks Ron Santo Andre Dawson Fergie/Kessenger I know that was 6 seven if you add Joe Pepitone No I don't follow direction well, my excuse is that i think "out of the box" (a term I can't stand)
  18. for ESPN to consider him an MVP it is necessary to have a quaint name like "big Papi" or Manny with dredlocks, but if he continues this pace into let's say a WS (knock on wood, not Kerry that is) then he could sill claim a MVP. As long as Derosa stays hot, I think he is the unsung hero of this team
  19. let's keep them in it, I don't want to be bored
  20. If we say let's compare Dunn with A Rod then he does. would I want him on my team? Ya But he did insult our grounds crew so probably not Wow, great analysis. If you compare almost anyone to ARod they look bad, seeing as he's the best player in the game. and that was the point, I am not a big believer in Adam Dunn. I believe if we are going to waste 100 million on a person let's waste 130 for ARod and not for a strike-out king like Dunn. I am hoping Mark Cuban does waste money for him. It isn't my money or we could not waste money

  22. That is a sick thought, I want a sweep of the Pirates and then a sweep of the florida then rest the staff in the final weekend. Not realistic because both these teams give us fits. I wonder which "Z" will show up. I truely believe the Yankees were so good earlyy in the centruy was in the playoffs was because they won the division by so much which gave them time to rest their pitchers. boston could have done that this year if they didn't tank it Boston may yet need to rely on the WC to get in. Just think if this was 1969, people would be talking about the great Boston collapse instead of the Cubs. 1969 is the year Ronnie and I want to wipe from our memories
  23. I think Lilly could have had a cpl of complete games but again as stated the four year contract with a lot of dollar signs makes pulling him easy. would have been nice though to give the pen a rest once in a while though
