  1. cubs aren't into that sort of thing Finding new and inventive ways to lose is far more exciting. :D I'm all for boredom and reeling of 10 wins in a row.
  2. aha, and I got it right without even looking at this post. Yea but you mentioned little sarge so that kinda negates what you got right.
  3. I've been noticing for awhile that Barrett has been releasing his back foot early and stepping over across the plate with that foot a lot lately. Is this something that he has always done and I am just now noticing? Or has he recently developed a balance problem at the plate that could be leading to more foul balls or poor contact and thus his lower average? I'm not a hitting coach by any stretch but this little habit he has maybe indicative of a larger problem. Thoughts?
  4. True, but I think it is fair to say the Cubs fare pretty bad at the casino, compared to others. Well I'm glad you realized that my analogy was designed to allay concerns that sounded as though they were from a person, much like most of us, who is more used to the NFL or NBA draft than the MLB draft. But WOW! You sure made your point! Congratulations, Poster of the Year is in order I think.
  5. The draft is a crapshoot, absolutely nothing is for certain except there will be big surprises and big disappointments. Don't worry about it, especially how this year's draft will effect your favorite player, because it will only give you a headache.
  6. Reyes is definitely the poster child for overly aggressive speed guys who flip a switch and really turn things around. But I don't know if I trust the Cubs to wait out the 4 years it took him. I think they will with this kid. The man-love they have shown and his demeanor and presense will buy him more patience than Patterson, Murt or anyone else could have gotten from this club. I mean seriously.... he's the Michael Jordan of Baseball! according to Vince Coleman
  7. You're right... Cubs fans are watching it.
  8. Maybe all this extracurricular stuff will actually get him going for the season. ::crosses fingers and holds breath::
  9. A slap on the wrist, in fine form, if its anything like the comparable punishments for hitting batters by Cubs pitchers and Roy Oswalt a few seasons ago.
  10. Supposedly Guzman to the DL. The 60 day? They'd need to move someone off the 40 man by either putting them on the 60 day or optioning them off/DFA someone or make a trade.
  11. I'm hoping that Pie will be the exception to O_O's list since he wasn't drafted.
  12. Hey! I take offense. I dated a "former" stripper one time and she was.......... nevermind you are right on with your analysis. Boy that was a fun couple months though. A trip to stripperville can be a fun roller coaster experience, can it not? Sure can, so long as you can get out quickly and come out disease free. Which thankfully I did at least the disease free part.

  14. how about the frontier league? I think he's too old to play for the frontier league with their rules. But I'd love to boo him down here in Evansville. I could even give our pitchers a solid scouting report. Breaking stuff low and away = out every time.
  15. All those guys aren't exactly young.
  16. Yea but Murton can't "catch the dang ball" as Lou was yelling about.
  17. Neither is mine.... nevermind just read the espn article sited and am glad I did before I dropped my man Gregg.
  18. Fixed. And I agree. I love Barrett as much as the next person... I even have one of his jersey t-shirts. But he's not hitting and we're not winning. So long as he's hitting like Hank White... just keep Hank White in for defense. But get Bare some playing time to see if he can heat up after the demotion.
  19. How has Greg Maddux yet to have been mentioned in this thread? Any 300 game winner in this era is a legend in my mind... so Mad dog, Glavine and Roger have to get the knod.
  20. he really should, but he probably never will because the media doesn't really like him. Exactly. It's too bad, because the man was about as dominant as it gets. I think the media will come around after Pedro retires and the majority of reporters who had direct dealing with him start falling to the wayside. Fans realize what Pedro accomplished and that's the most important thing. Fans realize what Ronnie did too.. but that hasn't gotten him into the Hall so on that basis I take issue with fans opinions being the most important thing in these sorts of things.
  21. Jones + Floyd = 546 in the past 7 days. Jones in May has essentially been Ronny Cedeno - .194/.239/.323 Jacque has really built himself a heck of a hole to climb out of, at .243/.295/.333, well off his pace of 2006, when he was already up to .278/.317/.474 by this time, relatively close to where he finished the season. Pie's offense would be a heckuva lot better than that if he played regularly. Let's just hope Jones continues to do well against Lowe and can improve any bit of trade value. (which is a bit of paradox b/c if he starts doing well the cubs management will think that's they way he will play there on out and then deem him too valuable to trade... erghh!)
  22. Did anyone else see Jones's OPS over the past 7 days? .129?!? An OPS of .129?! I think he's trying to be awful at this point.
