  1. Yeah they did a good job with it. They were wearing black and yellow shirts, not sure what was printed on them. They were booing Illinois during the pre-game and introductions and really loud for Iowa. They were super loud when Gatens was introduced. At first I thought, "wow did they give away a block of tickets to Iowa City High students or something?" then I remembered they did almost the same thing 4 years ago (only that was higher up in a corner). Then like 10 seconds before tip they ripped them off and freaked out.
  2. Meh, I wasn't really expecting him back. Do Mizzou fans have any opinions on this game?
  3. Just don't bring 200 students with you. Hopefully they won't come because of break and the bowl game. yea we're hoping we can watch the bowl game at a local watering hole before the b-ball game. There are some places there along Hwy 6 that you could hit. Wig and Pen is a local place with the best food (and solid beer selection) combo but it's right down the hill from Carver and typically packed before games. Right next to that is The Vine which is also pretty solid and would give you the best view of tv's. Either one of those are within walking distance to CHA so you can drink and not have to worry about driving until after 10 p.m. Then of course further away you have chains like Old Chicago and Buffalo Wild Wings that would probably be less crowded but work.
  4. It defies logic.

  6. I don't like Illinois coming into this on a 2-game losing streak. Plus being the Big Ten opener there's not going to be any lack of focus or looking past Iowa. I also really wonder how we're actually going to score points against Big Ten defenses.
  7. Pass interference on both teams?
  8. Now we can all fully turn our attention to the showdown in Iowa City on Wednesday. Pomeroy sees a 66-64 Illinois win. Iowa has a 39% chance to win but that's before factoring in Gus Johnson's presence and the boost he gives to the underdog and home team.
  9. Rivers' assist rate is 12.0 and his turnover rate is 38.2. I don't think I would want him handling the ball much. That turnover rate is something you see out of freshman big men.
  10. Stop trying to make me feel better. [-( lol Well then who are we going to beat in the Big Ten then? Iowa. They very likely will at least once but I think Iowa is better than Indiana. I think all 3 of those teams will grab 4 Big Ten wins or more. Who knows what the deal is with Michigan.
  11. Interesting article on why Iowa and Missouri stopped playing each other in football 100 years ago: http://www.columbiatribune.com/news/2010/dec/26/bitter-divide-separated-missouri-iowa/?tigerextra One of the newspaper headlines from that era has either already been used or will soon be used by sulley.
  12. I was away from the tv/computer almost all of yesterday, were people criticizing the postponement of the Eagles game? From all of the pictures that I keep seeing it looks like an average December day in the midwest/northeast. Roads were perfectly clear and remain that way. One of the Vikings beat writers said they've gotten 4 inches and had a little wind, that's it.
  13. Paul Allen who is the Vikings pbp guy and hosts a show in the Twin Cities was trying to find some opinions on QB's they liked with scouts and management people. He claimed that they're really high on Gabbert. I'm assuming that means their spot early in the 2nd round if they don't grab Mallett or Newton in the 1st.
  14. did you watch hard knocks? he looks like a 7th-year senior frat guy who's still putting on 10 pounds of beer weight a year. i swear to god, he has to be the most unlikely looking football player in the league. speaking of which, if you want to see unlikely, try and find tom brady's combine pics. he was in worse shape than the old farts i run pickup ball with. True. But Brunell has thrown 30 passes in like 5 years. Here's a link to the Brady pics, thanks for the tip. It doesn't help that he looks all hungover and angry: http://bostonist.com/2008/01/03/zero_to_hero_to.php I tried to find a Jared Lorenzen combine picture to show the most unlikely NFL QB ever. The 4th google result for "Jared Lorenzen combine pictures" is something I wish I would not have seen.
  15. They won 0 playoff games under Childress before Favre.
  16. Is Kellen Clemens really that bad that a clearly over the hill Mark Brunell is a better option?
  17. What the [expletive] is that supposed to mean? He also conveniently ignores that Favre was one of the top 3 QB's in the league last year so that whole first part of his rant doesn't really fit. His obsession with Favre is bizarre. He will go anywhere to rant about him and the whole thing started because he thought he was a traitor for becoming a Viking after being a Packer.
  18. Wow, did not expect that. Where would Pryor be drafted if he came out now? Late 2nd into the 3rd maybe?
  19. Mitch Williams would be the worst from that list. Mark Grace would be fine and probably preferred to most on that list. I don't want him to ever do TV for the Cubs. Stick him on the radio where he and Hughes can have some fun, I don't have to hear him all that much.
  20. The Martz raving about his film work reminded me of something. Didn't he used to have a hard ass, perfectionist reputation regarding his players? At least that's what I remember of him. Every time I've heard clips of him on 670 this year he sounds like a super positive, motivational guy. Raving about Olsen's blocking ability or the o-line or the backfield or the WR's, he always seems to take offense to criticism.
  21. Doug Collins is not the coach for a team that is building for the future.
  22. Has anyone else seen the pictures of Qualcomm stadium? How the hell are they going to play that game?
  23. Good lord, I hope not. I hope you have someone on your schedule you can beat next weekend.
  24. The worst part for Illinois fans is that this was only the second loss in your three game losing streak.
  25. This had been a bad two nights for the Big Ten. PSU is embarrassed at home, MSU gets blown out at home, IU, Northwestern and Illinois lose on neutral courts.
