  1. What does Marshall top out at? His sinker can get up to the upper 80s right? not bad for a lefty. And considering "velocity" is a quantum defining speed and direction (not just speed alone), I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.
  2. Well I guess if you were his attorney you'd file a motion to dismiss under trial rule 12 b 6 and I'd say good job.
  3. That argument, sadly, will probably win Handcocks dad the case. It's only a matter of time before: Insurance for Bar Owners skyrockets causing many to shut down Bars start having strictly enforced 1 drink limits You have to sign a waiver before entering a Bar. Fantastic. You couldn't sign a valid waiver if you are already drunk... but nice thought.
  4. I could care less if he is suing for 3 bucks. It is the principal that is disgusting. Suing the frekain tow truck driver and the owner who called the tow truck? Gee, if my car ever breaks down god forbid I call a tow truck because some drunk moron could hit it and kill himself. And that would be 100% my fault, because you know, you have to consider that right. you have a fantastic understanding of the law. What are you talking about? The only person who broke the law was Josh Hancock. The law may allow for pointless lawsuits that attempt to shift the blame, but that doesn't make it right. His dad can file suit against anyone for anything, but any judge with his/her head on their shoulders is going to pimp slap this into the circular file.  The thought of any Judge pimp slapping anything is way too comical for me to handle. Let alone pimp slapping something into the "circular file." That's not exactly how it works. Apparently, TV does rot the brain.
  5. So three lefty starters? Who would have thought that a few years back? What do we think the likely order will be? Maybe it'll look like the following: Hill Marquis Lilly Marshall Z
  6. What exactly was he claiming that Corey would help them do?
  7. How could he be paired with Patterson if they both play 2nd base? I don't care what piece we get back or how it complicates our farm system... it just needs to happen. Pitchers have finally figured out that all you have to do is throw Jones sliders low and away and he'll swing and miss every time.
  8. JJ Hardy the NL MVP? Let's sure as heck hope not. How can you root for that while rooting for the Cubs?
  9. He mentions Sammy in the Teixera section... saying that the Rangers maybe more interested in trading Sammy than Teixera.
  10. Who is that in your avatar??? And is she available to have my children?
  11. My guess is that Fontenot will mostly rot while he's up here. I'm not too concerned about that, because that's not really hurting his development. He may get a start or two, but with Theriot and Izturis both playing well at the moment they are going to get most to all of the starts. Being the only backup at 2nd, SS, or 3B as well, Fontenot won't get as many chances for PH either, as Lou will want to save him as long as he can in games just in case. Well the Trib did say that he's likely to start when The Riot's at SS, granted that may not happen much over the course of Fontenot's stay.
  12. But what about what his mechanics say? He throws the ball like a converted catcher with his almost short arm delivery. It looks like an injury waiting to happen. And I'd imagine the hitters get a good view of the ball coming off of his delivery.
  13. Could this be partly due to the extra hitting that the Cubs have been taking before night games?
  14. wrigleyvillesports? I am going to get a "The Riot" customized shirt. <--------- So overly excited.
  15. I was also looking for a Theriot jersey t-shirt. Anyone know of a place that makes these for all the Cubs? I was looking in the shops around Wrigley for awhile after the game Saturday and found nothing for Theriot and didn't see any Marquis ones either.
  16. This team would suck.. they're all hurt
  17. And then if nothing is found in his records, people will be asking about the portions that are blacked out. No. All records pertaining to possible steroid use would need to be released. Records not relating to steroids use but of a potentially embarrassing nature (e.g., anti-depressants, STDs, etc.) could be blacked out. A simple avadavit stating all steroid-related information was disclosed could be obtained. Releases like this happen all the time. It's not a big deal. Just to make sure I am clear on this VOR everything but information related to steriods would be blacked out of his record? This way embarassing info like if he has Herpes would not be disclosed to the public? If I understand this correctly it seems pretty fair. The only reason I would see then to not give up the records is either on principle of invasion of privacy or because they used steroids. For the record I think it is an invasion of privacy, but if I needed to accept it to clear up my name I would definitely do it. People lie in affidavits all the time and that's what the steroids witch hunters would say if Sammy presented redacted health records.
  18. Now that is some reliable source right there..... someone on CUBS.COM... heard it on the SCORE. I wouldn't base any of my probable cause affidavits on that for sure.
  19. ahhh a NSBB meet up game too. Highlights of the game A) the very young girl with the "We got Wood sign." sign B) In the bottom of the 9th after a mini rally, coming up as the tieing run NEIFI BUNTS. C) I won a Mitchell & Ness Jackie Robinson jersey D) Sethuel's heckling of Soriano Yea, I was at this game too in the bleachers... I remember everyone being so excited after the first inning. Then it all went down hill, capped off by Neifi, I am still dumbfounded at the bunt. That pretty much was the tipping point of the season last year of when I stopped having hope that they would be at least decent. Oh well, lets have Z shut these fools down so I can see Rich Hill continue the win streak while I am there for my birthday Saturday.
  20. Rain on your wedding day could be ironic. If it was destined to be a bad marriage for example.
  21. What's this thread about again??? Oh yea, I just saw a little clip on the Cubs clubhouse page on ESPN that speculated that Pie was the one going down when Guzman came up to start on Sunday. Anyone else seen anything about that? I assume they got it from one of the Chicago papers?? Personally, I like the idea, send him down with the taste of the bigs and with specific instructions on things to work on for WHEN he comes back up later this year, hopefully after Jacque Jones is traded. (note: this is not advocating yo-yo'ing him back and forth)
  22. That's not always true. Not at all. Sometimes guys are moved to second out of necessity. You really want to play the guy at SS but there is a good SS already ahead of him, so they move him to 2B. I've seen that happen on numerous occasions. You are actually agreeing with Terry's point. Which is that he's not going to waste his time scouting the second best SS on the team. If he needs a second baseman, he'll just take the SS and convert him. By "failed" he means not the starting SS. Just curious, does anyone know how many current big league shortstops are converted second basemen? Recently there was this one guy that you may have heard of in New York that was moved to 2b because the team already had some hot Japanese prospect with a big ego that they were worried about keeping at SS. It didn't work well for either player but it does show that it can happen that people get moved to 2b from SS for reasons other than skill or perhaps the skill evalution and scouting is just wrong.
