  1. Has the SCR mentioned who this ghost trading partner is? I haven't seen anything in the Evansville Courier about the Otters or any other Frontier League team expecting to add lefty punch to their lineup and I don't know who else would want him so color me skeptical.
  2. Well WHIP is a rate stat, which is especially useful when two pitchers have vastly different Innings Pitched such as these two pitchers. I'm no stat wizard but I'd imagine that Lopez's peripheral numbers suggest a rise in his ERA in the near future. But WHIP is essentially the pitching version of OBP. Basically OBP per inning. I don't know how its just a useless fantasy stat.
  3. I like most of all of their posts but UM always seems to find a way to start all the projected lineup nonsense that gets out of hand in some threads. +1 hogger +1 motorboating boobies
  4. The report is that Barrett is already on his way to SD-so I would hope Bowen is on his way to Texas. Theriot and Ward are the emergency catchers right now (reported a few days ago). Haha. It would be hilarious seeing Theriot in catcher's gear. The big-fella, Ward, may be even more interesting.
  5. All of you "fact checkers" with all of your "facts" are never going to end the fun, wild speculation by the ill-imformed.
  6. Just a hunch that he wanted someone to... CATCH THE DAMNED BALL AND RUN THE BASES PROPERLY!?
  7. The details are in... http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/weblog/2007/06/padres_get_barrett.html FWIW, I think Barrett's trade value is a little overrated on here. Well you may be right but to get me to agree with a Cards fan, you'll have to get a pretty girl in your avatar like Wolf.
  8. At least wait until something official says what the trade actually is before unleashing your venom. Why would anyone do that??? We had projected lineups 20 minutes ago.
  9. Blanco could be out for the season. You still not want to get another pitcher because Prior or Wood could be coming back??? Even if Blanco is out for the season, they still have Hill and Soto. If one of them got hurt, backup C's are always available. Prior and Wood would have nothing to do with trading for a pitching prospect. Prior and Wood was a sarcastic analogy to the logic being used. Hasn't Soto also been playing 1b since he hasn't been healthy? I don't think the Cubs think that he's a viable option at Catcher at the Major League level at this time, given health and development.

  11. eek Yea two second basemen and no SS in the lineup makes me cringe too.
  12. Your sig and the last line make all the rest of those possible valid points easily questioned by rational viewers.
  13. BBB raises an excellent point, which reminded me of something a source of mine said earlier this year. Many like to make fun of Jim Bowden around here, but my source told me that the dumbest GM in baseball unequivocally is Jon Daniels of the Rangers. "Definitely not the sharpest knife in the drawer by any stretch." My source, who happens to scan Tim's site here on a regular basis, told me just by reading some threads here that there are at least 100 posters, who would be better than Daniels on philosophy alone. and he got an extension http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2909052 While I don't have the inside knowledge of some, I know bad product when I see it (insert Cubs fan joke here) and I got a chuckle when I saw that he got an extenstion
  14. Same here. That Orlando Cabrera/ Mike Cuddyer for Felipe Lopez/ Lance Berkman trade backfired on me. I'm just gonna go out on a limb and guess that your fantasy team needs more than a Harris hot streak to get it going? 12th place out of 14 teams :D . I've sorta given up on it and focused more on my other team that's tied for 3rd. I sure am glad I stuck with Cabrera, this month long hot streak has been great to both of my fantasy teams. ::rubs salt in wounds::
  15. Well I hate Izturis so maybe I am a bit biased in evaluating his lack of defense. And I did like Harris too while he was here.

  17. You, like Jim Hendry, greatly overrate Izturis's defense. He would look great on this team but in defense of trading him it did take the kid awhile to figure it out... something he might not have done in Chicago.
  18. Can you make a package deal to trade Barrett for Estrada? Consider it doing your Cubs duty.
  19. That actually looks like a moderate, certainly not easy, schedule: Padres - Best pitching staff in the league, even if we miss Peavy, best record in the NL and has owned us in recent past. (My prediction: 1 of 3) Rangers - Just beat our division leaders 2 of 3, still have a decent offense, Sammy will be inspired, and our strength is pitching, which goes to die in Texas (2 of 3) White Sox - Like you said, throw the records out, I have a bad feeling about this series (1 of 3) Colorado - Certainly not an easy team like you seem to be suggesting but still (2 of 3) Nationals - OK they are pretty bad (2 of 3) Pirates - Certainly not pushovers, and have good pitching (1 of 3..just a gut feeling) the 29-37 NL East Nats are pretty bad, but the 28-38 NL Central Bucs are no pushovers. Sosa inspiration. "bad feeling" about the White Sox. gut feelings. holy negative subjective analysis batman. Hey give him a break... he is a Cubs fan.
  20. Did a Cardinals fan or The Sporting News come up with these ratings? Because being down here I get Cardinals games and I have watched him and I am sorry but any defensive rating that has him on top is ridiculous.
  21. Over Jacque Jones and his lack of any abilities... of course!
  22. He was probably, "[expletive] with him." Everyone's so serious and uptight over these kinds of things.
  23. Standing and clapping time... lets raise that pretty white flag.
  24. Dempster warming up? He's been used a lot lately so Lou maybe tempted to stay with Howry?
  25. After umpiring for 10 years I understand why he does it... but I didnt do it because it annoyed fans and young players greatly.
