But I was most interested in the fact that McAdam says that the concern is that the Cubs have improved (along with the Brew Crew). Evidently McAdam doesn't read this board. Hopefully the outsider is right??

If those numbers are correct, it's going to be a looooooonngg year. Probably unfair on Dempster's numbers, as I imagine starting numbers are included in there, thus inflating the ERA significantly.

    Is VORP normalized to position, or is defense included, or both? Why does Cedeno get more VORP with lower rate stats over fewer PAs? VORP is additive, position dependent, and only includes offense. Then why is Barrett's so low? He is near the top of the list for offensive catchers.

    Do you work for the IRS? Honda? No "fair tax" is an absurd misleading Republican name for a system that makes the rich richer and the poor poorer. It ignores the fact that .25 (a low ball est. on how much this plan would require to keep gov't afloat) on a dollar means nothing to a millionaire and the world to the poor. But then again you don't care about them... Although you should b/c everytime in history that the gap between the rich and poor got too wide one thing always occured... revolution.     Career high OBP of .341 outside of Coors Field when you take into account all the caught stealings. That's a strange idea you have there of success in the leadoff role. Neifi Perez outhit Cub centre fielders last year. So, regarding the fact that there's an upgrade involved, big deal, frankly. The fact that we could have made a worse trade doesn't make a bad trade any better. Seriously dude when you make up your own stats that jade everything in your direction how does anyone present a coherent argument against what you are saying? or i guess thats what you were hoping. And HOW ON EARTH DOES IT MATTER THAT SOME OF PIERRE'S STATS WERE IN COORS?!?! I thought one of your arguments was he can get the ball out of the park... heck he has trouble getting it off the ground. Lets get this straight Coors effects power hitters numbers (i.e. Sammy's stats there) not slap hitters that keep it on the deck. You and others were going to be mad with ANY move and also with ANY non-move.

    Eyre last year at SBC 33IP 26H 13BB 31 K's 4.01 ERA .220 BA On the Road 34.2 IP 22H 13BB 34K's 1.30 ERA .180 BA He can pitch outside of SBC. I know its just one year, but the numbers show that he's effective outside of SBC as well. I was going to post those numbers as well as running directly contrary to what Keeper was saying. Although I don't like the money and years(why should I care anyways?), I liked his home/road splits and lefty splits (meaning this isn't Remlinger part deux). I think this is a pitcher that Baker can actually use properly so its a positive signing.

    Is it really too much to keep Neifi from the top of the order and playing SS on a team we would like to play meaningful games at the end of the season? I'll let the Cubs worry about payroll... heck the Trib has the money. Hopefully, they are worrying about secondarily to winning.

    I watched the Astros "press conference" last night... these things are absurd, why on earth did they think it was a good idea? ](*,) And Stephen A. Smith is pretty bad, Raisin is the only one I have ever heard praise the guy. He states the obvious popular opinion in a matter of fact tone like he has just dropped a bomb on you, pretty darn annoying.
