  1. If he plays he's going to have an awesome game and the entire football media will have one final Favregasm. It doesn't make any sense and it shouldn't happen, but it's Brett Favre. Logic goes out the window.
  2. 5%? A street free agent won't beat out Webb. I think it will be at TCF and Brett will play.
  3. No further suspensions or dismissals at Iowa. DJK obviously gone, Jewel gone and Robinson suspended for bowl game. That's it.
  4. If they don't have faith in Jackson going forward there are a few reasons to play Favre. One is that if Favre wants to play they probably want to go with the go they think gives them the best chance to win a game. I have trouble imagining Favre wanting to leave the game this way. The Vikings should love the opportunity to ruin the Bears hopes for the division. Plus Leslie is coaching for his job. Brett supposedly is a big fan of Frazier and wants him to get the job. If he's able to go, it's in everyone's best interest if he plays. Tarvaris will not be here next year. Last night put a bow on that.
  5. The last few years I've been wanting the Phillies to win when the Cubs were eliminated because they're my dad's team. Now they're just [expletive] annoying and he's going to be giddy as hell.
  6. I'll be cheering for a win. I want Leslie to get the job, it's still the Bears and if I see us wearing our throwbacks and playing a home game outdoors on MNF I'll still be all pumped.
  7. Wow what a play by Schaub. Little high step to avoid the sack then makes a really strong throw across his body. And they get the 2, wow!
  8. That was just a really ugly NFL game. We outgained them in the first quarter. Defense was looking good and Jackson was looking sharp on intermediate stuff. Then they outgained us like 300-75 or something like that I'm guessing. Weird environment, bad QB play by both teams, sloppy overall play. Right now we'd be drafting somewhere between 8-12 depending on tiebreakers. Of the 7 teams in front of us now, 3 and maybe 4 won't be drafting a QB that high. We need to stay in the top 10.
  9. Press release just said that Hampton will transfer and Robinson is suspended for the bowl game. Press conference tomorrow morning.
  10. what? Ed Werder was saying something about him not getting paid. I guess only if they put him on the injured list for the season. He wouldn't get paid if he just quit/retired. We're now one snap from Vikings meatball fans' wet dream of Joe Webb.
  11. Yeah this may be it. Although I'm sure he and they are tempted to give him one last shot at going out next Monday at "home" to have a sendoff.
  12. Also no Harvin, Hutchinson and Ray Edwards. All that combined with the homefield advantage being changed into a neutral-field game and it's bad news for NFC teams that wanted a Giants loss.
  13. The Gophers say they need an answer by Tuesday so jersey should get his wish. http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/blogs/111808379.html?elr=KArksi8cyaiU9PmP:QiUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUz33Dii_9PmP:Qi_vckD8EQD_1cuU
  14. I told you guys earlier today to bet while it was still +1. Surprising that it stayed on the boards as long as it did. Some handicapper just tweeted that up to 20 players could be suspended.
  15. If you just wanted to say the Metrodome sucks you should have just said that and left out the first sentence. No one would disagree. It doesn't even make sense the way you put them together. And in case you hadn't noticed, they've kind of been trying to get a stadium for a long time. The game should be in Minnesota because a home game was scheduled, there's a viable alternative in town and ticket holders should be able to see the last two games of the year that they paid for. The 50th anniversary stuff is what seals the deal for wanting it at TCF instead of Detroit.
  16. The Wegher thing was pretty much written a while ago but yeah it just became official last week. My understanding is that the DJK arrest prompted Ferentz to order piss tests. Have heard that Ferentz forced mandatory tests for everyone and also heard that they just tested guys who had probable cause based on stuff found on DJK's computer. Not sure which is the case. Anyways, Hampton is done and it seems like Robinson is done also because of failed/refused tests and not being a first offense. There will be suspensions coming and maybe more dismissals. McNutt could be involved but he's been practicing this weekend. Jewel wasn't at the banquet and Robinson hasn't been at practice in 4 days.
  17. Friday is way too late given the practice schedule for NFL teams. It has to be Tuesday. Odds are the Vikings will know the answer themselves long before Friday, so allowing them to plan for the game while the Bears are hung out to dry would be a bad move by the NFL. I don't think it has to be Tuesday for a Monday night game. That means the players are basically off until Wednesday. Is the game plan THAT dependent upon weather that you need 6 days? Most of the inital works the coaches are doing is just based on matchups and tendencies. The contractors and workers are evaluating and getting to it today though so I think there will probably be a pretty good idea by tomorrow or Wednesday. They may not make it official right away but I highly doubt the Vikings are going to know where it is and the NFL lets the Bears dangle in the wind.
  18. I would guess that they make a decision by Friday. It would be a dick move to wait until Saturday or Sunday to tell people who had tickets that there was no longer room for them to see the game after they had traveled.
  19. That's the best case scenario for the Bears I think. Simply because it's playing a dome team outdoors and it's not like the weather could get any worse than what the Bears just played in. What are the other options? Ford Field? Edward Jones? I'm pretty sure it will be in Minnesota somewhere. It's the final home game and this is the 50th anniversary. They've been splashing the 50 stuff on everything all year and are having this huge event coinciding with the game where they're bringing in a ton of people from the past and having a large gala the night before the game. With this much time left to prepare I think they'll have TCF ready to go if the dome isn't fixed. The dome would be louder but I think the crowd may be rowdier if it's outdoors.
  20. FWIW on KFAN in the twin cities this morning a worker for U of M/TCF Bank Stadium phoned in and said that that they were called in and told to prepare to work all week to get the stadium ready.
  21. "The new leader of the Leaders division is..." As I saw elsewhere, this is the first time the entire internet has agreed on something.
  22. More improtantly, what are normal people going to call the Antwaan Randle-El trophy? ETA: Sorry, the Thompson-Randle El trophy. They managed to get everything wrong. Bingo. The logo's look like they're 20+ years old. Two names for every trophy is completely unnecessary. Then they manage to top all of that with horrendous division names. No one nationally will refer to them as "Legends" and "Leaders" with a straight face or immediately making a joke about it. They spent months and consulted with firms to come up with this?
  23. Because of my schedule, I've never seen more regular season baseball than I did in '03 and '04. The drama of the races made it even easier to remember so many details from so many regular season games.
  24. Might be a good time to bet on Mizzou before the line changes.
