    So what happened to Barrett? And what is a intrascrotal hematoma? It sounds like a hernia. The cubs.com blurb about it is very vague and I don't watch the games anymore.

    Hasn't the deadline requiring players to be on a team's roster before that player can participate in that team's postseason already passed? If so, I guess he could still pitch the first day or two of October.

    I think Hendry has already talked about getting Pierre an extension before the end of the year. So I guess that shows you what he thinks. Also, those numbers for Pie are at AAA. I would like to see better numbers at that level from him, and I think he is capable of better numbers. So I think he gets another year down there.

    Just what the Cubs need... another free swinger who strikes out a bunch and is getting old. Man can you imagine some of the Cubs teams from recent memory if they had more hitters like that. :roll: :roll: Never mention this again and I will forget it happened.

    Something J.R. and I can agree on. That new thing isn't skynard and using it to bash the real stuff just doesn't make any sense. Besides, listening to Queen in my 72 chevy pickup on the backroads of southern indiana just wouldn't be right now would it?

    It's a four game series. And they better not friggin' get swept. I'm going to the last three games of that series. I wanna see some Cubbie wins, especially on Sunday, when I'm going with some distant Cardinals fan relatives. Why do people still go to watch this? Stop going to Wrigley! Maybe then they will fire these idiots when they start losing the guys in suits money.

    I don't understand the logic behind that statement. I guess they are saying that he is more effective at bunting in low grass. But shouldn't the opposite be true. If the grass is higher it is going to take fielders longer to get to it and thus he is further down the baseline by that point. Or am I wrong here?

    Remember before I say this that I like walks much better than Dusty seems to..but what if I came on the board last Sunday and said see...the Cubs took 0 walks, and scored 15 runs! It looks like they should keep preaching agressiveness. I would be roasted for looking at that one game as evidence, because the 2 stats are not well correlated. So it's silly to look at this game as evidence of the other side, however a help it might have been. Yoda is that you?

    I thought the same thing about Gary Matthews, Jr. :oops: Gary Matthews Jr. is having an outstanding season. So your point is moot on that. Guys on the Cubs fail to succeed for a number of reasons, but over the past 4 years it has been because of a poor approach to hitting that is taught to them from inept coaching. Just look at Patterson and it's clear as day that the coaching staff here can only be successfull if they are given players with great plate vision like Derrek Lee. Lee is able to be agressive within the strike zone because he has a good concept of the strike zone. Hendry and Baker have a hard time co-existing because they do not work together. I hate the hitting approach personally but it Hendry would bring in the type of player that would take well to this hitting approach like Lee, then the team would be much better offensively. Instead he brings in toolsy players that don't have a concept of the strike zone but are fast and have immense amount of talent if harnessed. Well put and nice post.

    I really think that we should organize some sort of boycott. No more going to games! No more buying Cubs apparel! No more supporting this team whatsoever until some wholesale changes are made. I know I do not plan on buying tickets next year like I usually do, even though I usually make quite a profit reselling the tickets I do not use.

    Steve Stone. Let's not get carried away. Retire? Doubtful. Some team will take a chance on him as either a starter or more likely as a reliever. 60 pitches would be more than enough coming out of the pen. That 'some team' however isnt likely to be the Cubs.

    not to nitpick, but i may know why so many people voted for 'yes.' CAN they, well mathematically yes they can. WILL they... lol. See I would be a smarta$$ and say yes to the survey while I doubt that they actually WILL.

    I hope that hand just feels stronger than mine did after I got a cast that was only on for 4 weeks off. Because my hand felt week for quite awhile, and yes I did rehab and worked out with it. But then again I am not a pro athlete god like D. So he should be fine, no worries.

    They didn't show a good angle on the second one, but on the first one he was definitely moving towards the plate. To me, I thought his foot was going towards home, more than first. And I think Ronny's reaction shows that too, no way he gets fooled that bad twice, rookie or not.

    It is, but he balked, you can't step more towards home than first.
